TV Show Review: Outer Range: Season 2 (TV Series) on Amazon Prime (Spoiler Alert)

Spoiler alert

Outer Range: Season 2 (TV Series)
2022- present
Created by: Brian Watkins
Genre: Drama; Mystery; Neo-Western; Science fiction; Thriller
Network: Amazon Prime Video
Cast: Josh Brolin, Imogen Poots, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Isabel Arraiza, Tamara Podemski
The Abbotts are coping with the disappearance of their daughter-in-law when the neighbouring Tillersons make a play for their ranch land. Tension comes to a head when a mysterious black void arrives in the Abbotts' pasture.

Outer Ranger Season 2 on Amazon Prime stars Josh Brolin, Lili Taylor, Imogen Poots, Lewis Pullman and Tamara Podemski. I had a free month of Prime shipping so I figured, what the heck I'll try this. Holy Moly. What a crazy show!

Season 1 leaves us with so many questions, what is this hole? What is the purpose and why is it just popping up? There's so much to unpack. We know Josh Brolin who plays Royal Abbot is somehow a key of sorts to this whole sci fi phenomena, but we don't know much else.

We watch Sheriff Joy who got trapped in the past and thankfully she gets back to her family. Although so mush time has passed on her end. My girl is CHANGED. To her core. She's seen some things man and I can not blame her for coming back with all kinds of PTSD. Of course she wants to talk it out with Royal, but he's trying to save his family and possibly the world from this dang-gum hole!

All the bodies and debris they keep throwing in that thing, have to be just piled up some place in time. Some poor souls in another time are just seeing bodies fall from the sky. No wonder we believe in Alien abductions! But I digress, this town has so much going on it's hard to keep track.

Plus, this show feeds you just a drop at a time. I feel like so many cards are being held back, maybe more unseen players are coming up. I have no idea and often find myself almost frustrated to watch another episode. Yet, I do. The show is very compelling, I just wish they would explain more. My god, talk Royal! Use your words! He's so closed lipped, it's like pulling teeth with a fork! You're killing me dude.

I have no idea why Amy/Autumn is so being so weird, why she thinks that she's almost like a god. But she's got some real mental health issues and hopefully more will come in season 3. Is she really going to be bad? I'm not so sure, but it's very hard to tell.

TV Show Review: Halo Season 2 TV Series - SPOILERS ALL OVER THIS

 Halo Season 2 TV Series
2022–
Creators: Steven Kane, Kyle Killen
Stars: Pablo Schreiber, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac
Paramount+
Rating: TV-14
Episode length: 1h
9 episodes
Genre: Science Fiction, action, adventure
With the galaxy on the brink of destruction, Master Chief John-117 leads his team of Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant.

SPOILERS ALL OVER THIS

Halo, the series season 2, has been one heck of an action-packed ride! If you're reading, you've been warned about spoilers ahead. We pick up season 2 not long after the timeline of the first season. John and the team of Spartans are "benched" and forced to just train all the live long day. Boring!

The new management at the UNSC is shady AF from the start, but no surprises there. Never trusted any of them. Maybe Cortana was the only exception, but it was hard to tell what she was really up to for so long. All the suits want is to make weapons and win the war. At all costs. Which, okay, I get that humanity is on the line, but some dirty tactics and so freakin' sneaky!!!

So the team is forced to watch the action from the sidelines and, in doing so, watch their Master Chief John leader seem to fall apart. (Side note: Pablo, who plays Chief John, is a 6 foot 5 demi-god of pure alpha male. LOVE HIM!) As the viewers, we see what the 'powers that be' can't, and so we know that his lady love/hate, Makee, is alive and well. Plotting and brewing back with the covenant and still searching for the artifacts. I don't know why she went back with them. They wanted her dead, so makes no sense to me. She's a total wild card.

We get to see lots more of Soren and family, plus the mysterious Kwan Ha. She holds some kind of powers or abilities that have been alluded to, which tie together the three main characters. Dr Halsey is still manipulating everyone, all the time but she's still a very intriguing character that you really have no idea what she will do next. No matter what, it will always be something for her own gain.

Captain Keys gave one of the best speeches before battle time that I've heard, maybe since Braveheart. That man can rally the damn troops! Loved his heart at the end, even if he too has been part of some very awful behavior to obtain these kids.

Long live Vannak! What a guy, what a soldier and what a friend to his team. You just start to see another side of him, and it's snuffed out. At least, in the end, he dies a freaking hero.

