Format: Digital/Paperback
Digital ISBN: 978-0- 9964763-4- 8

Freelance investigator Isaac Camacho has a weakness for bitchy blondes, and no one fits the bill quite like former beauty queen and gold digger Tamara Post. She’s sexy, feisty and on the run from a cult leader. Complicated women? Oh he loves them almost as much as he loves watching Tamara act like a total ice queen when he knows she burns white hot.

Calculating opportunist Tamara Post never cared what anyone thought about her—except for her sister. But when her sister dies, it’s up to Tamara to hide her teenage niece so the girl’s dictatorial father can’t marry her off to one of his disciples. The last thing Tamara has time for is Isaac—a man who flirts as well as he fills out a pair of worn jeans and whose stubborn determination to help makes it hard to act as if she’s really as cold as she appear.

When the bad guys find her, there’s only one person Tamara can depend on to help keep her alive until her niece is safe. But once the life and death chase is on, it’s not just their lives Tamara and Isaac are risking…but their hearts.

So, anyone who knows me will gather these three things right off the bat. I love sexy men. I love Coke-Cola. I love sexy men. When asked if lil' ole me wanted to review a sexy book with the title "Bang", I was like...okay, MAYBE. But then you throw in that said mentioned bang-worthy cover boy is also a Marine? Yeah, I'm sold.

I didn't know this author, her books or her previous works. Sometimes that's better. You don't walk into a story with expectations set sky high. You ease right in and feel around for a bit, before long you soon realize you may actually like this non-vampire romance. There's hot and heavy mixed in with sassy chicks and more sexy men just to get you all hot and bothered some more. I mean, we all need some hot and heavy in our lives!

Plenty of tasty story to fulfill any ones appetite for romance, while adding in dangerous notes of adventure along the way. This one's paced just right to fit it's less then 200 pages. A well thought out story that takes the reader from start to finish with ease. I was completely entertained and left with my romance belly filled to just the right amount!

Bang: B-Squad Book 2 by Avery Flynn
Chapter One – Reveal Three

Isaac Camacho shouldn't be noticing how good Tamara smelled.

One, it was weird. He was, after all, hustling through the club's hectic kitchen with one super-sexy, kinda bitchy blonde—his favorite kind—for parts unknown. He should be noticing her ass under that swishy green skirt, not something lame like the fact that she smelled like peach tea spiked with bourbon.

Two, they were dodging steaming pots and hot plates because ugly-as-roadkill bounty hunter Archie Wolczyk was hot on their heels. Even if his former life as a Recon Marine hadn't taught him the importance of survival, his stint in the county jail should have been more than enough to get an important lesson through even his thick skull: Being locked up in the pokey wasn't his style.

So instead of getting distracted by her perfume, he needed to get them both out of here before he ended up separated from the love of his life—women, all of them—for whatever stretch of jail time the judge decided aiding and abetting a fugitive deserved.

"Left." He pressed his palm against the small of her back, noting that his hand spanned almost the entirety of her waist, and guided her past the walk-in fridge and toward the employee break room.

She followed directions but shot him a quick glare over her shoulder.

Prickly little ice queen, wasn't she?

As they hurried through the break room, he ignored the surprised faces of the staff members swapping out street shoes for clogs, but gave a quick wink to the sous chef who'd given him the after-hours all-access kitchen tour a few weeks ago. Stephanie? Stacy? Selena? Sarah. That was it. Then almost as fast as he and Tamara had rushed into the break room, they were out the reinforced steel door and into the fenced-in part of the parking lot. It stank of cooking grease and rotting food from the nearby pair of Dumpsters that had been broiling in the Texas heat for the past few days. He peeked over the privacy fence, scanning the lot for the bounty hunter's backup. He spotted a couple getting out of a sedan, a valet sneaking a smoke, and a stray cat with one ear slinking between the cars.

Nothing of consequence stood between them and his truck, which was combat parked just outside the gate, ready as always for a quick getaway. He unlocked the doors with his key fob and opened the passenger door, then held out his hand to help Tamara up onto the running board. She was tall, but his oversized tires—perfect for off-roading—were no joke.

"No way." She took a step back, as if she could still escape.

It was cute.

"We don't have time for me to sweet-talk you, darlin', so let me put it this way. You either get that fine ass of yours in the truck or I'll expend the itty bitty amount of energy it would take for me to pick you up and flop you down in there."

The start of a snarl curled up one side of her mouth and she took another step back. "Look, I appreciate you giving me the heads up about the bounty hunter, but I don't know you and there's no way in hell I'm getting in your truck."

So, plan B it was.

Jane Yellowrock Short Story pt. 3 by Faith Hunter (Shadow Rites Book Tour) + giveaway

Short Story pt.3
IT’S JUST A DATE Part THREE
From the world of Jane Yellowrock
Copyright Faith Hunter

I opened the door to see Bruiser on the front stoop, leaning against the post that held up the gallery overhead. His dark hair was hanging over his forehead, a little too long, his Roman nose slightly reddened from a day in the sun. His dress slacks were pressed to a perfect crease, the sleeves of his white shirt were rolled up to show off his well-muscled arms, and his shoes were polished to a high shine. The only odd note was the double shoulder rig that would be hidden beneath his sports jacket when we got to the restaurant. His lips turned up in reaction to my perusal, and he held out a single dark red rose, the exact shade of my favorite lipstick. Scent had nearly been bred out of red roses, and because my skinwalker senses made flowers with scents a bad prezzi, the rose was perfect for me in every way.
I accepted the bloom, and the heat in his eyes made it seem as if I were accepting something far more valuable than a flower from him. His fingers caressed along mine, lingering on the ring I wore.

