The first in a planned series of shows detailing the Marvel universe, "Daredevil" follows Matt Murdock, attorney by day and vigilante by night. Blinded in an accident as a child, Murdock uses his heightened senses as Daredevil, fighting crime on the streets of New York after the sun goes down. His efforts are not welcomed by powerful businessman Wilson Fisk -- aka Kingpin -- and others whose interests collide with those of Daredevil. Though Murdock's day job portrays a man who believes in the criminal justice system, his alter ego suggests otherwise, as he takes the law into his own hands to protect his Hell's Kitchen neighborhood and the surrounding communities.Daredevil is a T.V. series created by Drew Goddard and produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios and shown on Nextfilx. All thirteen episodes went up at one time, practically begging to be binge watched. The show picks up sometime after the big alien invasion we saw in The Avengers. Hell's Kitchen in NY city is trying to rebuild. Lots of bad guys (Russian mob, Japanese drug lord, crooked politicians) have moved in looking to claim the area.
I haven't read the Marvel comic version of Daredevil so I went in without any expectations...well, if it has Marvel on it, I'm expecting entertainment. The show starts with Murdoch and his best friend Foggy buying an office for their law practice. Then it is off to the races as Murdoch and his scooby gang take on Mr. Fisk (villain) leaving behind a high body count. The hero/villain dynamic is well done. They both think they are doing what is best for their city. They find happiness along the way only to have it stripped from them as they make sacrifices to achieve their endgame.

Acting, writing, settings, were all good, but honestly I couldn't see most of the settings so I can't really comment on that aspect. Definitely worth watching if you like the darker side of superheroes.

Sounds like a bloodbath of moral ambiguity. Oh well guess I don't need netflix!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds interesting and since I just signed up for Netflix now I know what to watch first.
