New Release: Where the Howl Are You? (Be Careful What You Summon Book 3) by Ashlyn Chase + giveaway

Where the Howl Are You? (Be Careful What You Summon Book 3)
by Ashlyn Chase
January 7, 2020
278 pages

Pushing forty, Ronda Calhoun did a summoning spell with her single friends to find immortal mates, figuring they might appreciate more mature, experienced women.

For all the others, it worked! So why isn't her immortal showing up?

Private investigator Nate Smith didn't know what he had when he and Ronda dated in high school. Now he knows she's the one he wants to spend his long life with. Arranging to run into her isn't a problem, but confessing he's a werewolf could ruin everything.

Excerpt:
She glanced up at him. Confident, tall and handsome. He seemed to have matured both inside and out. If this new Nate stuck around, she’d give him no cause to find another “easy Denise,” the girl in high school that lured him away with sexual innuendos. It’s not that she didn’t remember the hurt, but she had transcended it. It had been a learning experience. Understanding a man’s needs better now, she wouldn’t let that happen again…maybe. Probably. I’ll see how it goes.

As they were strolling, Ronda worked up her courage to talk with him about the call from Lorena.

“I want to run something by you, Nate.”

“Sure. What is it?”

“I got a call from my ex-fiancé’s fiancée the other night,” she began.

“You’ve got my attention,” he said.

“He’s missing.”

“Missing as in missing persons?”

“I don’t know. It could be nothing. He gets cold feet.”

“Does he do this often?”

“He did it to me.”

“Well, then, he’s an idiot,” Nate said. “Tell me more.”

“She told me he was coming to see me.”

“Has he?”

“No. I had no idea he was even thinking about me until she said he was.”

“So he may have changed his mind, or lied to her, or met with foul play before he had a chance to show up at your door.”

Alarmed, she tried not to show it. Of course, that he could have met with foul play had been in the back of her mind, but she had hoped it was a ridiculous idea. “What do you think?” she asked.

“I don’t have an opinion yet. Can I ask you a few questions about his character and your relationship?”

“Oh, I’d rather not get into that. Not tonight, anyway.”

*

“Sure,” Nate said. He squeezed her in a side hug as they walked around a puddle from the melting snow. “Is it possible his fiancée could be inventing this story?”

“She has a real future in acting if she was. Why would she lie about that? Just to take a peek at the ex?”

Nate shrugged. “That and stranger things have been known to happen.” Careful, Nate. Don’t scare her to death.

“Do you think she could be up to something?”

“Don’t know yet. Do you have any pictures of them?”

“Not her, but I kept one of him. I have it with me.” She stopped walking, rummaged through her pocketbook and handed him the photo of Michael leaning against the rocks with wind-tousled, dark hair and deep-set eyes.

“You still carry it?”

Handing it to him, she gave him a sidelong glance. “No. I just dug it out of a box of mementos. Do you have any ex-significant others?”

He was quiet for a moment. How could he tell her that he still hadn’t found anyone who measured up to her? “Not really. Can I keep the photo?”

“No. You can borrow it.”

He raised an eyebrow. Looking at the picture, he said, “I’m glad you told me about this. Have you met the woman in person? How did you leave it?”

“It was just a phone call, and I said I’d call her if I learned anything helpful.”

“That’s fine. Now back away.” Nate looked in her eyes with conviction.

“All right.”

“Why don’t you let me poke around a bit? I’d like to know that you’re safe at least.”

“Here.” Ronda found the scrap of paper with Lorena’s number on it. “Take her phone number so I won’t be tempted to use it.”

“Thanks. That may help me find something useful.” He frowned at the paper. “What’s her name?”

“Lorena. That’s all I have, I’m afraid. No last name.”

“That will have to be enough.” Nate tucked the number and photo in his leather jacket’s inner pocket.

He escorted her to her car and took both of her hands in his. Gazing into her eyes for a long moment, he wondered what kind of a goodbye she might expect. He hoped he was guessing correctly as he folded her into a close, warm hug. The self-restraint seemed a necessary evil at this stage with a woman who had been hurt so badly. Even so, he wanted to sweep her into a passionate embrace and kiss her with all the desire that rushed through him. Just holding her was causing his cock to stir. Keep it in check, buddy. She’s worth the wait.

As he was stroking her back, Ronda sighed and said out loud, “Why do I meet the nicest men at the worst possible times?”

He smiled. The nicest men. Did he deserve that? Damn it, he would. He’d do whatever he had to do to prove to her that he cared—more than before—that he couldn’t get her off of his mind and probably never would. “Don’t worry about the timing, Ronnie. I’ll be around for a while.” Except when the moon is full.

New Release: The Goddess Gets Her Guy by Ashlyn Chase + giveaway

A spin-off of a spin-off of a spin-off… My head is spinning!
Ashlyn Chase

You know you’ve created a successful world when your editor asks for more books set in that world:

My Phoenix Brothers series is a spin-off of book 2 in the Boston Dragons series
Oh! And the Boston Dragons series is a spin-off of book 2 in the Flirting with Fangs series
And, oh yeah, the Flirting with Fangs series is a spin-off of book 2 in the Strange Neighbors series!
Always book 2. Weird coincidence? Or numbers?

