Oh, my... The library is open! PNR author Ashlyn Chase gets read by her character Brandee from her newest release Flirting Under a Full Moon and she has a lot to say!
You won’t believe what my writer Ashlyn Chase did to me!
Hi. I’m Brandee Hanson and Flirting Under a Full Moon is my story. Well…Mine and Nick’s. It’s a miracle we lived through it to get where we are now. Ashlyn must have been in a sadistic mood when she created our so-called love story. She could have let us meet the normal way and fall in love after a few lovely dates, but no…She had to torture us! (Bitch)
First, she had my boyfriend of almost a year dump me…in a text message no less! Boy, was that embarrassing. I was at work, and I think the whole bar heard me wail. Then the psychic who hangs out there told me not to worry. My true love was about to walk into my life. The door opened and who walked in? One-night-Nick. The most notorious playboy in Boston. Sheesh.

Sheesh.
As usual, he tried to pick me up. I ignored his “offer” until I overheard him talking to the psychic. By the way, he’s a paranormal PI…only I didn’t know about the paranormal part. I’d heard him say he was a private investigator hired to find the mayor’s daughter—my little cousin Katie, who’d been kidnapped! He wouldn’t let me help, so I tailed him. Damned if he didn’t change into a wolf right before my eyes! I had my camera with me, so I snapped a few pictures, knowing that would prove to me later if I was hallucinating or not.
He heard my shutter snapping and caught me in the act. I bolted and he ran after me, buck naked! Hey, I don’t mind a hunk in the buff at a strip club, but on Boston Common? Are you kidding me? Then what does the writer do? She hits us with a tornado! On Boston friggin’ Common. Oh, my Oz!
I won’t tell you the rest of the story. You’ll have to read it to believe it. Let’s just say, that wasn't the half of it! I had loaded guns pointed at me. I was almost harpooned (yes—with an actual harpoon) and experienced more paranormal mayhem that I never realized existed. Just thinking about what we had to go through to get to our happily ever after ending makes me want to crap my pants. Seriously. I think something is wrong with our writer. Who would do that to a couple of innocent characters?

Flirting Under a Full Moon (Flirting with Fangs Trilogy #1)
Never Cry Werewolf
If Brandee Hanson ever wants to go from waitress to photographer, she'll have to take some once-in-a-lifetime shots. But when she catches the gorgeous private investigator, Nick Wolfensen, on camera— transforming into a werewolf—she is thrown into a world of vampires, shapeshifters, and other paranormal misfits. In order to keep his secret and stay clear of the supernatural council, Nick will have to convince Brandee not to release the photo. Fortunately, he was looking for an excuse to spend more time with the beautiful waitress anyway.
About the Author:
Ashlyn Chase has been a registered nurse for 20 years. During those years, she wrote articles for professional journals and a thesis, but eventually, thank goodness, discovered the joy and freedom of writing fiction.
Ashlyn considers herself lucky. Her degree in behavioral sciences is a combination of psychology and sociology, so she has worked with and studied people most of her life. She never has to write out exhaustive character sketches to understand her characters or predict how they will behave. That doesn't mean they don't surprise her. Sometimes they take her on grand unexpected journeys. For her, it gives "character driven novels" a whole new meaning.

No, I don't think she should be punished. Characters always seem to have the upper hand.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right, Victoria! Characters make decisions, and wise writers are like good parents. We let them experience the consequenses, but keep them safe as they learn...
ReplyDeleteOh, my Bull! This is Brandee again. Parents? Really? I'm not even going to dignify that with a proper response.
No I don't think she should be punished. Characters should always speak their mind. Other wise how would the author be able to write such a great book.
ReplyDeleteNaw, no punishment is required. We learn from our characters, and in turn both the writer and character grow!
ReplyDeleteDon't punish her, Ash! She's as fabulous as you are :-)
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think Brandee should be punished. Snarky outspoken heroines always make a story more interesting.
ReplyDeleteDid I say something about punishing her? I believe she's the one planning to punish me! LOL
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think Brandee should be punished. Readers love snarky outspoken heroines.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she should after all she made Brandee so she knows what she did "wrong" in Brandee's eyes... And i love how feisty Brandee is props to Ashlyn
ReplyDeleteY'all are too nice! She needs a good beating Ashlyn! You let her get away with this and next you know she will be trying to get her friends HEA's too. Make her SUFFER!!!!!!!!! er, sorry about that... I'll just go back to my corner... ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL, Jeanette. I'm so glad you see it that way.
ReplyDeleteAnd Sharon...You called it. She does want others to have an HEA. Thank goodness it's a series!
So funny to read the character talking about the author. Yeah, the tornado was a bit much.
ReplyDeleteAh, but everything happens for a reason, Emi. That tornado was caused by--
ReplyDelete"Jeez, Ashlyn! Are you going to give away the whole plot? I want people to know what you put me through. I want them to live it as I did. I want them to be as mad at you as I am."
I know that, Brandee. But you and Nick might never have gotten together if you didn't go through everything just the way you did.
"I guess you're right. As much as I hate to admit it." Sigh.
Hmm...maybe Brandee should be punished for interrupting, I almost found out what that tornado was caused by.
DeleteNo I don't think Brandee should be punished. I love a character who is outspoken.
ReplyDeletePlay nice, children! ;-)
ReplyDeleteBitch, bitch, bitch! Brandee should be happy she found a hot wolf shifter as her mate. I think you should duct tape Brandee's mouth shut until she learns to show some gratitude, lol.
ReplyDeletepenumbrareads(at)gmail(dot)com
LOL. Duct tape is involved later on in the series.
ReplyDeleteYeah... get that character back in line. Maybe kill him off!
ReplyDeletemestith at gmail dot com
Maybe a little... a bit of uncontrollable sneezing or itching? Just to make her grateful that you even told her "story" in the first place... author karma :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Ashlyn just loves to give her characters a bad time, which means more fun and entertainment for her readers, yay! Sorry Brandee, but I'm all for it. I think Ashlyn should just keep up the torture of Brandee, that's what she gets for complaining. :D
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know if you should punish her or not but I do think that Brandee needs to remember that you gave her Nick, a hot shifter so she should be very thankful....and give you prezzies instead of grief, lol.
ReplyDeleteDon't think you should
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading the post and defending me, everyone!
ReplyDeleteI'll wait to see who the p-t-b select for the prize winner.
I hope those of you who read Brandee and Nick's story enjoy all the hijinks!
I say that you shouldn't punish them further for calling you out, but if you want to then you could always have them repeat the sucky parts of their pasts, that really bites. But really if you hadn't done what you did then they would have no story at all to tell, so really they should be speaking your praises.
