No trace of judgment lingered in her gaze. He lifted his free hand, aching for reassurance that this wasn’t a dream. His fingers slid through her silky hair as he tucked it behind her ear. Words were too insignificant for this moment, or this woman. He met her eyes and whispered, “I should go.”

She tilted her head slightly, her gaze steady. “Why?”

He swallowed the lump in his throat. “Because…if I stay…I may kiss you.”

She didn’t recoil at his confession. Instead, color flushed her pale skin, enticing him closer as he searched her face.

“Don’t go,” she whispered.

He lost his tenuous grip on self-control and leaned in closer, kissing her with an unfamiliar tenderness. His battered heart had been on display for her, his secrets exposed, and instead of rejecting him, she offered acceptance, a safe harbor in the storm of painful memories he’d shouldered alone for centuries.

A risk-taking investment broker by day, and a thief by night, Harmony is a member of the underground Digi Robins crew. Stealing relics to sell on the dark web, they donate the money to people without insurance who need life-saving medical treatments.

What she doesn't realize is the box she just stole is the very one her boss is looking for––the boss who just happens to be an immortal pirate. And as their adventure heads into the danger zone, she doesn't know what's more dangerous: the risk to her life or the risk to her heart.

Sentinels of Savannah is a paranormal romance/pirate adventure series. The books follow a crew of immortal pirates who’ve gained everlasting life by drinking from the Holy Grail. The group has lived for centuries but have successfully adapted to life in current-day Savannah. The ship’s boatswain, John Smyth is a shrewd and successful businessman, but even he has no clue a thief is in his employ. Harmony has a day job for investor Smyth but leads a double life as a highly skilled thief. Harmony works for an illegal band of do-gooders in the tradition of Robin Hood. The group, aptly named Digi Robins, sells their covertly acquired artifacts on the dark web, using the proceeds to help the less fortunate.

As the story progresses, chemistry takes root. John and Harmony find themselves working together to prevent the opening of a literal Pandora’s Box. The plot is part romance, part thriller. It was entertaining and charming with some intriguing romantic interludes along the way. I hadn’t read the first two installments in the series, but had no problem jumping into the story. I liked the inclusion of clandestine government ops colliding with romantic pirates. This leant a little more gravity to the storyline.

An overall good read. While I didn’t wholly connect with the characters, I enjoyed this pirate adventure.
