Well, I just found a new author and series to follow. The Mutt is a short story prequel to The Order series. A gay romance fantasy with elves. I am a well-known lover of fae stories. I love their cold calculating ways and the political games they play. The Mutt is told from the POV of Dark Elf, Ervyn an alpha male with something to prove. He pushes every one of my fae-loving buttons. The object of his obsession, Lochan, is emotionally closed off for reasons that are hinted at.
Kasia Bacon's writing submersed me into the universe she has created and into Ervyn's head right from the start. And I liked it there... the ready-to-pitch-a-tent-and-move-in liked it there. Lochan's response to Ervyn's sensual seduction was a surprise for me and maybe as well for Lochan, setting up one of my favorite romance relationship dynamics. There isn't any explicit sex in The Mutt, just an incredibly hot kiss and some touching.
This is just a taste of Ervyn and Lochan and the fantasy world Bacon has created with writing that promises to bring me along for the ride... *pun intended*
