Linda Thomas-Sundstrom explains why VAMPIRES refuse to roll over and play dead in Europe + giveaway

VAMPIRES refuse to roll over and play dead in Europe…
By Linda Thomas-Sundstrom
Hello Sheepsters. Here’s the big question for today…

Where is the best place for a vampire bite?

Answer: London!

Bet you though I was going to answer that with the word “jugular,” right? Ha. Got ya!

Because I just came back from jolly old England, where an underground vampire sect known as the One Hundred owns more land than the queen, and their age-old vows not to interfere with mortals currently exists on the head of a pin. (a very small pin).

Take a walk down any side street outside of Knightsbridge after dark, and you might find more than you bargain for, unless stumbling into an immortal is your goal and you have open access to the British blood bank.

Good vamps? Bad vamps? Gorgeous immortals who love to tryst with those of us who possess heartbeats? They are all part of London’s history, and forever imbedded into the scene. Of course there are all types of these creatures, and just because some book publishers might be wary of seeing them right now doesn’t mean they are going away any time soon. Hello. Do we get the word Immortal? Or Forever? Do we continue to love meeting up with these guys, at least in print, without seeing that passion ease up? Well, yes, I do. Especially now.

And wow… London is the place to find them. I ran into an immortal there whose story I had to tell. Already having penned the stories of some of this fabulous immortal’s brethren once-upon-a-time, (Lance Van Baaren in Golden Vampire, Mason LanVal in Guardian of the Night), this time, I was stunned, thrilled, excited, to meet enigmatic Christopher St. John. He is another of the original seven Blood Knights from times long past, and I got to see him in action.

Tall, blond, sculpted, sigiled, and with a power he has to purposefully downgrade in order to appear as human and mortal to others, St. John just might be the best of the best of his kind. And London, his home since the Crusades, has more or less been under his protection – a daunting task, given population explosions, tourists, and the passing of time. But it’s an objective St. John has been willing to undertake to the best of his ability. Keep the streets clear of fledgling vampires. Keep humans safe from the slip of a poisoned fang. Protect the secret sect of the One Hundred from being discovered. You know… all that easy stuff.

Still, is that St. John’s real and only goal for hanging out in London all this time?

Nope.

There is so much more to his story.

Was I lucky to have an introduction, by way of American newscaster Madison Chase?

Whoa. Yeah. This was a day I will never forget. Ever.

And though danger might not be my middle name, and I do not relish losing my mortality any time soon, I did get to interview this gracious immortal, and on September 1, his story unfolded in my latest Nocturne release, “Immortal Obsession.” Some of us have an obsession with immortals, right? Are you one of us? I have got to tell you this: After meeting Christopher St. John, my life will never be the same.

Immortal Obsession
by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom
As her Protector, he was bound to oblige her every desire.

A rogue group of human-hating vampires have overtaken London. But the elite immortals who own much of the city may have found the key to protecting their territory: Madison Chase, an American newscaster investigating a story about missing teenagers. If she can convince someone to help her infiltrate the dangerous faction, she just might stem the bloodletting and find her brother in time….

St. John can't escape his dark family legacy. But the instincts that keep him from being fully human also make him the rogues' worst enemy. His desire for the ethereal redhead is immediate, all-consuming and forbidden. And as the investigation escalates, Madison must discover if St. John is her trusted Protector or if she's being seduced by a monster.

Giveaway
In honor of this wonderful journey with one of the Blood Knights, I’d like to share my passion with the immortal world with you. I’ll be giving away a copy of one of St. John’s brethren’s earlier stories to one lucky reader who loves immortals and comments on vampires in London. Perhaps telling us what you imagine that trip might be like as a tourist rounding a corner one misty night to find . . . Well . . . . a gorgeous immortal waiting for YOU. Or perhaps you have already found one?
I hope you’re willing to play, and also share your thoughts on vampires in the current publishing scene.

Here to chat today… and maybe even disclose a few more details about the immortals I’ve met who were really special. Truly special. And utterly unique.

*** And hey—an invitation!!!! We’re having a big “Immortal Obsession” party on Facebook TONIGHT – SEPTEMBER 3 -- 7-11 PM eastern, with tons of immortalish prizes. Come on over and pull up a fang. Check out my author page for instructions on how to join in.
