Sunday Swag: PNR Author Julie Morgan

Sunday Swag Team!

 I Smell Sheep

Today's feature Author: Julie Morgan

About the Author:
Born in Fort Worth, Texas I moved to Florida in 2004. I married the love of my life in 2005 and I'm the mother of an amazing little girl! Software analyst by trade, super geeky girl who loves Star Wars, Star Trek (the new movies too) and LOVE getting lost in novels. I enjoy many genres but my favorites would be paranormal/fantasy/romance, sci-fi/romance, murder/mystery/suspense, and the occasional YA that catches my attention.

I've dabbled in writing most of my life from writing poetry to writing a few short stories. In 2007 I wrote my first novel but never took it beyond finishing it. Maybe one day I will. July of 2013 I began my adventure of writing my first novel, Fallen. My goal is to publish it December 2013. It's a paranormal/romance that pushes the edge of what we know about angels and demons. Select the books tab or visit my Facebook page for a synopsis of the Fallen series as well as Southern Roots.

When I'm not writing I review books by fellow author friends and authors I've not had the pleasure of meeting. One of the best things I can say about writing is creating the world the characters live in. It's an excuse to become temporarily insane and allow the voices in your head to actually talk to you. Getting lost in the story and becoming the characters, even if just for an hour, is one of the best ways to escape normal reality.

Sheep Book Review: 'Sins of the Angels' by Linda Poitevin

Grigori Legacy Series Book #1

A detective with a secret lineage. An undercover Hunter with a bullet-proof soul. And a world made to pay for the sins of an angel…

Homicide detective Alexandra Jarvis answers to no one. Especially not to the new partner assigned to her in the middle of a gruesome serial killer case—a partner who is obstructive, irritatingly magnetic, and arrogant as hell.

Aramael is a Power—a hunter of the Fallen Angels. A millennium ago, he sentenced his own brother to eternal exile for crimes against humanity. Now his brother is back and wreaking murderous havoc in the mortal realm. To find him, Aramael must play second to a human police officer who wants nothing to do with him and whose very bloodline threatens both his mission and his soul.

Now, faced with a fallen angel hell-bent on triggering the apocalypse, Alex and Aramael have no choice but to join forces, because only together can they stop the end of days

With a clever mixing of angel mythology and the murder suspense genre, Poitevin has created a unique and satisfying Dark Urban Fantasy. I really enjoyed the world of Angels she created. Most angel books out there are PNR and focus more on the romance between the angel and their mate. Instead, this story focused on the workings of angel society; it's a sad and fascinating story that has left the angels with out soul mates and the free will that they once enjoyed. Sacrifices are going to have to be made and loyalties tested as a conspiracy 4000 years in the making tries to turn the human realm into a battleground between Heaven and Hell.

Our heroine, Alex, is a tough homicide detective working on a violent serial killer case. Her world gets turned upside down when Aramael, a hunter angel with an attitude and a whole lot of power, is sent to recapture a fallen angel who is killing humans. There is a lot of hostility between the two when they first meet and an attraction that shouldn’t be possible. Like most straight-up UFs this story doesn’t spend a lot of time on the romantic aspect of their relationship; the sexual tension is thick enough to cut with a knife, but so is the animosity between them. I am a big fan of love/hate relationships. Their story is bitter sweet and I look forward to seeing where Poitevin will go with it.

There is a good amount of action and suspense as Alex and Armael try to track down the Fallen Angel Caim. He makes a great villain because he is insane and holds a grudge against Armael and realizes hurting Alex is the best way to make him pay.

If you are looking for a different kind of angel story then this is it. There is a stronger UF element than romantic, but the ending leaves open so many possibilities.

Crave, much better then the first book.

Crave by author J.R. Ward is the second novel in her Fallen Angels series. The first novel, Covet, was too slow for me, but this book is MUCH better!

I am a HUGE fan of Ward. I LOVE her vampire series, Black Dagger Brotherhood. (V, come rescue me anytime my man) I almost gave up on this series but I wanted to give it one more try. I am glad I did. The book did drag a bit in areas, but it was leaps and bounds better then the first one.

Book Description:
Seven deadly sins. Seven souls that must be saved. One more no-holds- barred battle between a fallen angel with a hardened heart and a demon with everything to lose.

Isaac Rothe is a black ops soldier with a dark past and a grim future. The target of an assassin, he finds himself behind bars, his fate in the hands of his gorgeous public defender Grier Childe. His hot attraction to her can only lead to trouble-and that's before Jim Heron tells him his soul is in danger. Caught up in a wicked game with the demon who shadows Jim, Isaac must decide whether the soldier in him can believe that true love is the ultimate weapon against evil.

It's angles vs. demons in a game whose outcome decides the fate of humanity. Can good triumph in the end? Thats what we are waiting to find out. There were strange rules placed on the game they are playing, I found it a little difficult to understand. It's never clearly written what qualifies as "cheating". :(

Sexy men fighting for the good of mankind. I love it. Action and adventure round out the story. I could have used a little more in the romance department and maybe a bit less focus on the side characters. But, thats just me and my addiction. lol

Overall the book is above average, with still a little more to be desired in up coming books.
Getting 3 and 1/2 sheep. :)
