Most series would have lost my interest by now but not the SWAT series by Paige Tyler! She’s back with an all new book in the super hot, super intense series about a group of alpha werewolves working as a SWAT unit in Dallas. The series has expanded since the first book and now includes beta wolves, omega wolves, and more. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the direction this series is heading.

Taking the lead this time is werewolf Jayden Brooks, a character longtime fans (like me) are familiar with. He essentially rescues teacher Selena Rosa from a hostage situation involving one of her former students when he realizes she’s The One. Basically, it means she’s the one fated to be his lifetime love and partner. But of course, things get complicated real fast because that hostage situation just triggered Selena’s werewolf gene and she’s going through the change. Worse, she’s showing signs of becoming an omega wolf, the most out of control and violent breed Brooks has come across.

Wolf Rising takes on a more urgent tone than its predecessors because the werewolf hunters introduced a few books back are getting more and more aggressive in their quest to eradicate Brooks and his fellow wolves. There’s a lot of tension present throughout the whole story and the hunters serve as a conflict that is going to take not just all of the SWAT team, but all the allies they’ve managed to make along the way. It’s a two steps forward, three steps back kind of game that has me coming back to this series as eager as I was when I picked up the first book a few years ago.

As bad as the hunters are, they don’t take away the spotlight from Brooks and Selena. Their romance is complicated but it’s a solid one, and yes it is a case of near instantaneous love for them, but because Wolf Rising is a paranormal romantic suspense it works really well. Brooks is total boyfriend material and Selena is a tough as nails woman more than capable of learning to control her aggressive wolf side which was a conflict all its own. In this book, readers learn more about the omega wolves that up until now were thought to be irredeemable and dangerous. I really love how Tyler has managed to keep the series fresh by weaving more strands into a world she’s already established without overcomplicating things or confusing readers. She doesn’t overdo it when she’s rehashing previous events to catch new readers up, and she makes sure that longtime readers get fresh, new material.

One of the constant things I really enjoy about Wolf Rising and the books before it is the relationship and work dynamic between the SWAT team. They’re not a group of wolves following an alpha, they’re ALL alpha wolves. They just don’t have the controlling d-bag tendencies that seem to be popular in other sub-genres of romance. These wolves are big, bad, and dangerous but they also have the ability to crack readers up with their sometimes childish teasing of each other. Brooks gets teased by his fellow alphas but he knows that they are the ones he can count on to watch his back. After they’ve made fun of him of course. I love those guys. Every single one of them.

Overall, Wolf Rising is a stand out addition to the SWAT series with the edge-of-your-seat suspense, red-hot romance, and a cast of werewolves that you can’t help but fall in love with. I can’t wait for the next book.

Get ready for another action-packed installment of Paige Tyler’s SWAT series!

The guys are back in Dallas and trying to cope with the new information about werewolf hunters that they gained in New Orleans. At an awards ceremony of a few of their own, Max Lowry meets Lana Mason and knows she’s the fated One for him. She also happens to be a werewolf but before Max can settle in and do his own happy dance, he finds out that Lana doesn’t know she’s a werewolf AND she’s the daughter of the deputy chief in charge of the police department’s specialized Tactical Division aka the guy in charge of the SWAT team. So instead of making things easy it actually makes things worse but Max isn’t one to give up and so he and Lana start dating like normal humans. Until the threat of the werewolf hunters reaches Dallas and Max has no choice but to give Lana a crash course on what she is. She doesn’t handle it well of course and the timing couldn’t be worse as the SWAT team is being spread thin with so many werewolves coming to them for protection.

I always enjoy each couple in the SWAT series but Max and Lana are definitely one of my favorites. Max has always seemed like a happy-go-lucky guy until you find out (or remember if you’re a long time fan) that Tyler’s werewolves don’t become werewolves until they’ve experienced a traumatic event. Max’s “event” is one that can hit home for victims of domestic violence because Max is a victim. As big, strong, and good as he is, his past shows a time when he wasn’t. It makes him relatable and an almost perfect hero. He’s funny, charming, and has a protective streak a mile wide.

