In this small town, nothing is as it seems…
When artist Brie Lark left her vampire ex and her straitjacket of a hometown to breathe free in New York City, she promised herself two things: she’d never go back to Meiers Corner, and no more vampires. The last thing she expected—or wanted—was to be sent back home on an assignment. But her boss at the FBI needs her undercover on a murder case, working with a black-haired, black-eyed giant god of a man who’s her idea of perfection, except for one thing—he’s a vampire.

FBI Special Agent Seb Rikare is an ancient vampire hardened by loss. He’s cut all emotions to protect himself and leads a deliberately steady, almost sterile life. The brash young woman forced to pose as his lover irritates him, with her jangling bracelets and colorful hair. But as much as she irritates him, he finds himself drawn to her lively spirit and he’s tempted to make fantasy a reality.

You really can't go wrong with vampires. Not in my personal undead book anyway. Vamps are just plain ole fun! This vampy tale was exactly the way I wanted it. Hot and heavy girl porn with some good action and adventure to suck you in.

Sure, the story itself is not something earth shattering that's going to win every award in the universe. But does it need to be? Can we not just enjoy a fun PNR for what it is? I wont make you answer any other questions in this review. However, I will give you an answer to both. Hell no and yes we can sir!

As for the start of a new series, this is such an entertaining read you get a good feel for the characters. I know this new series is a spin-off from the authors other saga, so if you enjoy it as much as I did there is more where it came from.

Looking forward to book two!

I was intensely aware I was alone in a bedroom with Seb Rikare.

My whole body clenched.

His eyes changed. Heated. Darkened.

I swallowed hard. My heart started to beat faster. What would it be like to caress the silky-looking skin of his face? Nibble that honed jaw? Touch my mouth to those perfect, masculine lips? All I had to do was take a few short steps to find out.

I took one without even knowing it.

His nostrils flared and he drew in an excited breath.

He wants me, too. At the thought, my belly thrilled and my heart thumped hard. He’d touch me in return. Hold me secure in his strong arms. Cup my face in his big hands, press his lips to mine, communicating his need in a passionate kiss.

I took another step toward him.

He took a single, unconscious step toward me.

Oh, yeah. In that moment, I wanted to play with fire.

Sure, Derek had me under his spell within weeks. Seb, as strong and handsome as he was, could no doubt do it in days.

But just once wouldn’t hurt, right? I wanted to, so badly.

Couldn’t I touch him once, to see if his skin was silk or cream? Nibble his jaw, to test how honed it was? Taste his mouth, to satisfy the curiosity burning in my body?

Just a taste.

Somehow, while I argued with myself, my curious feet had brought me to stand before him. He gazed down at me. At nearly six feet myself, I was usually the one looking down. Even with me in heels, he was over half a foot taller. The novel experience sent another thrill through me.

I made a small noise, like a whimper.

His black eyes lit with fire, a hunger so primal I could see it burning in his gaze. His hands rose. Slowly, so I could have stopped him, he cupped my face in both his hands. My whole face. Damn, the man had big hands. He bent closer, his intent clear.

He was going to kiss me.

Book Review: All the Light There Is (The Healing Edge Book 3) by Anise Eden + giveaway

All the Light There Is (The Healing Edge Book 3)
by Anise Eden
September 12, 2017
Pages: 290
The highly anticipated finale to the Healing Edge series that began with All The Broken Places, recipient of the Paranormal Romance Guild’s 2016 Reviewer’s Choice Award

Psychotherapist Cate Duncan is done with danger. Her training at the MacGregor Group’s parapsychology clinic has brought one crisis after another. So when Skeet, her research colleague, offers Cate and her boss-turned-boyfriend Ben a working vacation at his secluded hunting lodge, they jump at the chance.

But the idyllic Mercier Lodge is teeming with secrets: Skeet’s unorthodox research methods, a tragic death that occurred at the lodge over a year ago, and its connection to Cate’s past.

As they delve into Mercier’s unsavory history, Ben and Cate stick close together, trusting in their love for each other to keep them safe. But when a scheme separates them, Cate must rely on the MacGregor Group’s paranormal abilities, some surprise allies, and her own determination to track Ben down and crack Mercier’s mysteries before the strange place claims any more victims.

