In Blumhouse's new spin on Fantasy Island, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort. But when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island's mystery in order to escape with their lives.
My husband and I (both old enough to remember the TV series) watched Fantasy Island. I was hesitant to watch this. I loved watching the TV show as a pre-teen (it came on after Love Boat) but I didn't think it would be interesting unless...you add a supernatural horror element! And we wouldn't have to pay theater prices.
We liked it! The plot took a lot of fun twists. Cheesy? Yeah, but they acknowledge it. It's even categorized as a comedy/fantasy. The very last scene is a shout out to those who remember the TV series. High five to the creators for that one :)
If you want a fun PG-13 suspense (don't try to poke holes in the plot cause it is paper-thin) then give this one a try.
We give this 3.75 "Fantasy" Sheep

We saw this in the theaters right before they closed. I had reservations since it was getting terrible reviews, but I enjoyed it too. The acting was pretty good for a Blumhouse film.
