Author Guest Post: Jordan K. Rose + Giveaway!

Thank you Katie and the gang of I Smell Sheep for hosting this stop on The Demon Mistress blog tour. I (and Eva) am thrilled to be here. As Eva has taken over the blog tour herself she’s decided to discuss a topic that’s gotten her into quite a bit of trouble over the years.

Snooping

Have you ever snooped before? You know, just peeked at something that wasn’t yours and maybe wasn’t something you were supposed to see. Something secret.

You have. You know it. I know it. And the person whose stuff it was knows it, too. Don’t bother trying to pretend you didn’t do it because you did. Don’t add lying to snooping. You’ve already got enough to explain.

Now don’t get miffed. I’ve been in your boat. The best thing to do in these situations is admit what you’ve done and explain why you did it. Then, just hope for the best. Of course, if your explanation is a good one it helps. If it’s a lame-o excuse, you’re probably screwed.

I try not to snoop. I’m good at trying. I’m not good at succeeding. And maybe I’m not good at succeeding because I’m not actually all that good at trying.

I do try. I give it the best effort I can at that moment. Sometimes I even tell myself out loud, “Do not peek.” But that doesn’t necessarily work. We can all agree the desire to know what’s going on often outweighs the appropriate behavior of not snooping.

Sometimes these things happen.

For example, let’s say you are in your husband’s personal library and you stumble (really, it was less stumbling and more digging, but he doesn’t need to know that little detail) upon something interesting, like a really old, dusty book. What would you do? You’d open it. Why not? Of course you would. You’ve seen enough movies to know that’s exactly what you’d do.

Then, you’d read some of it. Well, you’d try to read it but you wouldn’t understand the words all that well because maybe they were written in some sort of demon babble. But, you’d do your best.

The result of your “reading” would not be pleasant.

Your reading would have set loose the demons. That’s the best way to put it. Who knew demons could be trapped in a book? Forty demons. Trapped in Ta Biblia Daimon, The Demon Book.

Who knew?

Stefan.

Secrets.

When you keep secrets from your spouse eventually the truth comes out and sometimes it’s not very pretty.

So, ultimately this whole incident has nothing to do with me snooping but is entirely based on Stefan keeping secrets from me.

And this is why it’s important not to keep secrets in your marriage. Secrets lead to demons. Wouldn’t you agree? I know I’m not the only one who’s found out something that maybe she wasn’t supposed to know by investigating situations that weren’t really her concern at the time.

Let’s hear it. Tell me about a time when you did a little snooping of your own. We’re friends. You can tell me.

Today’s US prize on the blog hop is another combo of three romance novels from Jordan’s bookshelf. I’m feeling like a little romance will help set everything straight since. You know, put the snooping and secrets issues back into perspective. A couple Vampire’s Kiss Truffles from the www.cocoashak.com will help with that, too. What’s more romantic than romance novels and chocolate? Nothing really. You could read a book together. For international winners the prize will be a $10 Spoonfudge gift certificate. Get some fudge. Grab a romance novel. Now you’re good to go. Leave a comment. Maybe win a prize.

Blurb:
What’s a girl to do when she discovers her husband, who happens to be the Master Vampire for the New England Region, has been lying to her for, oh, say a hundred and eighty years?

Well, it all depends. If she’s accidentally released forty demons from some creepy old book, unintentionally announced the existence of vampires on The Internet, kidnapped a werewolf, enraged a lovesick vampire by stealing his approved mate, and attracted the attention of The High Commander for The Vampire Federation, not to mention gotten stoned and mastered the forbidden art of demon calling, she might be willing to call it even.

Or, she might plead her case at an Inquisition and hope like all hell, she isn’t staked before sunrise. Eh, a slightly busier night than usual, but nothing Eva Prim can’t handle.

Author Bio:
Jordan loves vampires. But if you know anything about Jordan, you already knew that detail. What you didn’t know was it wasn’t long ago that she began writing about them.

A few years back Jordan received a copy of Twilight from her husband as part of her anniversary gift. By the end of that week she’d read the entire series and moved onto Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. Eight weeks and eighteen vampire books later the idea for her first book, Perpetual Light came to her followed very quickly by Eva Prim.

In October of 2013 The Demon Mistress, the first Eva Prim Novel is available along with four short stories. For continual updates on Eva please join the Snack Of The Week Club at www.evaprim.com.

Coming November 2013 Black Magic Rose, Book One of The Alliance Series. Join Jordan’s newsletter for updates.

Jordan is a member of the national Romance Writers of America organization and several chapters.

When she’s not writing about one vampire or another Jordan enjoys spending time with her husband, Ken and their lovable Labrador, Dino on the beautiful beaches of New England.
