Legion, based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, is the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens), a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic as a child, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. Now in his early 20's and free once again, David loses himself in the rhythm of the structured regimen of life in the daily life: breakfast, lunch, dinner, therapy, medications, sleep. David spends the rest of his time in companionable silence alongside his chatterbox friend Shannon (Aubrey Plaza), a fellow patient whose life-long and alcohol addiction has done nothing to quell her boundless optimism that her luck is about to change. The pleasant numbness of David's routine is completely upended with the arrival of a beautiful and troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller). Inexplicably drawn to one another, David and Syd share a startling encounter, after which David must confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees may actually be real.

Wow...great 1st episode. I had heard it was a cross of "The Twilight Zone", "Alfred Hitchcock" and Stephen King so ,of course, I had to watch. Now if they said it was directed by M. Night Shyamalan they would have it spot on!
Growing up with unrecognized powers might make anyone think they belonged in a mental institution. And that is where the story begins (with flashbacks of how he got there). And needless to say, the government (or something similar) is very interested in what this guy can do or knows. Indications that this is not the first super human they have dealt with gives it a "conspiracy" flavor.
David (Dan Stevens) escapes from the institution which seems to be government controlled and is "rescued" (remains to be seen) by another group; all of which are paranormal characters. That part thinly reminds me of the group of paranormals in the series "Shield". This series gives a little more meat on the bone with the characters. Even being somewhat unbalanced about who is who and what is what, the script was well written and performed and I for one loved it.
This series may seem a little confusing but if you are a fantasy, paranormal fan you will catch on quickly and I believe will be hooked in the 1st 15 minutes of the debut episode. Here's hoping the momentum and enticing story-line is maintained!
