Author Guest Post: Melissa Haag + giveaway!

I like watching movies as much as I like reading books. Both fuel the imagination. I find myself watching movies – Legend is one of my favorites and who doesn't love Harry Potter? – and start asking myself ‘What if’ questions. What if a unicorn and a phoenix had a baby? Don’t scoff! It’s my imagination. It could happen.

Picture the body of a horse covered with deep orange feathers that blend with a red flaming mane, and a golden horn. Flightless, it would grace the earth, accidentally setting fire to just about everything. Every time it rains, the water would cascade off its feathers, but its mane and tail would sputter and spit, trying to stay alight.

Or what about a werewolf and a siren? A beautiful creature in water and a monster on land, singing their prey to the shorelines and then jumping from the water to devour them. The possibilities are too interesting.

There are times too many of my imaginary creatures clog my head and I need to let them out. I’m always thinking of unique ways to write them into a story that captures the imagination. For me, writing Paranormal Romance is the best of both worlds, a mix of weird with a little heartthrob. If you forget to do laundry and feed yourself anything other than Cheetos as you read, my job is done!

Now, what about an anaconda and a mermaid…?

(Mis)Fortune Book 2 of the Judgement of the Six
Published: April 30, 2013

Our world is being judged and even they remain unaware.

Michelle, another young woman with an unexplainable gift, finds herself surrounded by the previously undiscovered werewolf society. Kept prisoner for the predictions that torment her, she meekly follows orders waiting for her opportunity to run. When her stepfather dies, she takes a chance and escapes.

After witnessing Blake, her captor, grow canines, she knows he will do anything to find her. She needs a place to hide and someone to listen to her predictions so her head doesn’t explode, but knows there’s nowhere she can hide forever, and no one who can protect her… unless she can find someone just like him.

Part of the fur wearing faction wants to use her, another part strives to keep her safe. The second book of the Judgement of the Six series will raise more questions about the purpose of these gifted few and Michelle will need to fight for answers. Will what she discovers be enough to help her keep those she loves safe from an emerging evil?

If a dragon and a unicorn had a baby, it would be a dracorn. It would look like a unicorn, beautiful and serene, but when needed it would grow a barbed tail, get bigger, fly and it's horn would shoot fire. Thank you for the giveaway!

2: What if a Pegasus and a Phoenix had a baby? It would hatch from an egg using it's hooves and would have feathers the same color as a phoenix. When it flew sparks and flames would fly from it's mane, tail and hooves. It could also breath fire.
