Character Confession: Tegan from Beg Me to Slay by Lisa Kessler + giveaway

Hey there. My name is Tegan. It’s like Megan with a T.

So I’m here with a little confession. My first name was the key to Beg Me to Slay. Seriously.

My author, Lisa Kessler, is a total write-by-the-seat-of-her-pants writer and when she gets a story idea and needs characters, she starts stalking baby name sites. When she stumbled across the name, Tegan, she loved it instantly.

Tegan actually means “beautiful” and it’s a Welsh name. As soon as she discovered that, my father’s name was next, Maddock is a good strong Welsh name and Lisa loved it. His character came alive.

But that’s hardly the “key” to Beg Me to Slay. Once she had my Welsh heritage, and the opening scene written, Gabe came into the picture. Demon Slayer. But what kind of demons?

This is where my name really paid off. Lisa figured since I was Welsh, there must be some Welsh demons… More research and BANG. She discovered Welsh Dragons and the book took off.

So while readers may be super excited about a new paranormal mythology, I’m here to confess that Lisa never set out with the intention to write a Welsh mythological dragon paranormal romance. Nope.

She just liked my name.

Shhhh this is just between us, right?

Tegan Ashton had been attacked four years earlier by a man who she recently witnessed burying a woman on the beach. There are things about her attack that she hadn't told anyone because they would have thought her crazy.

Gabe is a demon hunter and private eye, hired by Tegan to find the man who attacked her. He is emotionally scarred after losing someone close to him in a most horrible way. He knows there's more to this guy stalking Tegan, but how does he explain exactly what's going on without freaking her out?

I liked that although Tegan had been attacked and had been through hell afterwards, she could still kick some demon ass. She owns a dojo and teaches karate, so she knows how to defend herself.

The twists and turns this story took really made it a page turner. Gabe and Tegan are given small bits and pieces of a much larger puzzle and have to try and figure out why a demon wants Tegan so badly. When they finally piece everything together, I was shocked and excited to see where this story was going to end up. It's like seeing the final pieces in a good mystery and knowing how all the facts go together and why things happened the way they did.

These two have pasts that prevent them from wanting to meet someone new to love, pasts that have wounded them emotionally, but once they are alone together there's not much that can keep the sparks from flying. The emotional scars start to heal as they get rid of the demons who have haunted their past, but they still have a long way to go. These two are made for each other but they never would have met if Tegan hadn't been attacked and she never would have found out about the secrets in her family if she hadn't met Gabe. This book shows us that even if we don't know why things happen the way they do, they happen for a reason. Sometimes we find out why and sometimes we don't. Tegan and Gabe do and it makes the whole story come together so wonderfully.

The sex is hot and even though Gabe is a big bad demon hunter, he knows how to seduce a woman. There were some kick ass fight scenes. Nothing like battling demons and witches to get the heart racing.

If you like Demons, dragons, witches, black magic and two people who find each other right when they need to, then this is the book for you.

5 sheep!

As the Phoenix prince, Reece is next in line to the throne and expected to marry a purebred royal. A common human such as Ambrosia is not in the cards. He swears, though, he’ll never be an absentee father.

As Ambrosia’s due date grows closer, so do the soon-to-be parents. But will their tentative love survive the prejudice of Reece’s grandmother, who will stop at nothing to tear the two apart?
