As nuclear strikes cripple the East Coast Lana is whisked away to a federal bunker to help coordinate the efforts of defense and preserve the countries resources. In the course of her duties she has been given a guardian, Brady, to keeps in contact via radio transmission, who helps keep her grounded and fills the emotional need for contact she can trust. Lana learns a terrible secret and strikes out on her own to reach a safe place constantly hunted. There is plenty of adrenalin pumping action, surprises, betrayals, and a little taste of smexy thrown in for good measure. This was a fun read, although I will admit that the beginning of the book seemed a bit abrupt with Lana thrown right into the fire and I would have liked a little more buildup and world building, but I will say that by the end of the tale I was hooked and came away feeling very satisfied. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a lot of action with a dystopian flare of the possibility of what if and a little romance thrown in the mix. I purchased this book from Amazon.

If you are into fast paced blow s**t up action movies, this movie is for you! If you are into smexy military men and women, this movie is also for you! G.I. Joe:Retaliation has it all: a great balance of action, humor, touchy feely, and special effects. The only complaint I have is during some of the action scenes the camera shots were switching so fast I couldn’t keep up with what was going on and it could possibly send you into a seizure if you aren't careful.

I wanted to pull for the bad guys just as much as the good because everyone was bad ass in the good way. I haven’t read any of the G.I. Joe comics, but since it's a reboot of the franchise there are some twists I don’t want to giveaway for longtime fans. I thought Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum’s comedic chemistry was a little forced, but the rest of the cast worked together well.
I thought the special effects were done well and if they weren't I didn't notice because I was caught up in the action and story, so who cares! Is this just like Transformers with live people instead of robots? Hell yeah! This is one I will want to own.
And sorry about that London, but someone had to be an example…

Katie's Point of View
Pretty much everything Sharon just touched on was dead-on. Action was killer good, even the super slow-mo parts, and if the shaky camera had slowed down a bit I would have enjoyed these moments more. Ninjas are always amazing and if your name is Snake Eyes, then baby, get ready for some Katie lovein! Man is a dream boat setting sails for the sea of love and always has been. Some cheesy dialog moments all around, but those were to be expected. A few major plot inconsistencies left me frustrated, adding a few extra minutes of scenes here and there would have put this one over the top. Overall, if you love action for the sake of action and cool gadgets then this one is for you. Yo, Joe!
Getting 4 'I only have eyes for Snake Eyes' Sheep KD
In this explosive new issue the repo crew heads to Death Valley and Miami, closing in on the possessed Sarah. But some traps are laid in their path and powerful Demons ambush them. Is there more to Sarah than they know? Who wants her and who's protecting her?
Picking up from the cliffhanger that was issue number one, the trio of demon hunters manage to talk their way out of a standout with an small army of gun-toting thugs. After the tatted-up muscle of the team, Clay, sees his cousin in the ringleader, things quiet down enough for them to learn the woman they're after, Sarah Gold, is long gone.
It also looks like Sarah Gold, or more precisely the demon that has possessed her, is orchestrating the whole effort to thwart Clay, Martha, and Joe. And since they survived the strip club ambush, the stakes are raised as they follow their next lead to a metal concert in Death Valley. And things only go bonkers once they chase her all the way to Miami.
As far as the action goes, especially the demon battles, it's all pretty cool stuff. Each member of the team has their specialties in dealing with the various levels of hellspawn, from incantations and little potions, all the way to good ol' fashioned fire power. The chase, while feeling a bit like boss battles in a video-games, is fun to read too, but the motivations of team get a little muddled in this one--especially towards the end of the issue.
I'm still looking forward to reading the third issue, but the last page of this one really left me confused about the attitude of certain team members. check out Gef's review of issue #1
