Shadowfever, the final book ends with a bang!

Shadowfever the fifth and final book in the Fever Series by author Karen Moning is hands down one of the BEST books I have read in my life. Really, it's that good. Make sure to start this series at the beginning or you will lose all the dramatic build up.

Plot:

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever.

Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister's murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals that have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences. Mac struggles to cope with grief, while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh--a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King that contains the power to create and destroy worlds.

In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves.

Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman that haunts her dreams? More importantly, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master's penthouse, to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover, to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac's journey will force her to face the truth of her exile and make a choice that will either save the world...or destroy it......

All roads have led to this final show down, questions are answered, twists and turns leave you guessing till the end, and new conflicts are brought to light. Who is Mac? Does she end up being a key part in saving the world from the dark Fae? Will she choose Barrons or V'lane, or perhaps someone new? You want Mac to succeed but the poor girl has so many "doh" moments that at times you just want to smack some sense in to her! The wait was eating at me, but I was so pleased after finishing this book. I know I was walking around with a silly grin for at least a few days. :)

Karen's writing style is unlike anything I have ever read before. It's the most enchanting stories with vivid detail to characters and events. I am in awe of this woman; it is not humanly possible to not enjoy her books. The characters of Dani "Mega", Lor and Barrons are hands down my favorite. Please oh please, send me a man like Barrons. *sigh* So much raw animal instinct he fogs up my brain with love lust. Yummy good!

With this being the final book (but maybe not really) I can only hope that some spin off books pop up in the future. I fell in love with these characters and would continue to follow them down any path they went.

Getting 5 K'Vruck loving Sheep! :)

  5. If you go to her website you can get some inside info she gave at a chat. All about how she came up with the characters and what not. You can expect to see Dani, V'Lane and Ryo and his gang I think .