The final book in The Healing Edge trilogy, All the Light There Is, finds Cate, Ben and the rest of the MacGregor Group at Mercier Lodge. Skeet invites the MacGregor Group to Mercier Lodge as a part vacation, part working week to discuss the team’s gifts and introduce them to part of Skeet’s team as well. Skeet wants to give Cate her inheritance from her father, who died over a year ago, and show her the beautiful lodge that her father was one-tenth owner in. Ben is overly concerned about letting Cate go to the lodge with all the mystery surrounding Skeet’s research and the possible implications in her father’s death.

This series is easy to read and touches on many of my favorites categories; paranormal abilities, romance and mystery. Cate recently joined the MacGregor group and is dating Ben, her boss. Ben is head over heels for Cate and has made it is life goal to protect her from harm, which Cate has a way of finding without even looking for it. Each member of the group represents a certain paranormal ability and their skills are needed to figure out what is really going on at the lodge.

Even though this is the last book in the trilogy I am hoping that Eden will continue the series as many authors are now doing by starting a new series that focuses on another aspect of the characters and their stories.

Anise Eden spends most of her time tucked away in her writing nook, imagining things that aren't there. On those rare occasions when she emerges from seclusion, Anise may be spotted in coffee shops, staring at her laptop screen and silently moving her lips as she reviews bits of dialogue. She may also be found standing in the middle of grocery store aisles, jotting down plot ideas on the back of her shopping list. Although Anise claims that she's the one in charge, the characters in her head do sometimes make her laugh out loud at inappropriate moments.

Comic Review: INFINITE SEVEN VOL. 1: KILL REPLACE KILL by Dave Dwonch

INFINITE SEVEN VOL. 1: KILL REPLACE KILL
Writer(s): Dave Dwonch
Artist Name(s): Arturo Mesa (Pencils)

Geraldo Filho (Colors)
Rated: T+ $14.99
For centuries, a secret world government has employed the INFINITE SEVEN, the world’s greatest assassins, to do their dirty work. The only way to become a member is to prove your worth by killing one of them. But what happens when Anthony Zane, a teenage boy from the suburbs, accidentally does just that? Action hero archetypes are reimagined in the blockbuster series of the year! Collecting issues 1-4 of the ongoing monthly series.

NOTE: Fans of the James Bond, GI Joe and 80s action films will LOVE Infinite Seven!

I'm always saying how much I love Action Lab Entertainment Comics. And one of my favorite writers is Dave Dwonch (Even got to meet him at NC Comicon once). He has another new comic, Infinite Seven. Equal parts humor, action, and WTF just happened?

The Infinite Seven is a group of secret assassins that work for The Shadow Cabinet, a secret world government group. They are in constant battles with the secret terrorist group Chimera. The Infinite Seven is made up of all the hero archetypes, such as a martial artist, a streetwise undercover cop, a tortured soul sorcerer, a commando, a cowboy, a Professor X, and a bad ass female.

Enter, Anthony Zane. He would be the Skywalker of the story. Anthony is your stereotypical tech nerd. Smash Brannagan is the arrogant, impulsive shoot first ask questions later kind of guy. Which ends getting him accidentally killed by Anthony. Who must now take up the Smash moniker and be a part of the Infinite Seven.
Kill Replace Kill is the first volume and includes issues 1-4. We learn about all the heroes and villains as well as watching the funny and tragic transformation of Anthony into Smash. There are a lot of WTF-ery moments you don't see coming and lots of action hero vs villain fighting. Even a small romantic subplot for Anthony (he has a Mary Jane).

The artwork has a (this is where my lack of an artistic description vocabulary shows) pencil sketch like quality...not sharp and clean. The color palette is muted. There are great facial expressions and an interesting variety of panel configurations.

Infinite Seven is a humorous action comic with twists that keep you guessing.

INFINITE SEVEN VOLUME 2 will be available in a comic book store near you on November 29, 2017. Preorder the book using Diamond item code SEP171064.
