Windy City Dragon is the stellar second installment in Genevieve Jack’s captivating new series, Treasure of Paragon. Book two takes us to Chicago and the unravelling of Tobias’s story. We were first introduced to Tobias in The Dragon of New Orleans as a second brother of the Paragonian royal family. The dragon-shifter siblings are scattered across the globe, divorced from their home realm seemingly for their own safety. Tobias has been living his immortal existence as a pediatric surgeon. He’s learned to blend with humans in a safe, orderly, solitary existence. Tobias’s predictable life is upended with a kiss. Nurse Sabrina’s secret identity as a vampire heiress is immediately detected by the dragon doctor. While he’s able to withstand her glamour, Tobias cannot resist her charm. To further complicate matters, Tobias’s brother Gabriel and his witch mate Raven darken his door with ominous news of a sinister plot based in Paragon.
I adored this book as much as the first installment. The plot is rich, the characters magnetic. The looming complications of both vampire politics and the dragons’ duplicitous mother make this story riveting. Both books give the reader some satisfaction and closure, however, the larger plot of the dragon siblings and their estrangement will keep the series fresh for future installments. Books three, Manhattan Dragon, is expected this year.
Full disclosure, I am a huge Genevieve Jack fan. Other must-read series by Jack include Knight Games and Fireborn Wolves. Treasure of Paragon has the momentum to be another fan fave.
