My husband and I watched Extraction. We like big action movies and this one is action pretty much from start to finish. Like over the top no one could ever survive that action. The violence is on par with a John Wick movie with a lot of realistic fighting sequences. This is straight drama though. No funny one-liners.

Did I want to watch this because Chris Hemsworth was in it? Yeah! He isn't there for eye-candy in Extraction. But he did take his shirt off...

The movie was big box-office quality and the Russo brothers were behind the project...which is probably why Hemsworth is involved. And there have been talks of another Tyler Rake movie!

Definitely worth watching if you are into this type of movie.

*Whine* I liked Men in Black: International, but I really wanted to love it. I think the problem is I compare it to the Will Smith/Tommy Lee Jones version which was better. Jones was the perfect straight man to Smith's comedy. That was missing from the Hemsworth/Thompson pairing. They didn't have the right chemistry. And Pawny seemed like a gimmick for the kids.

And it moved a little slow compared to the original...

I don't know if I can give this a fair review because I can't stop comparing it to the original. So if you haven't seen the previous movies then it might work for you. If you have...Chris Hemsworth is a beautiful man and a joy to watch no matter what the movie is like.

Went to see Thor: Ragnarok with my 16-year-old daughter and we both had a blast! The movie was a mix of action, laugh out loud moments, and thunder and lightning.

Marvel delivers again. It's hard not to get hyped when The Immigrant song plays during the opening and final battle scenes. And you never knew if "bad" Loki or "good" Loki was going show up or if they would make it through the Devil's Anus. Yeah, you read that right.

Wait till you meet Korg! He steals the show, along with Thor's arms and abs. Warning, you get to see Hulk's naked butt. It's green by the way.

I do want to know what the heck happened to Karl Urban?

This is a big screen movie so see it at the theater if you can. Be sure to stay for the two extra credit scenes. And there was a Pacific Rim 2 trailer at the beginning! Coming 2018.

Went to see this with husband and 15 year old daughter. Holly loved it...especially Kate McKinnon's character (the blonde). My husband loved it too. I liked it. Each individual character was great, but there was something missing with the chemistry of all of them on the screen. Very predictable, but with some really funny moments. And who doesn't like looking at Chris Hemsworth.

There were plenty of nods to the original, including cameos from the original cast, but it still was its own story. The intro scene was creepy as all get out and will give you a jump scare. Be sure to stay till the end of the credits, there is a quick scene about what the sequel might be about! Also as the ending credits roll you get quite a treat from Hemsworth.

Went to see Thor Chris Hemsworth The Huntsman with my husband and 15 year old daughter. It was an entertaining movie with things that were done right and things that were not done right, and that is going to hurt my heart to say but I'll get to that later.

What I loved. Anytime Freya (Emily Blunt) and Ravenna (Charlize Theron) were on the screen I was captivated. I loved the way they played their characters and their story. The costumes and hair styles were beautiful. I have a girl crush on Charlize...

What I didn't like was *sob* Chris Hemsworth's character. I know, right?! He looked great, don't get me wrong, but his character was kind of a derp. The whole tone of the movie should have been much darker and The Huntsman along with his merry band of dwarves were used for some comic relief, but it fell flat for me. And watching The Huntsman climb up an enormous shear cliff, in the snow, up to the ICE castle, bare handed, and he didn't break a sweat...you're gonna have to give him the red cape and hammer to get me to believe that!

My husband and daughter gave it a hesitant 4, but I'm gonna go with a 3.5 and that half is because...girl crush! This is one you can wait for the DVD. But if you can catch it at a discount at the theater, it's always nice to see special effects on a big screen.

Rusty Griswold takes his own family on a road trip to "Walley World" in order to spice things up with his wife and reconnect with his sons.

This is pretty much what you think it is. While I felt some of the jokes were a little forced, overall it is a laugh out loud movie experience. My 14 year old daughter was in tears and wants to buy it as soon as it comes out on DVD.

It was cool seeing all the nods to the old movie and Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo make a cameo. It was kind of painful watching Chevy...he has not aged well! There is a surprise cameo from everyone's favorite Walking Dead actor.

And then there is Chris Hemsworth...sigh...he was looking real good, especially his "abs." This was one of the funniest scenes in the movie and unfortunately girls...it's a fake.

Is it worth the theater price? Depends on what you are looking for in a movie experience. Going with a bunch of friends or high school kids, yeah. But you won't be missing out if you wait for the DVD...

Once again, Marvel Studios hits us with a purely entertaining movie. Packed with action, humor, adventure, Stan Lee's cameo and some kick-butt scenes. This one is a popcorn flick for the ages and I loved it!

There's going to be the reviewers out there who pick this one apart. Pfft! I'm sorry, are we going into Thor to see some life changing events? Matters of humanity and earth shattering moments? Or, are we going into this one looking for some fun? I'm looking for fun!

