Book Review: Leopard's Hunt (A Leopard Novel Book 15) by Christine Feehan

by Christine Feehan
February 20, 2024
In this pulse-pounding novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Leopard series, animal instinct unites two elite shifters whose heads are at war with their hearts.

Gorya Amurov might be known as his family's peacekeeper, but the leopard inside him wants nothing more than to claw to the surface and unleash hell. A harsh life has shaped him into a vicious fighter with a calm exterior, but Gorya knows it's only a matter of time until he loses all control. Deep down, he truly believes he'd be better off dead, and that no woman will ever accept him as a mate....

Maya Averina has spent years hunting the criminals who destroyed her life, and she always takes down her prey. She keeps to herself, stays under the radar, and never loses focus. But with her body burning up and her mind distracted by her first heat, an ambush takes her by surprise. Now she's trapped, an unmated female shifter about to be sold off to the highest bidder. Maya is ready to fight her way out—until the most dangerous, powerful man she's ever encountered arrives to set her free....

Gorya is an elite Leopard shifter. He's taken over the criminal enterprise after killing everyone who used to run it. Now he's a better boss than his predecessor because he doesn't allow women and children to be abused the way he was as a child. Gorya hires another couple to watch him closely because he thinks he might have to be put down because his Leopard is a cold-blooded killer.

Maya is also an elite Leopard and a killer. Her early life was very hard when people killed her family and kept her as a sex slave. When she and others escaped with the help of another, she grew up to be a killer that took out the men who made her life miserable.

Now Gorya and Maya's leopard's have mated and their human sides feel things for each other but neither think they can truly be in a relationship because they are so broken emotionally.

Maya meets the people that Gorya works with and his cousins and they all have to work together to bring down the bad people even though they don't trust her and she doesn't trust them much. When they find out that some of the people is Gorya's organization are still trying to traffic women and children, they have to work together to find out who, take care of them and save the women and children from a bad situation.

Gorya is such a great character, he thought there was nothing redeemable about him and he was so wrong. When he and Maya start getting closer they bring out the best in each other and their leopards are helping them to heal. It was sad watching how broken they really are but great seeing how they tried to find a way though and make their relationship work.

This book was a little wordy, dragged at times which slowed down the pace for me but all in all it was a great story.

I give this book 3 out of 5 Sheep!

I write every day and have done so since I was old enough to pick up a pen. (I spent a lot of time getting in trouble at school for writing instead of doing the things I was supposed to do.) Once I create my characters, I try very hard to have them react to situations as they really would. Sometimes I have preconceived ideas of what I would like them to do, but they don’t mind me, because it would be out of character for them. They take on a life of their own. Sometimes when I throw difficult situations at them in the hopes I’ll get a certain reaction and they don’t do what I want, I complain bitterly to my husband and he laughs at me. Still, it is important to me to have them be real, not perfect people, so they make mistakes we lesser mortals might make.

Book Review: Leopard's Scar (A Leopard Novel) by Christine Feehan

Leopard's Scar (A Leopard Novel)
by Christine Feehan
November 29, 2022
Animal attraction takes over in this exhilarating Leopard novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

The moment Meiling sees Gedeon she knows he’s a leopard shifter—just as she knows she can’t trust him. Meiling doesn’t take chances, life has taught her better than that. So why does she find herself rescuing this deadly, gorgeous man, when she knows she’d be better off leaving him to die?

Gedeon is used to women throwing themselves at him, not throwing his injured body over their beautiful, deceptively strong shoulders and carrying him to safety. He might be embarrassed, if he wasn’t so aroused by the very thought of this feisty lotus blossom.

As they strike up a working relationship that suits them both, Gedeon starts to rely on Meiling for just about everything. But when her hidden nature rises to the surface, the connection that links them shifts into an all-consuming desire. And neither will escape unmarked. . . .

Meiling and Gedeon are both in the woods trying to save some kidnapped women and girls but they were too late. When a bomb goes off and Gedeon gets hurt, Meiling was the one who saved him and that helped him recover from his injuries. She did this knowing that Gedeon might kill her after he recovered which just made Gedeon more interested in her. The fact that Gedeon's leopard doesn't want to tear her apart like he does most others he's around, just proves to be another thing that attracts her to him. Her personality and fierceness and the fact that she doesn't seem scared of him and actually makes him laugh is something he never expected.

She was surprised when he offers her a job as his partner. Even knowing that he was a killer and a very dangerous man she decided to take the job on a trial basis to see of they could work together. Gedeon having feelings for her, wanted to keep her close because he felt that she might be his mate but he didn't act on it because she didn't seem like she felt the same way about him. They work as investigators trying to find people who are missing and they work really well together.

Meiling and Gedeon are both leopard shifters and while Gedeon's leopard is a killer and he has to fight all the time to keep the animal caged inside himself, Meiling's leopard hasn't emerged yet. She's not sure it ever will. But after a while, Meiling can start to feel her leopard beginning to emerge for the very first time and her leopard needs to find a mate. The urge to mate is overwhelming, she would go to Gedeon but he and his leopard are dangerous and she doesn't think that he would ever be faithful to her because he's been with so many women. But she doesn't know that Gedeon has feelings for her and would actually never cheat on her so she doesn't tell him when her leopard starts to emerge. But Gedeon's leopard who is a little crazy and is always wanting to kill people even the women he's wit starts acting even crazier not letting Gedeon sleep, putting him in a really bad situation to where Gedeon thinks he might need to put himself and his animal down just to save the people around him. He doesn't realize that his leopard is probably reacting to the fact that Meiling's leopard is emerging.

