Sheep Book Review: Angel in Chains + Giveaway!

Angel in Chains, book three in The Fallen series, is a PNR by author Cynthia Eden, and is an entertaining bayou party with all the paranormal bag of tricks you can throw your beads at!

Plot:

As a fallen Angel of Death, Azrael is cursed to walk the earth alone in search of redemption. One night, as he wanders the streets of New Orleans, he discovers a woman surrounded by panther shifters. No longer able to contain the anger simmering within, Az summons his dark powers and attacks, determined to protect this innocent human from certain death.

Only Jade Pierce is no delicate flower. She's spent years learning to survive and fight the evil forces sent by her ex-lover who refuses to let her go. But after seeing Az in action, she figures she could use a little supernatural help. And so she plans a course of seduction guaranteed to arouse his interest and his angelic passions...

Our story picks up as Azrael, the Angel of Death, is walking around minding his own business and stumbles upon a gal being mugged down a dark alley near the French Quarter. Now, I've been to NOLA and yeah some parts are a bit sketchy, but this time it's not the humans doing the mugging. It's a pack of wolves, on the hunt for the packmaster's gal Jade. Although that gal wants no part of the pack, the wolves seem to not understand and want to force her back to the wolfy side.

Jade is feisty as heck and won't back down or submit to the tyranny of a deranged pack, all she wants is freedom (which William Wallace can totally understand!) and the right to choose how she will live her life. But story being what it is, Jade is our lady in distress and Azrael is the Angel who just happens to be in the right place at the right time. Then we're off into a steamy bayou adventure across the Louisiana countryside and back again!

Though this couple's struggle is not an easy one, the best love stories never are and they become united against a common foe and lead the way to an epic battle. Plot twists and turns keep the adventure going while romance heats up the pages!

Angel in Chains is a fun read that's enjoyable for all PNR fans looking for some darker angels that walk the line between goodboy and badboy. You can easily pick up from this point, as I did, and not feel lost in the series whatsoever!

Sheep Book Review: Changeling Dawn by Dani Harper

Changeling Dawn, by author Dani Harper, is the third novel in the Changeling series. I feel the wild calling to my bones with Dani at the helm. *howls at the moon* Readers are taken to the great outdoors to live it up with some beastly delicious men.

Plot:
Kenzie Macleod has spent her whole life hiding the fact that she's a werewolf. She's not about to open up to any man, even one as powerfully attractive as wildlife expert Josh Talarkoteen. But legend says that a Changeling cannot escape the call of her true mate, even in the wilderness of backcountry Alaska. An isolated archaeological site, a terrified Changeling cub, a shadowy research facility - as Kenzie and Josh face the ultimate betrayal, his obsidian eyes promise untold pleasure and hint at dark secrets of his own...

I'm a big fan of the PNR world and sitting at the top of my list are only a handful of authors, one of which is Dani Harper. Not only can Dani create meaningful stories, she can breathe life into characters and give them true depth. Dani's latest book deals with some major prejudice issues that still plague our world today. But clever writing aside, Dani also deliveries some powerful characters; there are no fluffy men or women in her books. These guys and gals come with some cojones and will always stand up for the little guy. Passion and a level of excellence are what you come to expect with these books but you'll also get a ton of tribal lore and legends, its history and smex all warped up in one.

One of the other pleasures I enjoyed while reading this book was getting out into nature. For someone who hates to camp (and is terrified of the dark) it's such a pleasurable escape to have a story take me on. Dani brings you deep into the thick of things, you feel like you're right there in the camp or romping around the forest in wolf form. You can taste, touch and smell the words coming off of these pages. It's a nature feast from beginning to end without the muss and fuss of actually camping. :P

Our main characters Kenzie and Josh are an absolute riot. The banter and playful nature of the two keep the story rolling along nicely. When the hot and heavy romance comes along you might just catch yourself turning on the fan! Come claw me anytime my friend. Josh is the type of man that any lady would fall for, and with his generous spirit and skillful background in the military he makes one deadly combo.

