Wings Of Fire, fantastic addition to the series!

Wings of Fire by author Caris Roane is the third installment in the World of Ascension series. Antony and Parisa take front seat this time around with ups and downs so low you won't know what's coming next. But oh what a fun ride!

Plot:
By night, the winged warrior Antony Medici fights the death vampires who threaten his world. By day, he hunts the rogue vampires who invade Mortal Earth. But deep in his heart rages the fiercest battle of all—his soul-searing passion for the one mortal he is sworn to protect…the one woman he is doomed to love.
Parisa Lovejoy is so beautiful, and so powerful, that Antony cannot fight the feelings she arouses. But his unexpected love only intensifies his strength as her Guardian—a strength that is put to the ultimate test when Parisa is abducted. Her captor, Commander Greaves, enslaves mortal women for their blood. If Parisa hopes to survive—and ascend—she must forge an even deeper bond with Antony…in the flames of eternity.

What I love about Caris's books is the layers upon layers of different plots that all weave together. You get your main characters front and center but you also get a balanced mix of all the side drama that's building to a nice simmer. With an overall theme of Good vs Evil, will the Warriors be able to keep the death vamps from taking over second earth? Who knows?! But the journey has been on heck of an adventure so far. Outnumbered and outmatched, the vamps for team good are not giving up and they'll go down swinging till the end. With a little luck and some help from the powers that be they may find a way to turn the tables for eternity. ;)

Antony and Parisa have been to hell and back over the past two books, forced together by powers out of their control the two must find a way to slake the lust that's building while keeping an emotional distance. Talk about emotional baggage, these lovebirds have it in spades! While Parisa did bug me a little here and there with some of her attitude she does pull it together by the end, thank the undead gods! But can this pair overcome some hurtful pasts to make a bond that could possibly save the planet? You just don't know, and I'm not telling. It's a wild ride that will suck you in to the vamp world from the first chapter.

The only downside I will note is I personally would like to see a bit more bonding and dialog between the warriors. They all have hundreds of years of history together and while you get some snips throughout each book I'd love to get more detail on the past bonds between the men and more in the present. And if they could all do this with no shirts on that would be even better. *evil laugh* Like Ward, Adrian, Ione and Cole (just to name a few) Caris has a unique ability to create a team of hunky men who all have amazing banter and core love/respect for one another. If you're a Vampire lover or know anyone who is, they can enjoy these books for the romantic fantasy that they are!

Does the title make anyone else want to start singing some Jeffrey Osborne 'On the wings of love'? No? Just me.....ok then. lol

  2. Okay - the idea of needing more bonding sounds good - we might need a musical intervention though :) Thanks for sharing about this book. I like adventure and this one sounds like it might be up my alley.