Lana surprised me too. First of all, she didn’t have a clue that she was a werewolf so that made things a bit interesting. She was so spunky and sassy too! And confident! Lana didn’t let anyone, even her dad cast her into the role of the powerless, placating female while he played the bossy, overprotective father. She was an adult and let him know it.

Paige Tyler delivered more this time around and it made Wolf Trouble a better story for it. There’s more action, more suspense, more romance, and of course more hunky SWAT guys because this book, while a standalone romance needs Max’s fellow alpha wolves to really make the secondary plot work. The book packs a real punch as the impending clash with the vicious and violent werewolf hunters takes a big step forward and hits the SWAT guys close to home. Before this conflict, these wolves were virtually unbeatable and invulnerable to anything but the women (and men) they end up falling for but these hunters aren’t messing around and they’ve come prepared. At one point Wolf Trouble had me biting my nails because Max and his pack were NOT prepared for the attacks against them and it was a close call! That’s good writing folks and I can’t wait to see how the SWAT guys and ladies fight back.

Eleven books in and Paige Tyler has not lost the magic with the SWAT series! There’s a character for every reader and then some!

SWAT member Diego finally gets his own book! Diego can read hostile situations better than his teammates, and he has a knack for being able to talk down most of the dangerous people he comes across. It is what makes him essential as the team’s negotiator. And it is how he meets Bree and her teenage son.

Diego and Bree made such a good couple. I loved how grounded both characters were and how both were naturally nurturing and caring of each other and of Brandon, who happens to be a werewolf. Diego helped Brandon transition into his new life as a beta, all while he was falling for Bree and helping his SWAT team deal with an increasing number of calls for help kept the book at a brisk, intense, and interesting pace. There’s a buildup to something bigger in the plot, and I’m excited to see where this new threat takes these characters and the series.

Wolf Untamed is the first SWAT book to have the influence of the spin-off STAT series woven throughout it and it made a difference. The influence is subtle, but it’s there, and I like the fact that there could be cross overs and team-ups in either series. Without spoiling anything, I will say that the shocking discoveries made a few books back has opened up the SWAT team’s world to a whole new realm of possibilities and threats. And potential mates. It will be interesting to see if any of the remaining SWAT members get paired up with an unusual mate.

All in all, I would say that Wolf Untamed keeps longtime fans interested while getting new fans excited for what’s to come. Can the book be read as a standalone? Sure. But this series deserves to be read from the beginning and in order for maximum enjoyment.

The SWAT series is no stranger to surprises, a few books back the team of highly trained alphas learned about The One and then found themselves the targets of an assassination attempt. SWAT member Zane Kendrick’s search for the ones responsible lead him from Dallas to Los Angeles where he meets FBI agent Alyssa Carson who may or may not be part of the group that is trying to eradicate all werewolves. Meanwhile Alyssa is trying to solve her latest case that involves missing girls and a body drained of all blood.

That Paige Tyler sure knows how to keep readers invested in her characters! Wolf Instinct packs quite the punch if you’ve been reading the series from the beginning. Which I highly suggest you do before picking this one up. All the wolves are hunky but Zane’s got a little something extra… He’s British! *insert sexy accent here*

FYI in my mind he sounds a bit like Clive Owen. *swoon*

Anywhoo, Wolf Instinct relies a lot on the plot for its pace and it works so well when it comes to the suspense and action. Just who is snatching young women off the streets and why? Is it connected to the attack on the SWAT compound? Those questions and more are answered even as more questions arise. It was quite the ride, however I do think that the romance took a bit of a blow with this book. Zane and Alyssa’s relationship is definitely of the “insta” variety and I had a difficult time buying into their declarations of love after only a handful of days in each other’s company. Even if Alyssa is The One for Zane, I would have liked their love story to rely less on that legend and more on them getting to know one another.

