Patrick O'Hearn just got back home from a long tour overseas with his SEAL unit. The big grizzly is ready to lie back and enjoy the snowy mountain inn retreat his brother renovated last year, meet his brother's wife and some of her family, enjoy good food, etc. The last thing he ever expected was to find a mate, especially not his sister-in-law.
Now he can't think of anything but unwrapping the gorgeous sassy blonde and making her his forever.

Wolf shifter Tess Demakis is finally getting to live her life the way she wants, she’s living with her sister in the city among all the lights, night life and people yet she still feels like she’s missing something. When Tess and her sister head over to her brother in law’s mountain retreat to spend some time with their extended family, she isn’t prepared to meet her fated mate or for the fact that he’s a grizzly bear.
Navy SEAL Patrick O’Hearn is spending the holidays meeting his brother’s new wife and family. After a long tour, all he wants to do is to eat, drink and relax but when he sets his eyes on his new sister-in-law, he knows she’s his one. He just has to convince her that he’s a safe bet.
Unwrapping Tess had just about every type of popular shifter you can think of. It was a holiday gathering with bears, wolves and big cats which was pretty neat but I kept expecting some kind of big fight with so many predators in the same room. Didn’t happen but that’s okay, Unwrapping Tess was still a fun read. Tess is such a spunky character, she wants to have full control of her life but at the same time she feels such a strong sense of loyalty to those she considers her family. Patrick on the other hand, not much was revealed about him other than the fact that he cares for his brother deeply and respects those around him.
If you’re looking for a story, you’re not going to get it with Unwrapping Tess. It’s just a one shot, more like a handful of scenes in a larger story. I don’t know much about author Krystal Shannan’s style but it seems that she likes to keep things passionate but light hearted. There’s no real conflict here, Patrick and Tess have the insta-love thing going on, or at least, insta-lust. Because that’s how shifters roll.
All in all, Unwrapping Tess is a fun, sexy, quick read for someone who is looking for the book version of an appetizer.