“Jane,” he said. Just that. My name.
And something that was both icy and scorching raced along my nerves, beneath my flesh.
Mate, my Beast purred. Would rather have cow than plant.

Mentally, I shushed her, and shoved aside the image of Bruiser meeting me at the door with a raw steak in his hand. “Hiya, Bruiser,” I said, moving back to invite him in. I stepped into the kitchen for a vase, my low heels clicking. I could feel his eyes on my butt the whole way.
“Get a room,” the Kid grouched, proving me right.
I grinned. Bruiser laughed. He was closer than I thought, his mouth suddenly at my ear as he reached around and took the narrow white vase from my hands. He pinned my hips to the counter with his body and held me lightly in place with his body as he filled the vase with water and placed the rose inside. He was Onorio hot. Burning through my clothes to my skin. A human that warm would be in a hospital, packed with ice bags. I took a breath and smelled his faintly citrusy scent.
“Shall we place it by your bed?” he murmured, his lips moving on the side of my arched neck. His heat shot through me like lightning. I dropped my head back to his shoulder. At six feet, there weren’t many men I could do that to and not hurt myself, but Bruiser was a big man. “So it can be seen when we wake?”
“You’ll make us late,” Eli said, the words bland but somehow amused.
Without raising his voice Bruiser said, “Your timing is dreadful, as usual.”

“His timing is fantastic,” Syl said. “But you two can romance after we eat. I’m starving.”
“Triple date,” Bruiser said, straightening.

“I have a feeling it will not go well.”

Book Review: The Kraken King (Parts 1-3) by Meljean Brook

The Kraken King (Part I)
By: Meljean Brook
Romance, Steampunk
Pub Date: April 15th, 2014

Plot:
A former smuggler and thief, Ariq—better known as the Kraken King—doesn’t know what to make of the clever, mysterious woman he rescues from an airship besieged by marauders. Unsure if she’s a spy or a pawn in someone else’s game, Ariq isn’t about to let her out of his sight until he finds out…

After escaping her fourth kidnapping attempt in a year, Zenobia Fox has learned to vigilantly guard her identity. While her brother Archimedes is notorious for his exploits, Zenobia has had no adventures to call her own—besides the stories she writes...

...but when she jumps at the chance to escape to the wilds of Australia and acquire research for her next story, Zenobia quickly discovers the voyage will be far more adventurous than any fiction she could put to paper.

I'm the first to admit, I love Steampunk fashion, but for whatever reason…I can't get into the fantasy stories. Until now. Yes, you read that right! Katie is digging some Steampunk Romance!!!

The first book in this series really does a great job of setting the foundation for the next installment to come. Our leading lady starts out the saga with some high-flying action, literally. I loved it. I love her body guards/companions and meeting Ariq (Sounds like Eric) *fans self*, yeah I'm all kinds of into Kraken romance for sure!

Tentacle arms? There's no mention yet, but he is named after the sea monster so…..hey either way, I'm into it!

I only wish the story was longer! All too soon things are cut off and you're left feeling ripped off. MORE STORY!!! I'm needy and I don't care who knows it
.

The Kraken King (Part II)
By: Meljean Brook
Romance, Steampunk
Pub Date: April 22nd, 2014

Plot:
As they continue their expedition across Australia, Ariq is determined to stay close to Zenobia and figure out what kind of game she’s playing—even as his admiration for the enigmatic woman starts to override his suspicion.

For Zenobia, revealing her identity to a man who once made his living outside of the law is out of the question—even though Ariq’s dashing looks and blunt manner are distractingly appealing.

But before anyone’s secrets or desires can be exposed, an unexpected attack threatens to destroy them all…

I thought book one started with a bang, dear Kraken was I wrong. Book two gets even better! There was such a shocking/emotional scene in this edition, I really had no clue who was going to live or die. Nail bitter!

I'm finding myself lost in this Steampunk world, and while it's still hard to really get into the mechanical side of it all, I am loving the drama between our main pair.

Sometimes you're totally wrong with assumptions about people and Zenobia is quick to come to her conclusions. Totally understandable when you've been used and abused for so long. PS: Mean people suck.

This voyage is becoming an epic journey that's sure to change lives! I'm all in. Cash in the chips and call me an addict. I want more, give me more! There's another story arc in the book but I don't care about that. I skip right over it to get to the Kraken!

The Kraken King (Part III)
By: Meljean Brook
Romance, Steampunk
Pub Date: April 29th, 2014

Plot:
After a harrowing escape, Zenobia, Ariq, and their company take refuge in a gold rush town—but their temporary port is anything but safe. When Zenobia is almost abducted, Ariq comes to her rescue and asks for something in return: he wants to know her secrets.

Zenobia reveals that her aim is to collect information for her next story, but Ariq can’t believe that her motives are so simple. Suspecting that all of Zenobia’s “research” is actually an intelligence-gathering effort for the Horde rebellion, Ariq decides to employ a new tactic to get the truth.

Shocked and overwhelmed by Ariq’s sudden seduction, Zenobia isn’t sure his interest is sincere. But while her head is telling her to keep him at arm’s length, her heart is an entirely different matter…

As I dived into part III, things between our lead pair start out with angst and drama, but then kind of lull in the middle. I did not see this coming. Ariq spends a lot of time with everyone OTHER then Zenobia. My girl gets no love.

I get it, the author is showing other sides to this world, but I am greedy and want more of the main pair. Too much time is spent talking to this vishous lord and that, gah, give me more between the pair!

Just when I'm about to skim read to the end, the action picks back up and Ariq throws himself in the heart of danger to save his lady love! Finally! Meljean, don't tease me with drama and action and get side tracked. I'm an addict who needs a fix. Shoot the next story into my vein and let's get this party started!

I can't wait for fourth story and will gladly cause murder to get it. You can quote me on that. *winks*
