Who am I?

Since that time, I've devoted my 'spare' time to writing, researching, community involvement, and private and group pro bono counseling in deviant behavior, alternative lifestyle, and addiction recovery.

I was formally 'dungeon trained' as a Domme before discovering my submissive side when I joined the service. My scenarios are pulled primarily from either personal experience or observation, including spending time in BDSM clubs as the safety/medical officer. My multi-faceted background allows me to glean from many avenues and give a unique and intelligent literary experience through elements of fantasy and fiction. I live with my husband, musician, and fellow-author, John Hayse, and two border collies in southern California. His wet fingers abandoned the inside of her throat, cupping the curve of her jaw, and his mouth crushed down on hers.

It was a whole new kind of oral sex. That was the only way to describe the aggressive, needy assault. His tongue thrust as his lips dominated hers harder and greedier, like there was some kind of climax waiting for him at the end. A preview of his skills, or a promise that it would be the only way he would invade her body, no matter which part of himself he was using? Settling back in the seat, he returned the mask to its rightful place and forced her down onto her knees again. His thumb picked up its previous stroking over her lips, but when her bound wrists slid down the hard plane of his stomach and into his lap, there was no mistaking the bulging line of his erection. The feel of it had her lust spreading hotter, dampening her panties with desperate anticipation.

She earned a soft mocking laugh when she started rubbing her arms over the steely line.

He wanted her to be greedy? He probably shouldn't have told her that. Before she could reply, the limo slowed to a stop, reigniting the thrill of uncertainty. When the driver opened the door, her bull man climbed out first, then reached inside and hauled her out by the waist.

Once she was on her feet, he grabbed her bound wrists and started leading her across old asphalt. Her heels clicked and wobbled in the rough patches. She thought she heard water lapping and a nearby buoy. It definitely smelled like the docks. The way the noise and voices echoed indicated they were surrounded by warehouses or giant shipping containers.

Again, it should have been a red flag, but Kami wasn't afraid, only morbidly curious. It took her a moment to realize they were drawing closer to the pulsing bass of music. Her escort paused for a moment before a door opened and it washed over them loud and clear. They stopped directly inside to wait for everyone. When the metal door finally closed, her bull man untied the blindfold.

Blinking in the dimly lit entrance, Kami saw that it was a makeshift foyer with draping velveteen crimson, black-and-white jack-o-lanterns, Gothic candelabras, antiqued mirrors, and other décor that would indicate they were getting ready to enter a vampire's secret lair. Even the music thumping and crawling over her flesh was more along the lines of Screamo-Goth-Rave, than the Dubstep bass would suggest.

"You know, there are at least a hundred different horror movies that begin this way," she referred to the space around them by drawing a small square in the air with her index fingers.

A more difficult task than one would think with bound wrists.

"That's what makes decorating so easy," he said, pulling her against his body to slip a hand under her skirt and take his fill of her ass cheek. "The question is, was that just an observation or cold feet?"

"My feet never get cold," she replied.

She barely heard the low rumble of his laugh when he bowed his head right beside her ear. "Careful, demon. Some might take that answer as a deliberate challenge."

It was a seduction, his mind. The things he picked out of the air, as if her thoughts were broadcasting on wavelengths he could read like a digital marquee. Things that no other man on the planet had ever been able to hear between the lines of her responses before.

"You're free to take it however you like," she pointed out, but it wasn't flippant.

Being fairly new to the series (I have only read the first book recently), I didn’t know what to expect from Hard to Serve. While it does include some previous characters from the Hard Ink series and is listed as part of that series, this novella is more at home as part of the Blasphemy series which centers around a BDSM club owned by 12 masters. 

Basically the story is that Detective Kylar Vance is being investigated as part of the new police commissioner’s plan to end corruption within the department. Naturally Kylar feels threatened and stressed so what does he do? He goes out looking for a submissive and finds her at Blasphemy. Mia Breslin is everything Kylar could want in a Sub and Kylar is everything Mia could want in a Dom so everything is peachy keen until Kylar finds out that Mia is his boss’ daughter. Talk about a rock and a hard place right? Yes, I just went there.

Anyway, Hard to Serve wasn’t a bad novella, but it wasn’t stellar either. I’m trying not to compare it to the full length novel I just read from the same series but it is difficult not to. The plot was alright but I felt like I’d read this story before and I’m not a big BDSM reader. I know plots and themes get used and re-used but there was just something about this particular one that fell a little flat for me. It left me with a “meh” feeling versus the “wow” feeling I got from the first book in the series and from this author in general.

That’s not to say Hard to Serve should be skipped, by all means if it’s BDSM or a Laura Kaye story you’re looking for then pick this one up. I did like Kylar and Mia as individual characters but because this was a novella, I didn’t feel like I got to really know them in such a short amount of time. Perhaps a full length story for these two would have made a better impact because I felt there was more about them that needed to be fleshed out to give the romance more of an impact. Then again, novellas are tricky. The author needs to be able to tell an entire story beginning, middle, and end in such a short number of pages. So while this novella may have fallen a bit short of expectations, I still highly recommend Laura Kaye’s work, especially her full length novels.

