W.I.P. It Real Good - My New And Not-So-Secret Identity - Christina Bauer + giveaway

As part of the launch tour for my new book, FAIRIES AND FROSTING (Magicorum #7), the lovely folks at I Smell Sheep have asked me to share about my newest project. So without further ado… here goes!

New Pen Name! New Adult-Only Content!
You may know me as the author of more than 35 books, including the popular Magicorum series. Normally, I focus on young adult epic fantasy, but some older readers want steamy scenes where the door doesn't shut, if you get my meaning. So I'm thrilled to announce my new alter ego, CEE BEE (in all capital letters because why not?)

This new pen name will launch with a hot vampire romance series that's exclusive to Kindle Vella, AKA Amazon's new service for delivering serialized content. That way, it should prevent my young adult readers from getting confused about adult-adult content. In terms of timing, Kindle Vella is slated to launch in mid-July.

Exclusive Snippet
Here’s a first look at the book, BLOOD SLAVE…

I'm not a screw up. I just have issues with anger. And impulsiveness. Gambling could be in there too.

Fine. I'm a hot mess.

And since I'm not the only one with impulse control issues, my whole family owes big money to the New York Bratva (that's the Russian mob, folks.) Plus my little sister, Sasha, is sick as hell with a mysterious blood disease. Because of our massive debts, we don't have enough money for the fancypants treatments to keep her alive.

To earn cash and save Sasha, I'll work for his Royal Highness, Malcom Vass. He's Scottish royalty, smoking hot, and a manipulative tyrant to anyone on his staff. Word on the street is that Vass is also a vampire who seduces hot twenty-somethings like me, turning them into blood slaves.

Yeah, right. Vampires. Like I believe in that B-S.

So I'll work for the guy for six months and get enough funds to pay the mob and save Sasha. Easy peasy. After all, Vass is simply another hot douchebag in a crown. What could go wrong?

Fairies and Frosting
(Fairy Tales of the Magicorum, #7)

Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult
At last, Elle (never call her Cinderella) is reunited with Alec, the Prince of Le Charme Jewelers. Yay! But the pair soon discovers that Alec’s gemstone empire is about to go bankrupt. Boo. So our favorite couple devises a kick-ass scheme to save Le Charme. To announce their plan, Elle and Alec will hold a Glass Slipper Festival complete with music, dancing and cake. Lots of cake.

There’s only one problem. The Unseelie fae have returned.

Talk about bad news. No one combines lovely looks with dark intentions better than the Unseelie. Now, those nefarious fae want to destroy Elle, Alec and any hope for Le Charme. It doesn’t end there, either. The Unseelie are also targeting Elle’s stepsister, Agatha, as well as her old friend, Jacoby. And when will the Unseelie launch their deadly schemes? The Glass Slipper Festival.

Because fairies and frosting don’t mix.

All of which is why she writes romance novels that feature demons, dragons, wizards, witches, elves, elementals, and a bunch of random stuff that she brainstorms while riding the Boston T. Oh, and she includes lots of humor and kick-ass chicks, too.

One Prince Finds True Love … And Risks It All

Elle Cynder has fallen hard for Alec, the ‘prince’ of Le Charme Jewelers. Time for some happily in their ever after, right?

Not so much.

While the new couple shares joyful moments–and sizzling kisses–serious trouble is brewing. Elle’s evil stepmother, Marchesa, schemes with none other than Alec’s twisted father, Legend. Their plan? Destroy Elle and Alec, along with everything the young lovers hold dear, including Bry, Knox, and Wilhelm.

Another Royal Freezes His Heart … But For How Long?

As a prince of the dark fae, Jacoby focuses on one goal: avoid assassination. Marrying Elle would certainly aid in that cause, considering how she’s both a Cinderella life template and a powerful fae warden. Even better, Jacoby doesn’t truly love Elle. In court life, deep romantic attachments only mean certain death.

Then Jacoby notices Elle’s youngest stepsister, Agatha.

For the first time in his life, Jacoby’s cold heart warms with true affection. The elven prince struggles to ignore his feelings, but it might be a losing battle. And what would the prince’s newfound emotions mean for Elle and Alec? Could Jacoby really stand by and watch another’s true love be destroyed?

Buckle up for a wild ride as Cinderella’s time-honored story gets some all-new twists.

WIP it Real Good: Exclusive sneak peek into a new series by Christina Bauer + giveaway

As part of the launch tour for my new book, SHIFTERS AND GLYPHS, the lovely folks at I Smell Sheep have asked me to share some highlights on a W.I.P (Work In Progress) so I’m going to give you an exclusive sneak peek at my new series, DIMENSION DRIFT. This is a story with a kick-butt heroine who lives in an effed future version of my current home, New England. The story centers on Meimi Archer, a science prodigy and future love interest to the hot guy in her summer school program (who may or may not be an alien.) Here’s the opening scene of the book, where Meimi does some science stuff.

ALIEN MINDS (Dimension Drift Book 1)
Chapter One

Not far now.

Just ahead, a tiny concrete tower rises from a darkened hilltop. Guardhouse #83. I scan the gravel access road. Deserted. Quiet. Perfect. Despite the chilly night air, a rush of excitement warms my limbs.

Time to steal for Mom and science.

Marching to the guardhouse, I stop before the intake window. There’s no need to speak; motion detectors activate the auto-guard. Sure enough, a mechanical buzz sounds as overhead lights click on inside, revealing an animatronic woman sitting at a fake desk. Like most auto-guards, this one is less than perfect, what with her chipped plastic skin, frayed blue uniform, and single functioning eye. Raising her head, she addresses me through the Plexiglas.

“You have reached guardhouse #83 for Reclamation Center Massachusetts-1,” says the auto-guard in a singsong voice. “Founded in 2107, we remain the single largest site for landfill sorting, cleaning, and refurbishment in Reformed New England.”

To kill some time, I adjust the loose straps on my backpack. This auto-guard won’t interact with me until her welcome spiel is over. Sadly, animatronic speeches at Reclamation Center Massachusetts-1—also called RCM1—always take a while…

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Hope you enjoyed this preview—ALIEN MINDS launches in the Spring of 2019. Thanks for asking me to W.I.P. it good, this was a lot of fun!!!

“A fun romp for Twilight Fans” – School Library Journal

After being raised by the meanest fairies in the history of ever, Bryar Rose is now free to live her own life. For the first time, she’s attending West Lake Prep, a regular high school. Well, mostly regular. Some students are actually hidden members of the Magicorum. In other words, they’re really wizards, fairies, or shifters. Bry doesn’t mind, though. She’s thrilled to enjoy all the new experiences of being around normal kids her age, from locker pranks to lunchtime mystery meat. Everything is going along great, except for one thing.

Bry’s dreams about the pyramids of Egypt have gotten darker and more sinister. Every night, she sees her new man Knox and her best friend Elle in danger.

“Exciting and well-conceived” – Kirkus

With no other choice, Bry plans to leave school to explore the pyramids on her own. But her new man Knox discovers the scheme and is having none of it. He wants to stay by her side, no matter what. It’s a good thing too, because Bry must solve the mystery of her attraction to the pyramids and soon. Otherwise, it could cost the lives of those she loves most.

And that means not only Knox, but also her best friend Elle.

“Must-read YA paranormal romance!” – USA Today