On many levels, The Dark World brings the hammer punch. Chris once again takes on the role of Asgardian sex god. He's smokin hot. Hands down. It certainly helps that the man can act and by Valhalla does he have fun doing it! Pair that man next to Tom, as the evil (but likable) Loki, and you've got yourself some man candy goodness that's both tasty and cavity inducing.  Girls, we should all LOVE these men. They are awesome in the comics and amazing on the big screen!

Fear not fellow men, you get your share of the action and epic CGI effects. Everything that can be blown up, is. Again and again. Plus you have the very sexy Portman to turn things up a notch. Sexy never looked so good on a scientist!

I found myself laughing in this film more then any of the previous Marvel flicks. Time was taken to make the audience laugh and join right in on the adventure. Sure, there's plot holes. Sure, none of the science makes sense. But really, who cares! It's all covered up with the fluff, but done in the best possible way.

Overall, I loved it. Thor can take off his shirt for the whole movie, Loki too. And Heimdall. And Fandral. But I digress. This film is exactly what would you would expect to pay for. Plus some extra laughs for the road.

Make sure to stay past the final credits to get that sneak peak of what's to come!

Sheep Movie Review: Snow White and the Huntsman

Snow White and the Huntsman Not So 'Epic' After all

In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White's beauty and power. -- (C) Universal Pictures

Last week was the release of the much anticipated Snow White and the Huntsman, a "darker" re-telling of the classic Brother's Grimm fairytale. It joins the likes of a long list of other bed time stories gone scary including Red Riding Hood (2011) and the soon-to-be released Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013). While Snow White isn't scary per say, the trailers do make it seem like it's going to be some epic medieval fantasy where the fair princess suits up a la Joan of Arc and leads an army to battle the evil queen.

The previews are terribly misleading. The movie isn't quite as "epic" as trailer-makers would like you to believe. But that doesn't mean the movie was terrible.

Snow White and the Huntsman starts off just like every countless re-telling of the story—a noble queen gives birth to a daughter whose hair is black as night and skin as white as snow. After his beloved wife dies giving birth, the King decides it's best to remarry so that his daughter has a mother figure in her life. In walks the wicked sorceress (Charlize Theron). Once the witch realizes Snow White (Kristin Stewart) is the key to her demise, the evil queen sends the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) to kill her. The flick even has all of the same elements: a handsome prince, seven dwarves and poison apple. Only in this movie, there is some back drop on the wicked queen's upbringing, how she seduced the king, and why she got to surpass Snow White as heir to the thrown which is really interesting since none of the stories ever addressed these questions as far to my knowledge. And of course, the Huntsman in this film doesn’t just release Snow White, but becomes her mentor and "possible" love interest.

But the film falls a little flat. Visually the movie is beautiful. Great CGI and the costumes, designed by Colleen Atwood, are exquisite. But aside from the breath taking scenes, the movie wasn't at all what I expected. Kristin Stewart spent most of the movie doe-eyed while madly running through an enchanted forest, the Huntsman really just seemed like Thor with a slight Irish accent (although his few fight scenes were fun to watch) and the "romance" triangle between Snow White, the Huntsman, and the Prince seemed really forced—she honestly didn't seem to love any of the them.

The best of the film was Theron, although some might get annoyed that she "screams" most of the time. But there is no epic war! Not in this installment anyway. The ending is left open partly because movie makers hope to create a trilogy franchise, very similar to Twilight and The Hunger Games series. In a nutshell, Twi-hard teenagers and college co-eds might take think this flick is spectacular, but I would have to disagree.

Sheep Movie Review: The Avengers directed by Joss Whedon

Marvel's The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon, stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson. This Marvel fan is over the frellin moon right now! If you're a die-hard fan or just stepping into this amazing world of Heroes and Villains now's the time to jump in and hang on for one heck of a fantastic ride!

Plot:

Marvel Studios presents Marvel's The Avengers-the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Marvel Studios spent last summer gearing up for this year's mega box-office hit. With X-Men: First Class, Thor, and Captain America audiences got a chance to embrace the wonders the comic-book world has had to offer for many years now. (It's ok latecomers we forgive you!) I stand tall and proud to be a comic nerd, and as one I am an even tougher critic on the film translations. I am throughly and truly pleased with The Avengers film edition.

To give credit where credit is due you cannot go without mentioning Joss Whedon. Joss had a clear sense of direction on where he wanted this story to go, the humor that needed to be a part of it, touching moments thrown in, and the absolutely breath-taking action sequences. CGI effects never looked better, plus the sound effects and sound mixing only add to the experience. The actors also came ready to work for this one so a big round of applause for developing characters who were necessary to bring the whole story together, and can I just say that Robert Downey is an outstanding actor and sells Iron Man like it's his second skin. The best part about the movie as a whole is that you can tell everyone had a blast making this and the character interactions were some of the most richly colored scenes that you really can't tell where your seat ends and the screen begins.