Dark and Stormy Knight is the ultimate steamy follow up to Nina Mason’s Starry Knight. Both are installments in Mason’s Knights of Avalon series, books chronicling the real world lives of ‘reformed’ knights of Avalon.  Much like its predecessor, Dark and Stormy Knight is a blend of literary forms, combining historical fiction, mythology, the quest model, erotica, and even a smattering of comic relief. While the two books complement one another, book two could certainly be read as a standalone tale.

Dark and stormy Leith MacQuill is delivered from certain death on the battlefields of Scotland only to suffer humiliating atrocities at the hands of faery queen of Avalon Morgan LeFay. Morgan’s knights (humans turned faery, like Leith) are granted power and longevity, but are forever beholden to Avalon. In a rare turn of events, Leith is granted leave from Avalon, faery abilities intact. The catch, however, is a spiteful curse Morgan places on Leith forbidding him to fall in love. Should Leith dare fall in the love, the death of his lover is forfeit. And so our hero pines away in his Scottish castle longing for a lass to love.  Enter Gwyneth Morland, another lost soul looking for love. Gwynn finds herself in Scotland, screenplay in hand, set to secure the film rights to Knight of Cups, a book authored by the elusive Lady Leigh Ruthven. Tragedy strikes, and quickly Leith becomes Gwyn’s knight in tarnished armour.

This book could really be split in two. The first part is fairly erotic and insanely riveting. Leith is an impossible romantic, but I loved it. Yes I loved it. The romance unfolds quickly and passionately, but soon the story transitions into a quest. If Gwyn and Leith are going to have their happily ever after, the curse must be broken. And so the second part of the book is about their individual journeys, against all odds, to break the curse.

It’s hard to say which part of the story is more enjoyable, as they are quite different. The latter portion of the book is action-packed and suspenseful, while the first half is deliciously dripping with erotic tension and subsequent release. Really, I think Nina Mason is smart. She has ensured a fairly wide audience for her Knights of Avalon series by appealing to a varied reading audience. With Dark and Stormy Knight, there’s really something for everyone. This is a series I intend to follow.

He had to have her, summoning her to his private domain he will have her and there is no doubt about that.

If you like steamy romances with hot domineering sex, then this book is for you. Alpha male vs Innocent female, she did not know what hit her and by the time you finish this book you won’t know what hit you either. Putting it down just was not in the cards, I could not. Was it the steamy crazy sex, or the story itself that kept me so enthralled honestly it was all the above. It started off with a wow moment, did that just really happen and it did not stop until the end.

There is not a lot of drama the story's focus was the building of the relationships and not just between Drake and Evangeline but with the secondary characters as well. Characters that could have created a stir and added a depth of drama was introduced in the end but the story ended. Maya Banks did state that Drake’s and Evangeline’s story was supposed to be only one book but their story consumed her which I love because you can definitely feel that in her writing. Their story was so compelling.

I cannot wait to see how their story ends

Undying Desire is an action packed dark erotic tale with a plethora of likable and colorful, as well as the nasty characters we love to hate. This is book three in The Enclave series and not having read prior works was not a problem as the world building and character profiles are so well written you do not feel lost, although it is apparent much  has occurred prior to this adventure.

I will admit the reading took me a bit out of my comfort zone, being the first BDSM read for me and the tale begins with a significant introduction to this world. However, it should be noted that even thought this is an erotic tale, it is story driven and the sexuality is not gratuitous but rather part of who the characters are, as well as the reality in which the story takes place. As the story progresses there is much more to it than the smexy, it is a tale of forgiveness, greed, revenge, anger, joy, love, and self-realization. There are some great head-lopping battles, zombies, magic, and much more.

I would recommend this book to adults who enjoy an action packed erotic read and perhaps those wanting to step out of their comfort zone to try something a little different. I received this book with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.

Whew, this was a hot, sexy read. Cold shower reading material right here.

Fay is wary of her government because she finds out they have been lying about their past and sets out to find the truth about the airborne people. She can see things and thinks her government might not be the good guys she thought they were. She's been spying on the airborne people for her government and when her aircraft crashes she is at the mercy of the airborne people.

What follows is an adventure filled with passion, heartache and some of the hottest foursome sex I've ever read.

I found Fay's world to be very cold. Their rules about sex not being about pleasure and only about reproduction were very strange. Their people would perform exorcisms on people who got caught saying that they felt lust of desire and that made for a very innocent and pure society of people when it came to sex.

At first I thought that Arlo and Drakker were going to be the only brother's to really fall for Fay, but Logan soon showed his sexier side. This might be the first book I've read where there was a 4 way menage. Not that I'm complaining. Each one of them are sexy in their own way but get the four of them together and you are in for a very sensuous and sexy ride.

Logan is the leader of his people and the last of the brother's to really trust Fay. They know she's a Dirt Dweller, a spy and a mind traveler and all that spells trouble for them, especially when her people come looking for her.

The adventure that follows is action packed, keeping you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

If you like action, romance and cyborgs then this is the book for you.
