Book Review: The Magic (Wilds Book 4) by Donna Augustine + giveaway

The Magic: (Wilds Book 4)
by Donna Augustine
Pages: 252
For as long as I’ve lived, Dark Walkers have been hunting Plaguers, seeking them for their magic. But there’s one Plaguer they want most of all. Me.

Since the fall of civilization, the human race has been barely surviving. Another outbreak of the Bloody Death could be our final straw and there’s only one way to ensure that doesn't happen. I need to kill the leader of the Dark Walkers.

I’m stronger than ever but with more to lose than I ever thought possible. For the first time, I feel like I’ve got a family, a home…Dax.

So here I am; ready to fight. Winner take all.

Dal has lost so much yet gained a new family. One that she would do anything to protect even if it could cost her everything. In the final installment of The Wilds series, Dal is still wild and unpredictable but finds herself in a way she never could before. Many different groups come together for the last battle.

The unique relationship between Dax and Dal is one of my favorites. Usually when I read a book it’s the man that can’t figure out the woman but in Augustine’s books it’s the other way around, the woman can’t figure out the man and I like the change of direction. Full of many surprises I think that Augustine did a fantastic job bringing the story to an end. Even though I’m sad that it’s ending I look forward to her next new series Shadow Magic.

Donna Augustine was an odd child, had a brief moment of conformity in early adulthood and then decided to embrace her craziness as the years rolled by. It's her inner crazy that she credits with coming up with the ideas for her books. One part hypochondriac, a few dashes of paranoia, topped with a sliver of uptight and delivered with a relaxed flair, she kicked the proverbial box down the yellow brick road a couple years ago to embrace her true self.

She can be reached by a carrier pigeon, set free in a south by north direction, where she resides in Neverland with her two Siberian cats. Cats who, by the way, aren't as hypoallergenic as she believed they'd be.

For the conventional minded, and those of you without a pigeon on hand, she can be reached at donna@donnaaugustine.com. She responds to most emails within three dusk periods.

P.S. For those of you looking for the discarded box, it was sitting beside the road for a while but has since disappeared completely.

Book Review: The Dead (The Wilds 3) by Donna Augustine + giveaway

The Dead (The Wilds 3)

I'm young to have so many enemies. The Skinners, Dark Walkers, Wood Mist, they all want me for their own reasons. But those were enemies I could fight. Now the disease that changed me forever is back.

It’s reaping death and havoc everywhere it strikes and I’m nearly helpless to stop it except for one chance. There’s a rumor of a cure. But Dax, my ally here in the Wilds, has vengeance on his mind. As I prepare to fight the Bloody Death by any means I can, I might have to leave behind the only man who has ever stood beside me.

Dahlia has a lot of enemies and she doesn’t even know why half of them want her. The ones with names she knows she can fight and probably win but the bloody death is back and her life is going to change once again.

Such an imaginative story from Augustine and probably the best one of this series. There are so many surprises in this book you will not want to miss it. Dahlia is hell bent on finding a cure for the bloody death and will stop at nothing to do so. I really liked some of the new characters introduced in this one but missed some of the old ones that don’t really make an appearance. The chemistry between Dahlia and Dax heat up but keep tissues close for some of the surprises.

Book Review: The Wilds (The Wilds Series Book One) by Donna Augustine

I met a Plaguer today, one of the very few who survived the last outbreak of Bloody Death. She said horrible things about me and my companions. We all called her crazy afterward and claimed this was the reason they needed to be locked up. They spread lies that could hurt our fragile world, nearly brought to extinction 150 years ago.
But here's the catch: she was right about me. I have a niggling fear that she was right about my friends, as well. What if the Plaguers are right about the people in charge? What if they are right about everything?

*This book is for all the Plaguers, the truth sayers branded and marked as liars, often hunted and sometimes forgotten. This book is for the girl who was right.

Dahlia is a Plaguer and has been locked in an insane asylum since she was 4. She is one of very few who survived the Bloody Death and people think she’s crazy. She has learned to keep secret was she can see or her life will be over. She has a plan to escape but that’s easier said than done. Then there’s Dax. She doesn’t know what to make of him. He’s not a Dark Walker but he’s definitely something special. One thing Dahlia knows for sure is that if she ever escapes no one will control her again and she will always fight for those that need it!

This series is different than the others that I’ve read by Augustine. The beginning was slower than I’m used to with her books but I was not disappointed. She is able to make each of her series distinctive whereas some author’s books all have the same feel. This is such a bonus! One of the most unique story lines that kept be guessing all the way to the end. I do have to say that when I got the end of the book I did state I hate you! To the author but only because I need the second book already. You won’t regret reading another exceptional series by Donna Augustine!
