W.I.P it Real Good: PNR author Alex Hayes + giveaway

WIP it Real Good
In addition to the main titles in The Chameleon Effect series, I have also written some tie-in stories. The first of these is The Golden Thread, a novella that introduces two of the Livran kids that Idris and Cadi (MCs from the series) will end up searching for.

Currently, I’m working on another tie-in story, Steel Strings. This novel is due to be released in December this year.

What is really fun and interesting about this story is that it happens concurrently with the first book of the series, Silken Scales. While Idris and Cadi are having their mad adventure in Silken Scales, Idris’ best friend, Marek, gets together with a girl called Brianna.

After completing Silken Scales, I really wanted to go back write Marek and Brianna’s love story. Steel Strings was supposed to be a novella, but morphed into something much greater, as these things often do.

As with the other titles in the series, Steel Strings contains a double meaning. One meaning refers to the strings on a cello, the other refers to metaphorical strings that signify finding strength and one’s own voice.

I wasn’t certain how I was going to successfully write from the point of view of a young black man (Marek), but I’ve found it a delight. As the story has progressed, his character and voice have blossomed. He played the best friend role in Silken Scales brilliantly, but in Steel Strings, he becomes a wonderful hero and love interest.

Here’s the story’s description…

Brianna Jones is pretty and popular…and that’s a problem.
If looks were her only asset, maybe she’d appreciate them more, but Brianna has a brain, a passion—and a project.
Inspired by her brother’s dismay over the lack of music in the lives of impoverished children, Brianna takes on the challenge to bring musical instruments to the needy.
She has a plan, but before she can bring her dream to light, she must combat her jealous sister, who has arrived home for the holidays on a mission to destroy everything Brianna holds dear.

Marek Lakewood is one of the few guys who sees Brianna for whom she really is, a girl with the intellect, creativity and talent to change the world.
Presented with the chance to work with her on a school project, Marek takes the leap and discovers Brianna’s life and aspirations are a whole lot more complicated than he ever imagined.

He knows he can’t compare to the guys she’s used to dating—including her current boyfriend with whom she has nothing in common. But maybe, if he appeals to her intelligence, he can find a way to earn her respect and win her heart.
Steel Strings will be released December 2019.

Genres: New Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Young Adult
Connell KurÄ“n doesn’t love being a paparazzo…

He’s a member of the most scorned profession in Hollywood, but he’s good at it, and a hard-ass to boot.

He might also be called an ambulance chaser, though not for the disreputable reason he chases celebrities. Connell has the ability to heal, and at the sound of a siren, he is drawn to those in need.

Life is just fine until his pushy paparazzi nature almost gets someone killed.

Rowan Bren suffers post-traumatic stress and a permanent headache following a near-death experience at the hands of her mortal enemy. After months, she still isn’t right, but she won’t be held back from seeking her bond mate, Con, any longer.

She travels to Los Angeles motivated to help her friend, Idris, with his brilliant plan to locate their missing people. But Rowan’s top priority in the City of Angels is to find Con. She doesn’t know where he lives, but she’s not worried, because her crystal will lead her straight to him.

When she trips into his world, she finds a man so different from the person she expects, she fears he might not be Con at all. That he might be possessed by an evil force like the one that almost killed her.

Siren Song is the third novel of the Chameleon Effect series.