Knowing that publishers are keeping track of things like sales, I can pretty much guess it has to do with numbers. I’m not a math person or a business person. I’m a creative person—not that those things are mutually exclusive! More and more authors are becoming business savvy. I’m late to that party, and I’m not sure I want to attend.
Let’s just say my priorities are still with the stories. A lot of writers are getting obsessed with the business and short-cutting important steps like writing the next book, rewriting, editing, re-editing, proofreading, well—you get my drift. Making the best book possible is the author’s job…in my opinion.
Working closely with a professional editor is part of that job. Now, authors seem to be taking on a slew of new jobs. Publisher, Cover artist, Marketer, Publicist… It makes my head—that was already spinning—spin harder!
Well…I’m finally wrapping up the series (or is it serieses? Nobody knows) with a stand-alone novel releasing Nov 26th.
 The Goddess Gets Her Guy
Many characters from the previous books make an appearance, so fans who have been following should enjoy a visit with old friends. But if you haven’t read any of my books before, don’t let that stop you.

I love to read a complete story even if it’s part of a series. I want to be able to accidentally read book 3 and then say, ‘Oh! I guess that was part of a trilogy,’ still feeling like I enjoyed a whole romance from beginning to happily ever after. Sometimes I’m curious enough to go back and check out the earlier stories if not too much is given away.

Yes, everyone wants a series…which is great! If the author loves the world they created, and readers can’t get enough of it, publishers will certainly do what they can to keep it going. Everybody’s happy. I can’t see myself running out of stories to tell. Maybe that’s why book two gets the spin-off. By then, I’m already creating new characters to fall in love with who readers want to see more of. I’m guilty of having secondary characters who sometimes steal the show. But all good things must come to an end… That's where The Goddess Gets Her Guy comes in. It's wrapping up the whole paranormal Boston world in a nice tidy bow.

If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll begin reading any of my books in any order. See? That’s my publicist coming out. Or is it my inner marketer? I can’t keep all these hats straight!

I use universal links! You can find all my books at all online stores that carry them with one click! Just type: https://www.books2read.com/ap/ngobln/Ashlyn-Chase

Or if you’re looking for a specific book, do this: www.books2read.com/ add the name of the title, and voila!

Or, if you want to start with the book that inspired the final series, you could read My Wild Irish Dragon. (Book 2 of course) where you’ll meet the legendary firefighting family…the Fierros! And that’s not the only legend they’re famous for!

What happens when the goddess meets Mr. Right...but she absolutely can't tell him who she really is?

After leaving his job as a cardiac surgeon, Dr. Aaron Samuels needs a new purpose in his life. Wanting to help his patients even if he can't operate, he heads to the Puerto Rican rainforest to find a cure for heart disease. He never imagined he'd meet a beautiful, mysterious woman, especially not one talking to a frog in the middle of the jungle...

Gaia—a.k.a. Mother Nature—has had it with paranormals breaking her number one rule: Never reveal your supernatural powers to humans, not even your mate. Fed up, she transports to the rainforest, happy to converse with amphibians who don't talk back. But Dr. Samuels is a much better conversationalist, and Gaia can't wait to help him mend all those broken hearts he told her about.

When her attempts to help only complicate things between them, Gaia begins to wonder what would happen if she opened her heart and was honest with Aaron...and herself. Maybe her number one rule has been wrong all along...

Chapters: Interactive Stories App presents Ashlyn Chase's Strange Neighbors

Update from Ashlyn Chase:

Apology!
I was told by a kind reader who didn't want me to be blindsided that there are a lot of negative reviews of the Chapters Interactive version of Strange Neighbors.

First, let me say I feel terrible if my words misled people and I would like to try to make it up to you. Apparently 'video game' was the wrong terminology. A 'choose your own romance game' wasn't right either. There's one hero and one heroine, and no choices there. I probably should have called it an interactive story, but when it was presented to me, I was told 'video game.' I admit I should have investigated it more thoroughly before signing the contract. Chalk one up to an excited author flattered that someone saw more potential in her crazy imagination.

So...I can't do much (or anything) about the game itself. I was told I'd have a chance to preview it and give my approval before it went live. That didn't happen. However, that doesn't absolve me of the confusion I may have caused.

Please...instead of leaving a negative review, do get in touch with me. I can give you a free copy of my latest book Tiger's Night Out in any format you like. Or, if you already bought that one, I can offer you another Indie.

Again, I'm sincerely sorry for rhe confusion.

What if you could turn a book from your favorite genre (like romance!) into an interactive game experience. Well, now you can! Crazy Maple Studio has created Chapters:

Aaaaaand...Ashlyn Chase's PNR comedy Strange Neighbors has been released today! You can download the app and read/play along.
