    1. Thanks for stopping by! I saw Hell or High Water, but that was the only one...the typical best pic movies aren't my type...where is Bucky Barnes? Thor? Deadpool?

  2. I haven't seen any of the movies in the major awards categories. The only ones I see anywhere on the list that I've seen are "Dr. Strange", "Star Wars: Rouge One", and "Zootopia". I typically only see a few movies a year at the theatre, and those typically are things like ones from Marvel, or major sci-fi/fantasy. I'll see all the Star Wars ones (although, I hated the "prequels" and after seeing the first and second, didn't see the third one at the theatre). I saw all the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings movies at the theatre, so you can see which ones I see on the big screen.

    1. I'm like you...The only movie from the best category I saw was Hell or High Water (on demand) and it was good...but a little boring. Usually the ones up for best movie aren't my type. I want superheros, things blowing up, fantasy and humor. I don't miss the Marvel movies either...I've been disappointed in the the Star Wars movies, but I still go see them...Rogue One was actually a good movie.

  3. I have only viewed Star Wars and Zootopia. The movies I've seen in the theater this year, don't make this list.

  4. Not seen any of these yet. I figure it will be La La Land. It got raves before it was even released and it's just the kind of picture they'd choose.

  5. I've only seen Rogue One, Suicide Squad, Florence Foster Jenkins and Star Trek Beyond, all on DVD. I don't think it's fair they should include movies that were just released to the public. While we don't vote, we'd probably enjoy it more if we'd had a chance to see the movies. Perhaps the awards ceremony should be pushed back to the end of April to give people a chance to see Nov. and Dec. releases.

Florence Foster Jenkins underwhelmed me. Everyone gave good performances (though Simon Helberg's character was presented a bit strangely) but they were hardly noteworthy. Suicide Squad was a snore and Star Trek was no better or more inventive than many episodes I'd seen on tv.

  6. I haven't seen any of the movies yet. I would like to see Hacksaw Ridge or Arrival, however, it will probably be LaLa Land, which I heard wasn't that great.

  7. I have seen "Kubo and the Two Strings," "Zootopia," and "Florence Foster Jenkins," and every one of them was good but a disappointment. If you want a better version of the Jenkins story, see the 2015 French film "Marquerite," which is much better, but tragic.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," you better be good!

I am not expecting to be disappointed by "Lion." I think it will be great!

I am expecting to be disappointed by "La La Land." I will probably rate it 4 out of 5 stars, but I will be unhappy with myself for doing so.

I would love to win an Oscar-worthy surprise!

  8. We have had such a all consuming family/home life this past year that the hubs and I have not seen one single movie on the list :( So many that we were interested in but just couldn't get out to see. I guess that is what DVD/Blu-ray is for huh?

  11. I have only seen Zootopia! I do like the song from Trolls!

  12. I've seen Zootopia and Jungle Book because they're on Netflix! Everything points to LA LA Land for best picture but I wouldn't county anybody out - some of the categories, like best actor, are very competitive.

  13. I have not seen any of the movies my guess is Fences

  14. I think even though LaLa Land is getting all the buzz that moonlight might snag best picture. But .. who knows. I saw Fences, and think viola davis was amazing and everything denzel does is wonderful. Blockbuster movies and Oscar nominated movies are always two completely different types of movies, aren't they?
