DIE FOR ME

I couldn’t be more excited to be working on Shirlene Obuobi’s DIE FOR ME (Penguin Books; July 14), a smart, sexy, stay-up-all-night romance following a doctor who finds herself falling for an irresistible, much-younger man whose true nature is a deadly secret.

You can start reading DIE FOR ME on NetGalley, and if you’d like to request a print copy, please be in touch with the best mailing address.

Sean isn’t in the market for love. The only female, let alone, Black interventional cardiologist at her hospital, she’s watched male colleague after colleague divorce their first wives for younger women. After spending the better part of her early 30s healing from an abusive relationship, Sean’s focused on her work, her best friend, and her goddaughter. Then she meets Julian at a wedding. Brooding, 11 years younger than her, rich, and more beautiful than any man she’s ever met, he’s definitely a bad idea. But Sean finds herself unable to resist their undeniable chemistry.

Julian pursues her in a way that sets off alarm bells in her mind, but she finds herself unable to resist his allure—she even starts seeing him in dreams that somehow feel too real. They also have a lot in common despite their age gap, and he begins to pull her deeper into his world. So, to hell with it: If men can date younger, why can’t she?

But the more Sean gets to know him, the more completely impossible Julian seems: He has a depth and sorrow to him that’s well beyond his years. Sometimes, there’s a look in his eyes that’s less than human and leaves her feeling more like prey. Plus, Sean herself has been exhibiting odd symptoms—memory lapses, a lack of restraint that's unlike her, persistent exhaustion—that all trace back to her relationship with Julian, making Sean feeling more than a little afraid.

Who—or what—is she falling, irrevocably, in love with?

Shirlene Obuobi is a Ghanaian American cardiologist, cartoonist, and author, whose two previous romance novels, On Rotation and Between Friends & Lovers, have been praised as “an absolute joy to read” (Emily Henry), and “deft and voicey, sexy and emotionally brilliant” (Christina Lauren). She’s been featured on Good Morning America and in Teen Vogue, Marie Claire, the Washington Post, and more.

An irresistible romance for the Twilight girlies in their thirties, DIE FOR ME is seductive, addictive, and totally satisfying, “a paranormal romance that hits every single craving” (Abby Jimenez). More information is below my signature! I can’t wait to hear what you think, and thanks for considering DIE FOR ME for coverage in the summer.

All the best,

Emily