Once Meiling can't stop the overwhelming urge to mate and goes to find someone, Gedeon's friends let him know what she's up to and he comes to her rescue. He doesn't want her to mate with anyone but him but he'll have to be very careful in the way he lets her know this. She doesn't realize he has feelings for her and he isn't sure she'll trust him so it takes a little while before they actually get together.

Gedeon and Meiling are both leopard shifters but people have been after both of them for a long time trying to kill them because they're special kinds of leopard shifters. The people after them want these kinds of shifters all exterminated. Both of them lost their families to the people who are after them now, so that's something they have in common. They are both really strong, smart, and cunning so once they go after the bad guys, I almost felt bad for them...almost.

I enjoyed this book because there was so much story, action, and a fun romance. But I found myself a little bored at times which is the only reason this isn't getting 5 stars.

I give this book 4 sheep.

Book Review: Leopard's Wrath (A Leopard Novel) Mass Market Paperback by Christine Feehan

by Christine Feehan
November 5, 2019
432 pages
Publisher: Berkley
He’s a man who’s used to getting what he wants, but she’s not the type of woman to take things lying down.…

Born into a world of crime, Mitya Amurov has had a hard life, and his leopard has developed into a feral beast to protect him. It’s constantly trying to claw its way to the surface, until a chance encounter with a stranger instantly calms the predator inside him. While Mitya wants Ania desperately, it’s only a matter of time before his past catches up with him, and he’d rather die than put her in danger. But Ania is dealing with dangers of her own.…

Considering her family’s history, Ania Dover should know better than to get mixed up with a criminal like Mitya, but she just can’t stay away. Something wild in her responds to his presence. A need so strong it scares her. But she’s not sure she can accept what he’s offering. Ania has always been an independent woman, and Mitya expects to be obeyed in all things.

Even with her body calling out for his, Ania won’t let anything stop her from settling a deadly score years in the making—not even the man who wants to claim her as his mate.

“The queen of paranormal romance.…I love everything [Feehan] does.”—#1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward

Mitya is a cold, calculating killer and so is his leopard. He was raised in a crime family by a sadistic father who from the time he was a toddler, beat him and his leopard and made him watch their enemies be killed. Because of how he was raised and because his father wants to kill him for leaving, Mitya is always on high alert, ready to kill anyone who comes after him. His leopard is always trying to come out and kill and it takes every ounce of strength he has to keep the animal half of him in check.

Ania came from a nice, loving family who ran packages for crime families. One of those crime families killed most of her family and almost killed her father and then came after her. She's still trying to figure out who is after her and why and when she does, she plans on getting her revenge. Her father is very ill and he's a leopard shifter but his leopard tries to get out to kill and it's only a matter of time before he does something really bad.

When Mitya stops on the side of the road to help Ania change her tire, he knows that she's his mate because her presence calms his leopard down. He tries to stay away but he can't even though he knows his life is a dangerous one. Their attraction is unmistakable, but Ania doesn't like that he's so bossy and demands that she do what he wants all the time even if it is to keep her safe most of the time.

They start off getting to know one another, all the while danger is closing in from all sides. Ania shows Mitya that she can take care of herself at times and that scares the bejesus out of him because he's so used to being in control of everyone and everything. I really liked Ania because she was strong at times but she did make a few mistakes and acted like an idiot a few other times but that made her relatable. There's a question of who is after her and why her family was killed and I had no idea who or why until the answer was revealed.

Their romance was a struggle for both of them because they both had to let their guards down and trust each other which something neither of them was used to. Add to that the emotions coming from their leopard halves and you have a combustible combination.

This entire series is a winner but this was definitely one of my favorite books from it so far.

Book Review: Cat’s Lair (A Leopard Novel, Book Seven) by Christine Feehan

Cat’s Lair (A Leopard Novel, Book Seven)
by Christine Feehan

May 5, 2015
Jove Books
448 pages
Cat Benoit has finally escaped the past—and the man who was the source of her nightmares. She’s off the grid, underground but watchful, and creating a new life for herself in Texas, far from the torrid dangers of her native New Orleans. She’s safe. He’ll never find her this time. Cat has to believe that. It’s the only thing keeping her sane.

Yet she can’t escape the attention of Ridley Cromer, the instructor at the martial arts dojo where Cat takes lessons. She arouses the animal in Ridley—and something feral comes to life when their body heat rises. Cat is in no position to let her guard down with anyone, especially someone who could be endangered by her past. But Ridley has secrets of his own—secrets only Cat would understand. If she dares to trust him.

Catarina Benoit has escaped from wereleopard and drug lord Rafe Cordeau in New Orleans and settled in Texas, working making coffee at Poetry Slam, a coffeehouse/bookstore. One night she notices a good looking man, Ridley Cromer, hired to teach at the dojo she works out at. Passion flares between them, though Cat fights to ignore it. Since she never knows when Rafe might find her, she cannot be attracted to any man for their own safety. One day, the police bring her in, trying to get her to testify against Rafe, but she refuses. She learns that Ridley is not who he seems when she finds him there at the police station. Trouble is, secrets or not, he may be the only one to save her from Rafe who is coming, thanks to the DEA letting loose a tip to him, so they can arrest him.

Hold on tight for the sexy, feral ride of your life with this intensely erotic paranormal romance story where shapeshifters bring both danger and hot sex.

I give Cat’s Lair (A Leopard Novel, Book Seven) four sheep.