Some weird parts of the overall storyline left some gaps for me about what was going on. If I had played the game, maybe I would have known. But as just a viewer, it's like things are glossed over. If you know, you know, kind of feeling. But that said, what another fun ride on a show with so much more to offer than visual effects and bang bang shoot'em up.

We end this season with some gross virus that is turning everyone so far into almost zombie-like creatures and gross bug things come out of them. Was very scary and gory in parts, plus with Dr Halsey now infected and on ice, we just have no idea if she can make it. Her daughter better be working on that cure! Hope she paid attention in chemistry.

Tons of character depth, intergalactic high jinxes, well-acted thoughtful characters, heartfelt moments, loss of likable characters, and certainly a scifi show that makes you feel like you're right in the thick of it all. I can not wait for season 3! Soren's a single dad now, this ancient city and tech, is Kai alive or dead, what will happen next?!

I highly recommend this one for everyone of all ages. Video game or not; it is so enjoyable!

TV Show Review: Doom Patrol season 2

Doom Patrol season 2
Premiere Date: Jun 25, 2020
Exec. Producers: Jeremy Carver, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Chris Dingess
Cast: Timothy Dalton, Matt Bomer, Joivan Wade, Riley Shanahan, April Bowlby, Diane Guerrero
Genre: Action & adventure, Comedy-drama
Network: DC Universe (Season 2)
HBO Max
Doom Patrol is a team of traumatized and downtrodden superheroes, each of whom has suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities but also left them scarred and disfigured. The members of the team have found their purpose through The Chief and have come together to investigate some of the world's weirdest phenomena. After The Chief mysteriously disappears, though, the reluctant heroes find themselves called to action by Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission that they cannot refuse. Doom Patrol -- part support group, part superhero team -- is a band of superpowered freaks fighting for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

Doom Patrol season 2 on HBO Max was just what I've come to expect with this acid-trip random-ass puppet show. DC brings the full array of nutballs and whack jobs from their closet, dusts them off, and lets them play house all over the screen. The show is intensely dark, weird, makes no sense at times, and yet makes all the sense in the universe at others. It's a mixed bag of Spam and Candy Canes in one bite. Yet, it freaking works!

As we pick up on season 2, we get to know Dorthy a lot better. She has her "friends" that make appearances here and there. But the main theme is the Candle Maker, we don't know what's up with the guy, but bad news is the theme. Jane continues to battle with all the voices inside her, the struggle to control and contain is draining on her and it gets hard to watch at times. And yet, I can't look away.

Cliff is still struggling to just BE. He's not happy most of the time and continues to find ways to blame everyone around him, yet we want him to find peace. Rita and Larry are in the same boat as well. We want them both to find peace, master their powers, and live a life that will be meaningful to them. However, nothing is ever easy in this universe and so the wash, rinse, repeat goes on and on. And yet, I can't look away.

Cyborg.....I don't know what to say, except he's so on his high horse at times. Almost judgmental. Which I find out of place with all the other characters. And yet, I can't look away!

Danny the Street has got to be one of my favorite characters from any of the shows I've recently watched. I would party there any day, any time! The world that DC has created draws you in and won't let you go. It is so weird and thus why it is so great. I can't look away, and I sure as hell don't want to.

It’s the climax of season two and even with Katie fighting alongside The Intergalactic Cross-Dimensional League of Vampblades, it’s unclear whether they’ll be enough to save Earth. One thing’s for sure, it’s going to take… all the blades!!!
Features 3 covers each with a risqué variant – including one by Dan Mendoza (Zombie Tramp, DollFace)!

I’ll Take That Comic with Extra Cheese!

It all started when a good friend of mine at I Smell Sheep said “Hey, Jonathan, you like comics, right? Why don’t you write some comic reviews?”

I said, “Okay, I do like comics. What would you like me to review?”

Suddenly my inbox was flooded with comic options. There were so many comic options. A lesser comic lover would have been overwhelmed, but not me! I picked….

Vampblade Volume 2 #12

It’s written by Jason Martin with artist, Winston Young. Why did I pick it? Was it the pretty girl in the form-fitting costume? Was it the cool blades coming out of her back and the blood everywhere? Was it the cool title that suggested vampires? Yes! Yes! And Yes! The cover delivers. It screams, “Pick me! Pick me!” Isn’t that what a good comic cover is supposed to do?

In order to review this issue, I had to read the three issues that come before it. So, I picked up issue nine and began to read the story arch. The story arch gripped me. I was like, “Let me go, story arch!” and the story arch was all, “Bwa ha ha ha! I’ll never let you go! You must read me through to completion!”

