Book Review: Baby’s Got Bite by Candace Havens + giveaway

Baby’s Got Bite
by Candace Havens
Release Date: July 28, 2015
Genre: paranormal romance
Publisher: Entangled
Bennett Langdon has a firm no-relationships policy. Still, it doesn't stop her from hooking up with a super-sexy bad boy at her best friend's wedding. After all, it's only one night—what harm could it do? Ten weeks later, a pregnant Bennett has her answer...

Linc Monahan can't believe it. This wasn't supposed to happen. He's a werewolf, and shouldn't be able to father a child with a human. Now Linc has to find some way to tell Bennett that not only do werewolves exist, but she's about to have a baby with one.

But when word of their surprise conception gets out, the fur hits the fan. There are people who don't want this baby to be born—even if it means killing. Now Bennett and Linc aren't just fighting each other...they're fighting for their lives.

Wow...I think I have been missing out on this author and series. Great spunky and hunky characters with lots of romance and a little "gritty" sex! A good mix with a little for everyone. Don't pick this up if you want fright and might or if colorful language offends you but if you are looking for a "don't put me down" quick read then this is for you. It definitely was for me!

I enjoyed the fact that both MC were not looking for romance but getting "caught" after a one night stand, they picked up the harness and worked through the how's and where's and what's. Even daring a relationship of an "Alfa male" wolf and an "in your face" fae! No long boring game playing for these two with similar pasts.

I do believe Linc (male MC) was a supporting character in the first of the series and it sounds like he merited his own story. I will definitely be getting the first book to see a little more background on his close friend Nick.

Short read, short review......my suggestion?......pick this one up!

I give this 4 heartwarming sheep.

Book Review: Hex (Sexton Academy Book 1) by Mackenzie McGuire

Hex (Sexton Academy Book 1)
by Mackenzie McGuire
Pages: 207
I’m Reece. A month ago I died along with my two best friends in a car crash. Obviously, my death didn't last long. Since then, I hear voices and the nightmares – don’t even get me started. I just wanted to be normal. That meant leaving my lux L.A. life for the gothic, and icy, Saxton Academy in the mountains of Vermont. Away from the tabloids, I had a plan to get my life together. But that just isn't possible. Thanks to hotties Eli McKinnon and Carden McDowell I discovered my life is a lie. They want to help me reach my potential. I just want to be a regular girl. But darkness is coming, and if I want to stay alive, I may not have a choice.

I know I’m crazy. I hear voices, I black out and I see people that can’t possibly be there. Now granted I’ve been under a lot of stress. I was in a car crash where I died along with my two best friends. I came back, they didn’t. I miss them so much! My doctor and my parents decided it was time for a fresh start. So I traveled clear across the country to Vermont to Sexton Academy. I was use to a good life but this place is awesome and don’t get me started on the hot guys.

Good read for teens. Fun story filled with magic and romance. Many good twists and turns that you won’t see coming. Kept me guessing until the end. I will have to check out the next book when it is released. The two ladies that wrote this book together did a good job and should be proud.

You might have guessed that Mackenzie lives a life surrounded by celebrities and witches, and you’d be mostly correct. Except in her world the celebrities are on TV and the witches are imaginary friends. She knows a thing or two about making up a good story, since she is actually the creation of two friends: Candace Havens and Gwen Reyes. Although Mackenzie is Candace’s and Gwen’s escape from reality, she does often have a mind all her own.

Candace Havens
Bestselling author Candace Havens has written multiple novels for Berkley, Entangled and Harlequin. Her books have received nominations for the RITA’s, Holt Medallion and Write Touch Reader Awards. She is the author of the biography Joss Whedon: The Genius Behind Buffy and a contributor to several anthologies. She is also one of the nation’s leading entertainment journalists and has interviewed countless celebrities including Tom Hanks, Nicolas Cage, Tom Cruise, George Clooney and many more. Her entertainment columns can be read in more than 600 newspapers across the country. And she is the Editorial Director for the Covet, Edge and Select lines atEntangled Publishing. Candace also runs a free online writing workshop for more than 2200 writers, and teaches comprehensive writing class. She does film reviews with the Hawkeye & Dorsey on 96.3, and is a former President of the Television Critics Association.

Gwen Reyes
Gwen Reyes has always had an insatiable thirst for a great story, and thanks to her love of books (and disgust with the corporate lifestyle) she has the opportunity to bring together authors and readers.) Her writing career began in 2009 following a three year stint in the film festival world. As a member of the Television Critics Association Gwen travels all over the country to interview your favorite actors and actresses. Gwen lives in Dallas, Texas with her direwolf boxer mutt Loki, whose favorite movie is “Lady and the Tramp.”
