Plot: 

The follow-up to the 2011 hit comedy "Horrible Bosses" reunites Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis as everyone's favorite working stiffs: Nick, Dale and Kurt. Jennifer Aniston ("We're the Millers"), and Oscar (R) winners Jamie Foxx ("Ray") and Kevin Spacey ("American Beauty," "The Usual Suspects") also reprise their "Horrible Bosses" starring roles, while Chris Pine ("Star Trek: Into Darkness") and Oscar (R) winner Christoph Waltz ("Django Unchained," "Inglourious Basterds") star as new adversaries standing between the guys and their dreams of success.

I really enjoyed the first Horrible Bosses. Sure, it's juvenile and insane most of the time but that's why I loved it! Humor and fun, mixed with silly antics and all set to a neurotic beat. These guys are like a modern day three stooges! The second installment wasn't as witty as the original, but it was a fun enough comedy to kick back and relax to. 

Sometimes you want to be silly and just enjoy a slightly darker adult comedy. If you're in that kind of mood and love to laugh, then check this one out. All the old cast and characters are back and they bring some new faces to the comedy platform. Christoph Waltz, while not necessarily doing any comedy was still kind of funny. In a deadpan way. Chris Pine shows off his "love to hate you" comedy chops and brings the cast all the way around to the predictable ending. 

I personally enjoy voices, not just the ones in my head, but the imitation kind. (Stefon from SNL comes to mind as a great example.) These dudes had me busting up with the cowboy and old-time miner twangs. 

Make sure to stick around and watch the outtakes, it's hard to imagine how this film was even made! They crack not only each other up but themselves in almost every take. You'd have to be a very patient director to put up with these colorful guys!

Horrible Bosses, delightfully nasty!

Horrible Bosses directed by Seth Gordon stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston, Donald Sutherland, Jamie Fox and Colin Farrell. It's a ridiculous comedy that walks the thin line of over the top, but somehow it all works out. I haven't laughed this hard during a film all year, best that's come out in 2011!

Plot:

For Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day), the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses (Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston) into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con (Jamie Foxx), the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers... permanently. There'

One of the most delightful things about this film is that all the actors really put effort into giving outstanding performances. No part big or small was left out. The funny comes in waves and when it hits the sweet spot you will bust up laughing. At least two major parts during the film (breaking into Colin's characters house and Charlie's character rocking out in his car. PS I have that cd! lol) had me almost to tears. I was a fan of Bateman before the film and after watching a performance like this it only strengthens my love of this talented actor. While the script may not have been as meaningful as Bridesmaids, it still held the audience's attention with the comedy-driven storyline.

The bosses we love to hate in the story all brought the ugly, especially Spacey. His portrayal of the boss that's just out to make everyone's life hell was so good I actually started to hate the guy. Spacey's performance was well acted and wickedly evil, my hats off to another brilliant actor. Aniston may have a "good girl" image on the silver screen but you won't be thinking that after catching this film. She taps her inner slut (not saying anything bad here people) amazingly well, adding much needed depth to her typical type cast roles. Hunky Farrell rounds out the trio as the coke (not the drink) addicted slimy madman that you just want to knock out. A FAR cry from his previous roles as well, he may not be sexy in this but how could you not love the Irish hunk. ;)

Overall the movie is a barrel of laughs that you don't want to miss it. It's got just enough raunch mixed in with solid comedy to somehow hold it all together. Stay in your seats for the outtakes at the end, you won't want to miss those. :)

Going the Distance, meets me half way.

Going the Distance, directed by Nanette Burstein and staring Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate and Charlie Day is a cute romantic comedy about making a relationship work in undesirable circumstances.

Plot:

Garrett (Justin Long) has always had a problem with commitment and understanding what women want. He seems to be doing everything right until he learns the hard way that he cannot speak the female language when his girlfriend drops him. That night, his friends want to brighten up his spirits by taking him to a bar. He meets Erin (Drew Barrymore) playing a game and ends up buying her a beer, then winning at bar trivia, and having breakfast with her the next morning. Erin is only in New York City for the summer, and will be returning to grad school in San Francisco in six weeks. They start a no-strings-attached summer fling relationship that turns into a seriously meaningful love affair. They realized that they were meant for each other, but when Erin returns home, will their love survive the distance, between New York City and San Francisco?

Being from The Bay Area myself, I love love love when movies show some love to my area. Nor Cal! If you have never been to SF its a must see, plan a trip out this way asap. Sorry about the side track moment. Back to the movie itself.

The first few minutes made me a little leery of what the movie would be like; very bad acting in the beginning is usually a good sign that a movie is going to be a dud. After the awful opening, the movie picked up and started to take on life. I found myself enjoying the characters and the close friends and family Erin and Garret have in their lives. Roommates who provide a musical soundtrack? I mean come on, who wouldn't want to get a little freaky to the Top Gun soundtrack! lol Thats a classic!

Nothing is off limits with this couple--Kitchen tables beware! ;)

It's a fun romantic comedy that is enjoyable but it's not going to get raving reviews from me. Decent movie worth seeing.