There are no vampires in the conventional sense in this story arch. A young comic book shop worker, Katie, has these blades that feast upon the villains that fall prey to them. There’s a really cool little imp creature involved. It’s a complicated process that makes the reader go from, “What the? Where are the vampires?” to “Ohhh! Vampblade! Very clever, comic book!”

Here is the story in a nutshell. There are aliens bent on destroying the earth. There big purple nasty looking aliens, the kind that just won’t listen to reason. Throughout the comic arc they have the upper hand. It looks like they’re going to win. I went from issue to issue saying, “What’s going to happen next?” (Luckily, I keep a Bluetooth earpiece in my ear so people don’t think I’m crazy.) Along the way I enjoyed a story that was full of action, humor, and cheesiness (not stinky cheese but the good kind). It’s the kind of stuff you want to find in a comic book.

Issue twelve is the deus ex machina episode. The alien invasion is in full swing. Things are as bleak as they can get, when suddenly, the whole dynamic of the comic book is changed forever. If it wasn’t so brilliantly done, I might have gotten mad. Needless to say, there is much fighting and those vampire blades all get a proper feeding.

The artwork is bold and colorful. It’s full of eye-catching reds and purples. Lots of action and plenty of Katie to feast the eye upon. My eyes came out of this story quite satiated. Check it out!

The story arch ends in a cliffhanger that actually left me curious about what happens next. I give this issue a solid four sheep. I highly recommend it for the comic reader who is just looking for a fun read. There might not be any conventional vampire but there is lots of action and lots of fun.

Sheep Talk: The Librarians Season 2

The Librarians
First episode date: December 7, 2014
Network: TNT
Number of seasons: 2
Executive producers: Dean Devlin, Noah Wyle, John Rogers
Directors: Jonathan Frakes, Dean Devlin
Cued by TNT's popular "The Librarian" trilogy, this series introduces new members of an ancient group protecting mystical artifacts. Hidden below the Metropolitan Public Library, the secret society's longtime leader is Flynn Carsen, whose job has become very complicated. To help, the Library recruits Eve, a counterterrorism agent responsible for organizational security; Jacob, who has encyclopedic knowledge of art, architecture and history; Cassandra, who links auditory/sensory hallucinations to memory; and Ezekiel, a skilled thief and master technician. Overseeing them is Jenkins, the reclusive caretaker of the Library's sleepy little annex in Oregon. Noah Wyle executive produces and recurs as Flynn, the role he played in the movie series.-google

Pamela
Not a mid-season ender, but a final one for Season 2 of The Librarians. This TV series on TNT is based off The Librarian movies. The star of The Librarian TV movies, Noah Wylie (Flynn Carson) is one of the executive producers of seventeen episodes of this TV series. He also appears in it on several occasions in Season 1 and this season. At the last episode for Season 2, it looks like he may be staying for Season 3 when it returns in 2016. So why, you say, would anyone care about a group of librarian setting off on adventures in an effort to save mysterious, ancient artifacts? First if you like fantasy, this series has it in spades. They have John Larroquette as Jenkins who serves the Library and the Librarians. Last season we found out he was one of King Arthur’s knights of the Round Table—immortal since that time (spoiler, highlight to read). And each week, they travel through a magical doorway to end up in different parts of the world or even time, to secure these artifacts for the Library and fight monsters and villains. And as fun as the original TV movies were.

In the last episode, “And the Final Curtain,” Prospero gains renewed magic that creates havoc with the world's technology. Flynn and Eve Baird (hired to be the new Librarians’’ guardian first season) must travel back to 1611 to battle Prospero and thwart his scheme to recreate a forest utopia. The season ended satisfactorily for me and I cannot wait until next year—no doubt November 2016—for Season 3.

You can watch Season 2 free at http://www.tntdrama.com/shows/the-librarians.html

For Season 1, it says free at IMDB: http://goo.gl/g9XzVZ and $1.99 per episode at Amazon. It is also available on DVD and Bu Ray at http://amzn.to/1VyUqQI The three TV movies are available on DVD and Blu Ray at Amazon.
I give 4.5 out of 5 for Season 2 of The Librarians.

JeanieH
I am absolutely in love with this series this season. I began watching the first season then lost interest. Picked it up this year and feel like they have gelled the stories and characters so much better. It's a cross between "Night at the Museum" and "Agents of Shield." A little history, a little magic and a little supernatural powers. I still haven't figured out the benefit of the female "guardian" role as it seems a little superfluous but it doesn't distract that much from the stories. If you gave up on it earlier, give it another try. I am always a fan of Noah Wylie and John Laraquette!