This movie surely won't win an any awards come Oscar time but by no means does that mean the movie isn't a great film. You don't have to create a dramatic eighteenth century masterpiece to touch audiences, you just have to give the folks something they can cheer for. The ultimate underdogs up against insane odds, forced to ban together to take out the evil psychos that want to destroy and enslave our planet. It's far fetched and over-the-top but who cares when it's this dang good!?

Comic fans will love the bits thrown in for the folks that have followed these guys and gals for a while. The Hulk's gonna smash some stuff, Captain America is going to throw his shield, Thor will swing that hammer baby! and Black Widow is going to be super sexy in her tight cat suit. It's all there for the taking so if you're looking for an amazing movie experience that's pure fun go out and see this beast. It'll rock your socks off!

This is a very complicated movie to explain…it isn’t the actual movie that is what is great about this film, it's about the intentions behind its creation. You will walk out of the theater thinking that was entertaining as hell, but what is all the buzz about? Then you'll go home and read all those reviews, spoilers, and Easter egg posts you avoided so you wouldn’t spoil it and you will think, “Damn! How freaking clever!” Then lots of people are going to go see it again so they can catch all the things they missed or they are going to buy the DVD. Whedon has basically said, “I am going to make a cult film.” And he has succeeded. Did you know there is already a companion book out for this movie? Who does that only a week after a movie is out?

The movie its self is a mix of 80’s slasher horror and Sci-fi. I was worried I would have to close my eyes, but all the gross stuff happens off camera for the most part so don’t let that keep you from going. And unlike the stereotype teens you get in slasher films, you are going to like these characters. They are smart, decent people who try to make the right choices, which feeds into the irony when they are forced into the stereotype. The horror clichés are so thick you can cut them with a knife (see the funny I made?), but that is the point after all. You will recognize some of the cast from other Whedon productions and Chris Hemsworth proves he has always been Thoralicious <G>.

This is a new type of movie going experience because it continues long after the movie is over, providing fertile ground for those of us who love to dissect things and discuss like most Whedon fans do. I think everyone who sees this will be entertained, but you have to enjoy the dark humor of Buffy, Firefly and other Whedon creations to love the movie. Which makes this complicated to rate. I would say for Whedon fans (like me) this is a 5 sheeper, for non-fans 3.5 and for cool ass monster movie loving fans 4 Sheep.

Thor, I need a horse!

Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh and staring Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston, is so visually breathtaking you don't need the 3D glasses. Save your money and catch the regular showing, especially if you're on a budget. Thor and Marvel deliver an action packed movie with a dramatic storyline that has an extremely Shakespearean feel.

Plot:

Exiled to Earth after his arrogance fans the flames of an ancient conflict, The Mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) of Asgard discovers the meaning of humility when a powerful old foe dispatches a destructive force to crush humanity. Only when the banished prince has defeated an opponent capable of crushing him in battle will he learn what it takes to be a true leader.

I'm a Marvel gal through and through, to the point where I bleed Marvel. Ok maybe not that extreme, but if I could I definitely would. That being said Marvel did NOT disappoint me in bringing the mighty Norse gods to life in Thor. The mythic cites of Asgard were mixed in with a well written script and overall beautiful acting which left me immensely pleased with this film. But really how can you go wrong with having a home run king like Hopkins? You can't! The secondary characters were extremely exciting to watch as well, and everyone carried their weight in this film. Truly there were no small parts, only small actors.

Our protagonist is a complex super hero with a LOT of growing up to do. Thor finds himself cast away to Earth where the humorous dialog kicks in. Quite a few funny lines take place between characters that will have you laughing out loud. You can also expect to see some previous faces from Iron Man as we gear up for The Avengers (fangirl squeal) coming up next year. A few shoddy editing choices in parts of the film made it a tad frustrating here and there, but nothing was outrageously wrong.

I do have a tiny bone to pick with Jane's character and her depiction in the film. Without geeking out too much I would like to point out a few things that were amiss about her character. The comic tells us this about Jane:

"Jane Nelson, shortly known by her more common name of Jane Foster, was a nurse for Dr. Donald Blake, eventually developing feelings for him, not knowing that Blake and Thor were one and the same. The love triangle went on for a while, until Thor revealed his secret identity to Jane, and in return even took her to Asgard with him"

Things continue quite a bit from there but I wanted to point out you won't be seeing her love triangle develop as much in the film. I get that it's very hard to condense a whole series into a 2 hour movie, but I had hoped Jane's character could have been fleshed out a little better. Portman did a great job acting the part, but the whole character of Jane was off. Again, this me nitpicking at the movie only because I love Marvel and this story so much. Moving on from the fangirl technicalities, everyone should definitely go out and see this film because it will entertain you nonstop. Hemsworth is finger-lickin'-good on screen. A few more shirtless scenes for ladies would have been nice but to be fair Portman didn't take her top off once so..... There are plenty of cameos you won't want to miss and a hidden extra scene that shows after the credits roll.

X-Men First Class is coming up next followed by Captain America, it's a summer of fun for Marvel fans!
