Carolina Romance Writers: Sip and Sign Featuring Christie Craig + giveaway

There are so many great authors living in NC and lots of chances to meet them. Carolina Romance Writers is the local RWA chapter. They put on an event in Charlotte for readers to stop by and mingle with some of their members.

They gave out nice tote bags with swag and everyone was friendly and excited to talk about books!

I took some pictures and got some signed swag to give away.

I drove to Charlotte with my friend and author Adrienne Wilder along with my date, Pello, the fart ninja.

I caught a shot of Adrienne Wilder (right pic wearing a knit hat). Adrienne just had a contemporary mm romance release, Wild.

 

I was excited to meet Cecy Robson. The second book in her Weird Girls Flame Series comes out this month. She gave me a signed tote and swag to give away.

I finally got a chance to meet Zoe Forward. She has a new PNR out. Rawr!

Nancy Northcott was also there. She has a new sci-fi anthology out, Outcast Station...which I am reading right now! She also writes PNR and historical fantasy.

I met L.P. Dover. She writes contemporary romance but also has the Royal Shifters series (werewolves) and the Forever Fae series. She has a lot of books for free right now on amazon (first books in series)

Shaila Patel was so excited to talk about her debut YA paranormal romance Soulmated (Joining of Souls) that is getting a lot of love on amazon...and it's on sale right now for $4.61,

 Caroline Lee has a sweet coming of age PNR series, Everland Ever After Tales. Little Red Book One is free on amazon. All the covers in this series are gorgeous!

She also writes historical romances and contemporary western romances.

Carolina Romance Writers brought in New York Times Best-Selling author Christie Craig. She has written more than 30 books and thousands of magazine articles.

She is also author CC Hunter writing the YA dark fantasy PNR series Shadow Falls.

CC Hunter has a book that is very special to her coming out Feb 27, 2018. This Heart of Mine is a YA romance and mystery thriller about a 17-year-old girl who receives a heart transplant.

Recap: NolaStoryCon 2016 + giveaway

NolaStoryCon was a new reader convention put together by authors (and friends)—Jeaniene Frost, Melissa Marr, Ilona Andrews, Kelley Armstrong and Jennifer L. Armentrout in New Orleans, Sept. 30 to Oct. 1, 2016. It was a three day event with lot of chances to mingle with over 30 authors, including special guest author Charlaine Harris signings, diner party and excursions in the city. Katie and I bought tickets for the Saturday events.

Katie and I meet once a year at a convention and this year we picked NolaStoryCon. We only attended the Saturday events, but you could have bought tickets for Friday and Sunday too.

We sat through three panels where authors talked and answered audience questions. Lot of laughs were had.

 

Saturday afternoon was the big signing. Ticket holders got in first and we managed to talk with each author, get stuff signed and fangirl when required. The signing was then opened up to the public and from what I understand there were a lot of them. 1400 was the figure I heard, but I'm not sure.

 

 

 

Saturday night was the dinner and games. After filling up on cake there was a costume contest and then some fun games were played like Truth or Dare for some authors. At the end of the night they did a drawing for all the table center pieces which were decorated shoes! Katie and I both won a shoe (pictured below). We got one signed by Jeaniene Frost and the other by Kresley Cole.

The other days we spent touring New Orleans...yes, we went to Bourbon Street at night with some other bloggers *cough* Jackie "Literary Escapism *cough*. I had my first Hurricane...those things are deceptively potent. We also did a night tour of the famous female killers of New Orleans.

So many pretty houses. Even the one used in American Horror Story as well as Anne Rice's house.

 

Our hotel was awesome. We stayed at the Prytania Park Hotel in the Garden district. We were just a trolley ride away from all the action. Plus there was Voodoo BBQ across the street.

Went into my first casino (it was Baaarts first time as well) We lost money, duh!
