From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team-the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits-Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand-with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, so of course my hopes were set on atop a very high bar. This ratpack of misfits is anything but the seamless superhero we may be used to. They're reckless and wildly messy at times, but when it boils down to it they kicked some major galaxy butts and won me over in the process.

The film starts out with a very emotional scene, which was a little hard for my 8 year old son, but after reminding him "it's just movie" we plunge ahead into space and the epic adventures that ensued. I paid for the 3D experience and, every penny was well spent for this added element. The movies cinematic setting just came to life and flew off the screen! It felt at times like the characters were within reach.

Amazingly funny moments of dancing and singing when you least expect it. This just added to the overall goofballs that hold the power to save worlds. It's not your typical hero story and thank the stars for that! This one is filled with some major heart and the laughs keep it all running to a head crushing end.

Battles that were breathtaking and mind blowing, I don't know how many man hours were spent on these graphic but every single hand involved with with film needs a big cookie! Some really bad villains keep you rooting for the good guys and cheering in time with the whole audience.

I absolutely loved this gem from beginning to end. Recommending this film to everyone, of all ages, no matter if you're hip to the comic or not. It's truly a fun ride that will leave you walking out with a pep in your step and an 80's musical beat in your heart.

Make sure to stay until the very end for an extra scene after all the credits!