While vampires will always hold the main spot in my undead heart I'd gladly go for a night on the town with any of these boys! Grab yourself a wolf pack of sexy to go!

Changeling Moon, stop sniffing my butt!

Changeling Moon, by PNR author Dani Harper, is the first book in her new Changeling Series. It's wolf sexy mixed with mystery, drama and steamy love scenes all set to the pace of a howling moon. This vamp gal loved Changeling Moon from beginning to end. :)

Plot:
He roams the moonlit wilderness, his every sense and instinct on high alert. Changeling wolf Connor Macleod and his Pack have never feared anything--until the night human ZoeyTyler barely escapes a rogue werewolf's vicious attack.
As the full moon approaches, Zoey has no idea of the changes that are coming, and only Connor can show her what she is, and help her master the wildness inside. With her initiation into the Pack just days away and a terrifying predator on the loose, the tentative bonds of trust and tenderness are their only weapons against a force red in tooth, claw... and ultimate evil.

Zoey has been on the run for a long time, always fearful the secrets she holds inside will come out for the world to see. Coming from a famous family really does not help her keep those secrets. Zoey has some trust issues but one spunky personality. Rock on Zoey! As editor of a small Canadian town newspaper she finds a little peace, but things come crashing down as she gets viciously attacked by a deranged wolf. Enter Connor, the town vet with a heart of platinum and the smoking hot looks to melt ice with just a glance. Zoey and Connor have an instant attraction that grows throughout the story, adding to the building plot line. The book had a few cheesy lines here and there, but nothing that couldn't be shrugged off. And sometimes people do have a cheesy side to them that just needs to get out. Also with Changeling wolves things can get a little unbelievable, but Dani sells this story very well with some original ideas added to the mix. I truly felt as if it "could" happen, and I loved that.

Things start to heat up as the death toll rises and spreads panic through the small town, as a result the pack is forced to hunt down one of their own. But the illusive wolf is giving them all a run for their money. Power corrupts absolutely and one man will stop at nothing to get what he wants. If you like mystery and PNR you will enjoy this story. Side characters like Connor's brothers had an easy flow to their characters as well, it was an effortless inclusion and completely believable. One thing that was a little off is the cover with the gal wearing the necklace. I was hoping that may get covered in the story but it never happened. So I'm really looking forward to getting an explanation later in the series....and from what my undead vamp friend told me the necklace will be revealed by book 6! :)

Book two Changeling Dream is coming out June 28th and I am eagerly awaiting that day!
PS no butt sniffing actually took place during the story. :P

Play of Passion, wolf pack sexy?

Play of Passion by NYTBS author Nalini Singh is the latest installment in her Psy-Changeling series. While not a big fan of werewolves and shape-shifters in general, I really enjoyed this steamy novel. *howls to the moon*

In Play of Passion we follow the stories of Indigo Riviere and Drew Kincaid. Indigo is the high ranking dominant Lieutenant with the reputation of being cold as ice. She takes her position amongst her clan very seriously and very rarely allows any males skin privileges. [aka snuggles and cuddles] But with an unseen enemy attacking the pack, she is forced to work with fellow den male Drew; and for me that would be a delightful pleasure.

Drew is the sex-in-spades Tracker of the SnowDancer wolf pack: carefree and playful with his fellow brothers and sisters, craved by the ladies for his master skills in the sack. Although his job is all business and one that only he can do, as he has the powerful skills necessary. Drew may not be ranked as one of the Lieutenants, but he is all alpha male. While the sexy male is head over heels for Indigo, she would rather be with someone older and high ranking as she is herself. Can her wolf accept the male her body is craving? Does the younger male have a shot at melting the ice wall she surrounds herself in? Have to read to find out. :)

Previous characters make a reappearance in Play of Passion. Introduction of new characters and ongoing build up with others. I can't wait for the next novel to come out! Nalini gives her characters an authentic appeal and continues to thicken the plot line, while not drawing it to far. I loved this book and I highly recommend it. Vamp free but wolf sexy!
