I gave Thunder Force 3 ½ Sheep.
With superhero movies and TV series popular at this time, I wondered if we needed another film with superheroes. Instead of young, nubile men and women, we have two older women with normal body types becoming superheroes to fight the evil Miscreants. Something we've needed for a while in comic book writing and in superhero movies.

Emily's (Octavia Spencer) parents were killed by Miscreants, and she vowed to learn all she can to grow up and finished their work on stopping the bad guys. She was sent to live with her grandmother. She meets Lydia (
Melissa McCarthy) at her new school and they become best friends. Lydia's nature to mess things up causing them to split up.

Years later, Lydia hasn't done much with her life. Emily is now a scientist and has made serums to make a superhero with strength and invisibility. By accident, after told not to touch things, Lydia gets injected with the strength serum. Emily then takes the invisibility serum. They fight The King, head of a team of Miscreants, and regular villains.

Now about the film. This is not Marvel or DC, so if you want better writing and more, check those films out. It is not great writing. Emily was really not written well, and even Octavia’s acting couldn't help the character. As for Lydia, you'd think as an adult she would try to be better. When told not to touch things, she acts like a child and does just that. Still, even with the faults, there are some good moments. Maybe if there is a sequel, the writer will take out the few jokes not needed and take a page out of Ghostbusters in mixing comedy and action.

3 "cooked from the inside out" Sheep
I had high hopes for Thunder Force because I like Melissa McCarthy movies, but this one missed the mark. Mainly because of the reasons Pamela pointed out. The writing was horrible. And there was no chemistry between McCarthy and Spencer. There are some funny scenes but overall it was meh.

I wouldn't say NOT watch it, but don't have high expectations and maybe it will be more enjoyable.
