Paradise, love and power. . .and a prophecy with a price.

Most people believe Eden no longer exists. Lexi Merrill's about to learn they're wrong. A hard-working bartender with a self-sufficient backbone and a wary nature, she knows pickup lines like a second language. So, when Eryx Shantos barges into her world with too-smooth words and a body to back it up, she locks up her libido and vows to keep her distance.

Eryx has other ideas. As king of the Myren race, Eryx is duty-bound to enforce the laws preventing exposure of their existence to humans. Yet The Fates have led him through his dreams to Lexi, a temptation he doesn't want to resist. The question is, is she Myren, or human - which makes her forbidden fruit?

When Eryx's nemesis tags Lexi as his next target, Eryx insists on taking her home where he can keep her safe. Lexi had no idea "home" would mean the one-and-only land of creation. . .or that she'd trigger a prophecy that could doom her newfound race.

Well heck this was a pleasant surprise! New to me author Rhenna Morgan sure can craft a detailed and entertaining story! Basically bartender Lexi Merrill meets Eryx, King of the Myren race when he barges into the bar she works at and makes a pass at her. Which she naturally rejects even though he’s smokin’ hot. Little does she know that Eryx is duty bound to make sure his race isn’t exposed to the human realm. But naturally trouble finds both of them soon after so these two have to spend a lot more time together which leads to one great adventure.

Okay so this was just a treat for me because Morgan really does know how to craft a detailed adventure infused with red hot romance. Such a careful amount of time was spent introducing the world that Eryx came from yet I didn’t feel like the details slowed the pace of the story down at all. It was definitely a fantasy romance but it didn’t feel weighed down by a heavy fantasy element. I loved it. I do like that she didn’t waste time with a drawn out background for Eryx and Lexi and just dove straight into the present. For me, everything I needed to know about these two characters was in the present and not so much in the past.

Eryx just thought he was so irresistible to Lexi and while she thought he was super handsome, she didn’t make things easy for him. I loved the challenge she presented to Eryx who seemed to be used to getting everything he wanted when he wanted. The chemistry was just right from beginning, middle and end between them and of course, the heat level was just the way I like it. Hot but with heart.

There’s plenty of action and suspense to go along with all the heated glances and touches too! I found myself getting so caught up in those scenes and with Eryx and Lexi’s journey to Eryx’s home. Lexi certainly wasn’t prepared for it, nor for the fact that she seems to be something special. Lexi’s presence in Eryx’s home world brought about some kind of prophecy that isn’t really explained in too much detail. In fact, it’s extremely vague compared to how open and detailed everything else is in Unexpected Eden. Not to fear though, it kind of gives the impression that the mystery surrounding the prophecy will be unraveled bit by bit in each book in the series. It was like getting the first piece in a very interesting puzzle. I know I can’t wait to see what’s next.

A native Oklahoman with two beautiful girls and a fantastic husband, her resume reflects her passion for new experiences. Since graduating with a Bachelors in Radio, Television, and Film at Oklahoma State, she’s racked up positions ranging from on-air radio talent, skip tracer, and promotions director, to real estate agent, project manager, and business analyst.

Like most women, she’s got obligations stacked tight from dusk to dawn. That’s where the romance comes in.
