The Black Dagger Brotherhood continues to train the best of the best to join them in the deadly battle against the Lessening Society. Among the new recruits, Axe proves to be a cunning and vicious fighter—and also a loner isolated because of personal tragedy. When an aristocratic female needs a bodyguard, Axe takes the job, though he’s unprepared for the animal attraction that flares between him and the one he is sworn to protect.

For Elise, who lost her first cousin to a grisly murder, Axe’s dangerous appeal is enticing—and possibly a distraction from her grief. But as they delve deeper into her cousin’s death, and their physical connection grows into so much more, Axe fears that the secrets he keeps and his tortured conscience will tear them apart.

Rhage, the Brother with the biggest heart, knows all about self-punishing, and he wants to help Axe reach his full potential. But when an unexpected arrival threatens Rhage and Mary’s new family, he finds himself back in the trenches again, fighting against a destiny that will destroy all he holds most dear.

As Axe’s past becomes known, and fate seems to be turning against Rhage, both males must reach deep—and pray that love, rather than anger, will be their lantern in the darkness.

Blood Vow is the second book in the Black Dagger Legacy, which is a spinoff of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Never fear though the Brothers are still very much a part of this great series. The comraderie and humor among the Brothers is excellent and leaves you smiling and laughing throughout.

The first time Axe saw Elise his world was tipped upside down. He doesn’t form attachments and definitely doesn’t do vanilla or rich for that matter. When Axe is tapped to interview for a bodyguard position he is shocked to find out it is for the Elise. The moment he realizes it is her he is determined the job will be his. Elise is thrilled when her father decides to allow her to continue at the university but only if she has a body guard. She is surprised when it turns out the bodyguard will be Axe. Their connection was instant, but the two of them are just so different. Even though it was obvious where this story line was heading it didn’t diminish the story or how much I love series.

Rhage and Mary are continuing with adoption process for Bitty. There are so many things that could happen and ruin their little family. Rhage would do anything to protect his females but sometimes even the beast can’t control fate.

JR Ward is one of my favorite authors and this was a great read. There were some aspects of the story that were obvious and you knew where it was going but with that being said there were some really surprising twists as well. The sex scenes are always hot and oh so delicious!

Her idea of absolute heaven is a day filled with nothing but her computer, her dog and her coffee pot and the Brothers, of course.

  1. I have very few "must-buy" authors, but JR Ward is one of them. I was unsure about the new Legacy spin-off to the BDB but Book 1, Blood Kiss, totally won me over. Can't wait to read Blood Vow!