Romance aside though, Wolf Instinct had me firmly in its grasp and part of the reason is because Tyler really lets readers get to know her characters. Zane has been around since the beginning so he’s familiar but if you’re just jumping into the series, Zane is a great guy to start with, though I really do recommend reading the series in order. Paige Tyler doesn’t disappoint and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

A new gang of criminals gives the Dallas SWAT team a run for their money when it’s discovered they’re actually a pack of wolf shifters! The discovery comes right in the middle of a shootout with the criminals and while SWAT member Eric Becker is staring into the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. Too bad she’s with the bad guys or is she? Becker does the first thing that comes to mind and hides her from his team, allowing her to escape. Jayna Winston’s confusion over the SWAT member’s assistance doesn’t have long to set in before she’s back with her pack and the problems they’ve acquired since they became involved with mobsters. It isn’t long before Becker finds his mystery woman and gets mixed up in all sorts of trouble.

So not gonna lie, my eyes glaze over when I think of how many male wolf shifters there are on the Dallas SWAT team. Sixteen. Yup, sixteen sexy, raw, alpha wolf stud muffins. Let’s all let that sink in for a few moments…

Okay, moment over because it’s Eric Becker’s turn to find The One. That one mate destined for that one wolf and it seems like Jayna is it for him but there are a nest of obstacles for these two lovebirds, mainly that they seem to be on opposite sides of the law. But Becker is nothing if not tenacious.

He’s also completely different from his leader Gage Dixon and second in command, Xander Briggs. Becker is more laid back and dare I say gentler than Gage and Xander when it came to dealing with outsiders. He’s funny and when he was paired up with his best friend and fellow SWAT member Landry Cooper, too darn adorable. Becker was a thinker and a pretty patient guy when it comes to Jayna.

Jayna is a survivor, a scrappy little thing who has hidden strength and perseverance. While she wasn’t as tough or confident as Khaki (Who is my absolute favorite so far), Jayna has a few tricks up her sleeve and more than one secret in her life. I liked her loyalty to her small pack within the pack and her dedication to doing what was right. By the end of In the Company of Wolves she really found her strength and her voice.

In the Company of Wolves has a slower pace than its predecessors that was most notable when it came to Becker and Jayna’s relationship. It took awhile for it to go from a mutual attraction to an actual relationship with smooching and even longer before any clothes came off. It’s not a complaint just an observation, and it worked for these two because Jayna was skittish and had more pressing concerns than a big sexy alpha following her around.

Paige Tyler’s SWAT world was drastically expanded in this book to include more than just alpha males and I love that readers get to learn about these new developments along with the guys and gals of the SWAT team. It doesn’t make the world that Tyler created seem overwhelming with too much too soon. Little by little does wonders. Sixteen shape shifting stud muffins are overwhelming enough as it is, in a really good way.

What really made In the Company of Wolves feel like a fleshed out story were the supporting cast. They were more than just Becker’s team mates, though I really do adore Cooper who seems to always end up in the middle of his team mates’ love lives. Jayna comes with interesting pack members who ended up stealing my heart. My favorite though was Tuffie, the rescued pit bull mix from the previous book who only has a handful of scenes but manages to steal those scenes from whoever is there with her.

Becker and Jayna’s story is all their own but it still manages to feel like part of a larger plot so while it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading the series in order because each book has been ah-mazing so far and each of the sexy shifters is worth getting to know.

Paige Tyler, you are going on my “Favorites” list after this one! That Xander is one hunky, yummy piece of wolf shifter and now I want a Dallas SWAT team member of my own. Unfortunately since Xander is now taken, that just means I’ll have to check out the other single males of the team. No biggie, they’re all delicious.

As much as I want to go on and on about the stud muffin that is Xander Riggs, I want to talk about the epic girl power in Wolf Trouble who goes by the name Khaki. Yes, she’s as unique as her name and not only that, she’s got an attitude to match! Khaki was an exceptional character. She was just as good, even better than the guys and wasn’t shy about showing them up. I loved how she was up for the challenge of being trained as a SWAT team member. Author Paige Tyler didn’t make Khaki a lesser version of her male counterparts. She was always ready to work and definitely outshined the guys and they never took it as an insult. In fact, they were in awe of her and then extremely proud of how well she fit in. They treated her as an equal and that was one of the greatest part of Wolf Trouble. Khaki got to focus on her new place on a great team and her growing attraction to her squad leader rather than always trying to prove she could “hang with the guys.”

