Runtime: 130 minutes

Acclaimed writer and director Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) pays tribute to mystery mastermind Agatha Christie in KNIVES OUT, a fun, modern-day murder mystery where everyone is a suspect. (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after
When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan's dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan's untimely death. With an all-star ensemble cast including Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, and Jaeden Martell, KNIVES OUT is a witty and stylish whodunit guaranteed to keep audiences guessing until the very end.

Went to see Knives Out with my husband and 18-year-old daughter. Holly and I enjoyed it much more than my husband who thought it dragged. Knives Out is an excellent murder-mystery movie. Fabulous acting cast, great script with the right amount of dark humor.

The story moves in a step-by-step fashion like a typical murder-mystery. There is one car chase! But this the movie's strength is in the cast and story.

Knives Out isn't the type of movie you need to see on the big screen (though an argument can be made that Chris Evens needs to be seen on one). But if you enjoy a quality murder-mystery and looking for something to do on a cold day, then this is worth a watch.

Don gave it 3 1/2 sheep

Desperate to uncover the truth, Banning turns to unlikely allies to help clear his name, keep his family from harm and save the country from imminent danger.

Went to see Angel has Fallen with my husband and 18-year-0ld daughter. We are fans of the first two movies, Olympus has Fallen and London has Fallen. We enjoyed the action element of Angel has Fallen but from a story standpoint it is the weakest of the three films.

The main premise that everyone believes Mike Bannon actually did the dirty deed is stupid if you've seen the other movies. The whole thing is on big action movie troupe so there are no surprises. You'll know who the bad guy is in the opening scene because...wow, that's one of the biggest action hero movie cliches there is. I think the creators knew this so they countered the poor story with even bigger explosions and adding Mike Bannon's quirky dad to the mix. Which was a smart move. While I rolled my eyes at the plot, I was enjoying the hell out of the action scenes, which have been stellar throughout the series, and found the dad funny. Especially the after-credit scene.

If you enjoy the realistic special effects in the Mike Bannon movies then this is one worth a matinee price.

My husband gives it 4 1/2 sheep cause he doesn't care about plot.

I give it 3.75 "peeing" Sheep

Sheep Movie Review: KIN (2018)

KIN (2018)
August 31, 2018 (USA)
Directors: Josh Baker, Jonathan Baker
Based on: Bag Man; by Jonathan Baker; Josh Baker
Cast:
Jack Reynor, Zoë Kravitz, Dennis Quaid, James Franco, Myles Truitt

Rating: PG-13 (for gun violence and intense action, suggestive material, language, thematic elements and drinking)
Genre: Action & Adventure, Science Fiction & Fantasy
Written By: Daniel Casey
Runtime: 102 minutes
Studio: Lionsgate
KIN, a pulse-pounding crime thriller with a sci-fi twist, is the story of an unexpected hero destined for greatness. Chased by a vengeful criminal (James Franco), the feds and a gang of otherworldly soldiers, a recently released ex-con (Jack Reynor) and his adopted teenage brother (Myles Truitt) are forced to go on the run with a weapon of mysterious origin as their only protection.

Based on the movie poster you go in thinking this is a science fiction movie...well, it kind of is...the last 10%. But if you read the blurb it says crime thriller with a sci-fi twist and even that is a bit misleading cause it isn't so much a crime thriller as a dark on-the-run from a psycho criminal story. Basically, it wasn't what I thought it would be. AND it might be rated PG-13 and have a 14-year-old protag but the first 90% of the movie is pretty dark and violent even though there isn't much blood and a lot of the killing happens off camera.

Let's talk about that 10% sci-fi part at the very end. That was cool but in a Power Rangers movie kind of way. That's right, it was like they wrote the movie and stuck on an ending from a different type of movie (the one I thought I was going to see and probably the tone of any possible TV series).

I'm not sure why this was released in theaters. Based on the story, it is more like a TV series pilot...and since KIN was produced by the producers of Stranger Things, this isn't a surprise. It should have debut Netflix. The movie is an origin story for Elijah Solinski and just when we find out his part in the story, it is over.

You can guess I don't recommend seeing this in the theater, wait for it to show up on TV. What I do recommend, is watching the short film KIN is based on, Bag Man. It was written and directed by the same people. It is free to watch here: http://www.bagmanshortfilm.com/

Sheep Movie Review: American Assassin (2017)

American Assassin (2017)
Sep 15, 2017
Directed By: Michael Cuesta
Written By: Stephen Schiff, Michael Finch, Edward Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz
Cast: Dylan O'Brien (II), Michael Keaton, Sanaa Lathan, Taylor Kitsch, Shiva Negar
Rating: R (for strong violence throughout, some torture, language and brief nudity)
Genre: Action & Adventure, Drama, Mystery & Suspense
Studio: Lionsgate and CBS Films
AMERICAN ASSASSIN follows the rise of Mitch Rapp (Dylan O'Brien) a CIA black ops recruit under the instruction of Cold War veteran Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton). The pair is then enlisted by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan) to investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on both military and civilian targets. Together the three discover a pattern in the violence leading them to a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent (Shiva Negar) to stop a mysterious operative (Taylor Kitsch) intent on starting a World War in the Middle East.

Went to see American Assassin with husband and 16-year-old daughter. We love action movies like Jason Bourne and Jack Reacher and this is the same type of movie. It is based off the Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn.

We really enjoyed the movie. There are lots of hand-to-hand combat scenes. But like most espionage movies, there are slow story building parts. The payoff was worth it for the bomb a$$ ending! Pun intended. American Assassin had an exciting and suspenseful conclusion. Not many movies can have me at the edge of my seat. There are quite a few plot twists I didn't see coming.

Michael Keeton's character is kind of generic for this genre, but Dylan O'Brien rocked his role. I think he has a future in action movies. Hard to believe the actor that started out as derpy Stiles on Teen Wolf...ended up like this.
Maybe for the next movie he can shave that soul patch in the middle of his chest off.

If you like these type of movies then this is worth a watch.

Don and Holly gave it 4.5 Sheep
I give it 4 "assassin" Sheep
