Plot:

Chase the Darkness is book 7 in this shifter pnr series, this was my first time reading about the saga. I was very pleased that it;s written in such a way that you can start from this point. Or any point. The writer does a good job of filling in any holes with past characters, without making it tedious for longtime readers. You can tell that past relationships were had and if anything, you want to go back and read about their journey to HEA.
Our leading man hunk Micah has some skeletons rattling around in his closet. He's not telling the whole truth about his dark desires, but soon his secrets will come out and he's going to have to face the sober music. For anyone who's struggled with addiction, a lot of this may hit home. But there is hope and you're there to take the journey with him, it's a good one.
This pack seems to be an eclectic one, most have some type of additional shifter power. Which is fun and gives them an almost super hero team feel. But I do need to complain that the impression I got was women getting the shit end of the stick. Not one of the gals had any type of power that I could see. No super strength or even healing powers. Nothing. Maybe it's in past books, maybe not. The whole team of badass shifters is made up of males. So the men head off to war, while the little ladies sit at home and await them.
It sure does not help that our leading gal Jacee, while being a coyote shifter, is meek and easily spooked out. She's a shifter. She can shift into a coyote. I don't know but it seems she should be able to hold her own in some capacity. Other then making chili and shopping. Just my thoughts, but this surely wont bug all the gals.
Overall, this was a fun tale in the shifter world or paranormal romance. I would have enjoyed stronger female characters and villains a little less transparent, but overall enjoyable.

J.D. writes dark, sexy paranormal romance and has a huge thing for shifters, vampires, the Fae, and just about everything else that goes bump and grind in the night. She can’t get enough of those dangerous supernatural heroes, and the fun of creating her own was just too much temptation to resist… so she didn’t. J.D. doesn’t do self-denial.
When she isn’t writing, J.D.’s idea of a good time certainly isn’t cleaning house (sniff), bungee jumping (not in this lifetime, or the next), or camping (her idea of “roughing it” is a slow bellboy). She enjoys reading, being pampered like the diva she is, and spending time with her awesome family. She lives in Texas with her two teenagers.