The biggest change so far, came from Xander himself. He was a bit of a hard ass in Hungry Like the Wolf, especially to Mackenzie, his leader’s mate, so it was nice to see that come back and bite him on the butt. He wasn’t as tough or mean as he came across in the first book though. As aloof and distant as he was towards Khaki, he still managed to be an excellent team leader. However, it was only after Khaki confronted him about his attitude towards her that he started to treat her like he did the rest of his team. Even with his cranky pants on Xander was still sexy, I could totally see why Khaki had a hard time focusing around him. The girl has excellent taste.

Just as tough and interesting as Khaki is, so is the storyline. Tyler kicked it up a notch from book one and added much more action and danger to the day to day life of the SWAT team. I loved feeling like I was going on a ride along with this extra special team. I saw what they saw, felt what they felt and got a better picture of how well the teams work together. Each member was an alpha in their own right but they could all fall in line under one leader which was Gage, the hero of Hungry Like the Wolf.

There was just the right balance between the team’s day to day routines and the more intimate, relationship building ones between Xander and Khaki. Both sides were vital to Wolf Trouble’s success and the author blended them together beautifully in my opinion. The story flowed easily from beginning to end and I had no trouble picking up right where the first book left off, so technically Wolf Trouble could be read as a standalone but I would recommend starting at the beginning even if it’s only to see the difference between Xander the secondary character, and Xander the lead character.

Another bonus about this series was the bonding moments that Khaki had with her fellow team mates. Like I said before, these guys didn’t care that she was female. All they knew was that she was damn good and was an excellent addition to their team. The moments of bonding between her and the team were some of my favorites with the number one scene being her first day at the training facility meeting her new team and the lengths they go to in order to make her feel welcome.

I could go on and on but really what would be the point? If you love a paranormal romance that’s light on the paranormal then I really suggest you check out this series by Paige Tyler. I’m already eager for the next book in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series.

Xander had to pick his jaw up off the floor of the training room when Gage introduced the newest member of the SWAT team. He didn’t know what to expect, but it sure as hell wasn’t Officer Khaki Blake. Tall with an athletic build and just enough curves to fill out the SWAT T-shirt, she had the biggest brown eyes and softest looking lips he’d ever seen. She had her dark hair back in a bun, so he couldn’t tell how long it was, but he’d bet money it fell past her shoulders. She smelled way too good to be believed, too—like a slice of frosted spice cake in a uniform.

Shit. He was practically panting. If he didn’t get a grip soon, he was going to start drooling.

He gave the other guys a covert glance to see how they were dealing with her scent and was stunned to see that none of them reacted at all. Why not? His nose wasn’t that much better than theirs. He knew for a fact that several of the other guys—Cooper Landry and Jayden Brooks specifically—could smell a hell of a lot better than he could.

Maybe everyone was so mesmerized by finally getting to see a female version of their kind that the rest of their senses had stopped working.

Gage had left it up to Xander to fill the guys in on what had gone down at the meeting with Deputy Chief Mason while he’d headed home to get ready for his trip to Washington State. While the guys had been pissed that the top brass was playing politics with the team, they’d been intrigued at the idea of adding a female werewolf to the Pack.

They’d bombarded him with dozens of questions, none of which he could answer. Was she as fast and strong as they were? Did her abilities manifest themselves in completely different ways? Would she be as aggressive as they were and able to handle herself in a fight? Were there more like her out there, or was she the only one?

Not all the questions were so general. Brooks wondered what she would look like, Max Lowry wanted to know if she would smell like them, and Eric Becker… Well, Becker just wanted to know if she liked to wear yoga pants. God, that kid had an obsession with those things.

Xander had told them what he knew—that no one except Gage knew a damn thing about female werewolves. And Xander wasn’t so sure how much their commander knew, either.

While Xander was lost in thought, Gage turned the floor over to Khaki, who was currently explaining how much she appreciated the opportunity to be in SWAT.

“I know I won’t be handed anything, but I look forward to proving to every one of you that I belong in the Pack and on the team.” She spoke in a light, lilting voice that surprisingly filled the large classroom. Xander could definitely pick up the Midwest accent, so she probably wasn’t originally from the Pacific Northwest. “I’m not asking for anything from you but a chance to do prove myself.”
