Interview with the ghosts from The Reaper Collection by Jade Royal +excerpt

Savannah, coming to you from The Royalty Report will be interviewing four women who came together to tell their stories in one book. The theme is revenge and they tell us just how far they are willing to go in a collection of stories. Please welcome Janet, Remington, Prez, and Patrice.

Savannah: Welcome, ladies. It’s so good to meet the women behind The Reaper. Tell us how Jade Royal found you.
Janet: We found her. We approached her individually, looking for a place to tell our stories. I heard she likes to frequent Starbucks so I approached her in the drive-thru.
Patrice: Don’t you think that approach is a stretch, Janet? You jumped in her car and wouldn’t get out until she listened. Remember, you have to tell the truth.
Janet: Right, because none of us want you for the truth police.
Patrice: *smiles sinisterly*

Savannah: And you Remington?
Remi: *Cringe* Remi. Call me Remi.
Savannah: Sorry. Remi.
Remi: She was at a house with a few of her friends. It was known as the haunted house of the area. People came there all the time to tour it. A lot of spirits hung out there to get their sick fixes and scare them off. I was in a mood that day. It was the anniversary of my death and all. So when I heard her creeping down the hall coming back from the bathroom, I decided to have a little fun. It wasn’t like she could see me. Or so I thought.
Savannah: But she could?
Janet: Are you listening, lady?
Remi: Yeah, she could. And she could hear me. When I got near her, I felt this weird connection. And when I touched her and she didn’t die…
Savannah: Wait… die?
Remi: Die. Want me to show you?
Savannah: That’ll be a no from me.
Janet: Scared?

Patrice: Do you have any candy?
Savannah: No, that stuff will rot your teeth.
Patrice: I can remove them for you.

Savannah: Remi?
Remi: You can ask Jade, it’s just a little frosty touch.

Savannah: Doesn’t she like the cold?
Remi: Yup. I didn’t let her die though. I kept her alive.
Janet: I can set a fire.
Patrice: Do you remember what happened the last time you did that?
Janet: That was different.
Prez: Ladies, I think that we’re off topic here. Remember The Code.
Remi: Jade helped me by letting me feed off her soul. She saw my story herself and told the story as she saw it. I didn’t have to say a thing.

Savannah: Do you still haunt people?

Remi: Sometimes. I try to stay away from them though. The bond that was shared between Jade and I, I can’t find that anywhere else.
Patrice: Savannah, do you believe in the Tooth Fairy?
Savannah: I used to.
Patrice: So your mommy and daddy lied to you too? I helped to cure my parents and Jade wanted to know the truth. If she was any other writer, I don’t know if I would’ve told her a thing. I could be honest with her.
Prez: She has a code. That’s what I like about her. She tells the story how it is. She kept my identity safe.

Savannah: You have a son, right? A wife and daughter too?
Prez: I don’t want to talk about my family. This interview is about me.
Savannah: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you. What do you do for a living?
Prez: I’m between jobs.
Savannah: Then how are you supporting your family?
Prez: *silence*
Janet: Can’t you see she’s heartbroken? Stop asking ‘bout her family. Next question, or we’re all out of here.

Savannah: What's your favorite food?
Janet: Right now? Pickles and ice cream.
Remi: My mother’s chicken stew and homemade cornbread. I can smell it now.
Patrice: Candy.
Prez: Gumbo.

Savannah: Any piercings, tattoos, scars or birthmarks /moles?
Prez: What are you, the Feds? Next question.

Savannah: What are your full names?
Remi: Just call me Remi.
Prez: This interview is over. You didn’t explain our rights or anything. The next time that you interview somebody, you need to decide what the code is going to be. Cause this… (Stands up and looks around the conference room that they’re sitting in before exiting.)
Janet: Is there any evidence left? I’ve got a lighter. I can make it all go boom.
Patrice: The lies people tell…
Remi: *vanishes from the room*

Savannah: (nervously) Well, thank you ladies for coming. It was a pleasure to have you.
Janet: No, Patrice don’t! She didn’t mean to...

Patrice rushes to the chair that Savannah is sitting in and begins duct taping her to the chair. Christmas music begins to play before all of the doors are locked and the sound of dental drill begins to hum.

Excerpt
“Thirty,” Remi blurted.

“Thirty what? It’s going to take more than a measly thirty bucks to get you out of this, Remington.”

“Thirty seconds,” Remi pushed anxiously. She needed more time.

“Fourteen. No more. No less.”

Remi mumbled to herself. Maybe this was just a sick joke that would reveal itself after the fourteen seconds were up.

“Ready, little rabbit?” Zachary’s voice was low and threatening. Danger.
