Valen, along with his six brothers were banished from the Underworld to defend the gates from daemons who have been forbidden entrance. He was cursed long ago by his uncle to never be loved again and to never be able to love again. An assassin has been following him for three months now. He always knows when she’s near and he is more than curious about her.

Eva is a strong character that gives Valen a run for his money. Fearless in many ways, and ready to defend Valen against anyone, Eva made for an interesting character. So often the leading lady is weak and needs to be rescued. Eva would rather take care of herself and that was a refreshing. The groundwork was laid for the next book, Esher that will be out later this year and I look forward to reading it.
