Excerpt: Pirate’s Curse: Division 1 (The Berkano Vampire Collection) by Leigh Anderson & Rebecca Hamilton + giveaway

Pirate’s Curse: Division 1 (The Berkano Vampire Collection)
by Leigh Anderson & Rebecca Hamilton
October 22nd 2017
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal
Once upon a time, a vampire and a witch fell in love, and that love fractured the world. Now divided into sixteen isolated Divisions, the world is an unstable and dangerous place.

In the Division of NOLA, Catheryn Beauregard fears her burgeoning magical powers. Hiding as just another slave in the home of the Hoodoo Queen, Catheryn hopes her simplistic powers will simply go unnoticed. And her plan seems to be working…until the Hoodoo House is attacked by a ruthless band of vampire pirates.

Captain Rainier Dulocke and his crew need humans to feed on. In an act of desperation, they beset the Hoodoo House and take ten slaves to sustain them. Rainier takes a girl named Catheryn for himself, but her blood is giving him terrible side effects. Still, he refuses to give her up. Even when the Hoodoo Queen demands her return.

The NOLA Division is in danger. The waters are rising. Food is running out. And the Hoodoo Queen is about to destroy everything that’s left if the pirates don’t meet her request. Now Catheryn must choose who will die: the humans who sold her, the witches who bought her, or the vampires who stole her. If she fails to decide, everyone could die.

PIRATE’S CURSE is a standalone contribution to The Berkano Vampire collection. Stories can be read in any order. To learn more, visit FallenSorcery.com

EXCERPT:
Don’t breathe, Catheryn thought. If you breathe, you’re dead.

From her place in the closet, she could see the flicker of torchlight as the pirates ran back and forth through the house. The vampire pirates. The most dangerous creatures she knew of. They needed human blood to live. Her blood. The blood of her fellow slaves.

But what were they doing here? In the Hoodoo House? She was supposed to be safe here. The Hoodoo Queen was a powerful woman. Surely she could fight them off. All Catheryn had to do was be quiet. Be still. Don’t breathe.

Catheryn clenched and flexed her fingers. There were no weapons in the closet. If someone found her, she would have no way to defend herself. She looked at her hands and willed them to do…something. Anything.

This closet was her safe place. A small nook under the stairs she often visited when she wanted to be alone, to collect her thoughts. To practice her budding magic. She had already been hiding in the closet before the pirates arrived. Though this time, she hadn’t been planning on coming out.

Because this time, she hadn’t hidden away to work on her magic.

She’d hidden because she’d screwed up.

EXCERPT:
“There,” he said, pointing at Kelia’s face. “You have a range of emotion littering your face.” He chuckled. “You’re easier to read than a book.”

Kelia bristled. She absolutely detested knowing she was here because she needed the assistance of a Sea Shadow. And not just any, but the most infamous vampire pirate of them all.

“I found out some information,” she murmured. “And I feel you would be able to assist me in what to do with it.”

He tilted his head to the side, his eyes shining. “Do share, darling.”

It was hard to concentrate when he smiled that way. Kelia had known he was dangerously beautiful, but when he was directly in front of her, cocking a smile like it was a weapon and shooting it in her direction, she was completely powerless.

“Well, don’t be shy with the goods,” he prodded. “What did you find that you need my help with?”

She shot him a glare, and he laughed.

“You are so good to goad, darling,” Drew said. “Something you need to work on. You don’t want your enemies to pick up on your weakness. They might use it to manipulate you.”

Kelia arched her eyebrow. “And how do I know who my enemies are?”

Drew’s smirk deepened. “That, my dear, is a very good question.”

Taken by the Beast (The Conduit #1)

April 29th 2018
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Retelling, Romance
It’s not until a missing girl is found chained up in Abram’s home that this beauty realizes one of her romantic interests is a beast.

When I took this job at New Haven’s first ever Night Club, it was just to try to get on my own two feet. I hadn’t expected to fall for my boss.

Now, I can’t seem to stay away, despite all the warning signs he’s hiding something from me. It’s not until I find a missing girl chained up in his home that I realize he’s a beast. And by then, it’s too late.

Magic is real, and I’m really in trouble. My boss might chain me up next, and I think I’d like it.

This hot alpha male shifter is sure to be your new favorite book boyfriend in this scorching hot beauty and the beast retelling! See what fans of Celia Kyle, Ilona Andrews, and J.R. Ward are calling their latest paranormal romance addiction.

EXCERPT:
I shook my head. I didn’t want to stay here, in some place where they spun tales tall enough to make your best friend sleep with a gun under her pillow.

I didn’t want to be that person, not for anything. And something told me that if I stayed here long enough, I wouldn’t be able to help it.
No, I would go to sleep, wake up, collect the supplies I needed from town, and fix the stupid fence. Then I would get a job, save up like crazy, and make a break for it. Maybe I could call my (former) agent and beg him to take me back.

Hell, the Sears Catalog always needs models.

I punched my pillow, trying not to think about this ridiculous place, about all it had seen me lose.

“Idiots,” I muttered, climbing into bed. “They turn their town into a pressure cooker and then they make monsters out of thin—”

A sudden howling cut off my words.

Tensing, I threw off my covers and lurched for the window.

The sound was nothing. A dog, or something. I would prove that to myself.

I glared out into those goddamn woods. See, nothing. Absolutely—

A shadow moved between the trees, hulking and burly, but also tall. Too tall to be an animal.

I blinked hard, once, and then again. When I looked back, there was nothing there.

Stop it, Char.

This place would drive me crazy if I let it. It was nothing. An animal.

I got back in bed, trying to feel more New York and less New Haven.

But somewhere in the back of my mind, I couldn’t let go of the howl…or the markings…or the dead girl who looked just like me.
