Movie Review: The Gray Man (2022) Netflix

The Gray Man (2022)
Release Date (Theaters): Jul 15, 2022
Release Date (Streaming): Jul 22, 2022
Director: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
Writer: Joe Russo, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely
Cast: Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page, Billy Bob Thornton
Runtime: 2h 9m
Distributor: Netflix
Rating: PG-13 (Strong Language|Strong Violence)
Genre: Action
When the CIA's top asset -- his identity known to no one -- uncovers agency secrets, he triggers a global hunt by assassins set loose by his ex-colleague.

The Gray Man, based on the book
by Mark Greaney, is action-packed from start to finish in typical Russo fashion. Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling were just the frostings on the exploding cake.

The storyline is full of action movie clichés and predictable but it's still a lot of fun! Chris Evans' character isn't deep... just an over-the-top bad-guy psychopath. But they don't try to make him a serious character evidenced by the porn-stache.

My husband and I were entertained and glad we watched. There are 12 Gray Man books so this could be the start of a franchise. I'm there for it like Bourne and Jack Reacher.

If you enjoy blow'em-up movies with outrageous car chases then you want to see this one.

My husband and I give it 4 "Gray" Sheep

Sheep Movie Review: Extraction (2020)

Extraction
April 24, 2020
Directed By: Sam Hargrave
Written By: Joe Russo
Runtime: 116 minutes
Cast: Chris Hemsworth, David Harbour, Nico Pimparé Gaetan, Randeep Hooda
Rating: R (for strong bloody violence throughout, language and brief drug use)
Genre: Action & Adventure, Drama, Mystery & Suspense
Netflix
Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is a fearless black market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of Rake and the boy.

My husband and I watched Extraction. We like big action movies and this one is action pretty much from start to finish. Like over the top no one could ever survive that action.
The violence is on par with a John Wick movie with a lot of realistic fighting sequences. This is straight drama though. No funny one-liners.

Did I want to watch this because Chris Hemsworth was in it? Yeah! He isn't there for eye-candy in Extraction. But he did take his shirt off...

The movie was big box-office quality and the Russo brothers were behind the project...which is probably why Hemsworth is involved. And there have been talks of another Tyler Rake movie!

Definitely worth watching if you are into this type of movie.

That gif is pretty much sums it up how everyone felt at the end of the movie.

The movie is one big epic fight all over the universe. I was worried about how they were going to fit all those superheroes into one movie. But they did with some hilarious results. As you can guess Tony Stark and Dr. Strange didn't exactly hit it off at first. Throw in a little Star Lord attitude and you have a snark party.

Thor is pretty awesome in this one...Captain America too. Thanos was a better villain than I thought he would be. And we are left with the question...will Rocket get Bucky's arm?

Edit: Just talked to my husband...he only gives it 3 1/2 Sheep. He thought there wasn't much story...just Thanos running around collecting jewelry. He prefers Justice League. I'm filing divorce papers today! (just kidding...)

4.5 "Next time go for the head" Sheep
(It loses half a sheep because... (possible spoiler [highlight to see] no one was smart enough to cut off his damn hand!)
