So, from what I’ve gathered, here’s the concept behind the Woodland Creek series: 30 paranormal authors have written 30 distinct shifter-themed stories all set in fictitious Woodland Creek, a college town in Indiana. The website and accompanying You Tube book trailer are visually stylish, but somewhat lacking in practical information. It doesn’t explicitly prescribe a reading order, and since each book has a release date of November 15, I have assumed the books are stand-alone. I liked the concept of the series. A collaborate body of work seems both innovative and intriguing. Plus, I’m a sucker for maps. The website features no fewer than ten maps of different sections of the supernaturally-saturated town. I was giddy.

For its part Dragon’s Web is a quick novella-length read centred on dragon shifter Cayden Rienhardt, the human object of his desire, Nyna Carter, and Nina’s former lover Kara Mitchell, a shifter. The book opens with Kara in her eighteenth month of captivity. She manages to seduce a guard, steal the key to her cell, and tear off to Woodland Creek in her black kitty-cat form. Her objective, to resume her love affair with Nyna, is thwarted by Rienhardt who has already staked his claim. Cayden, in all his alpha-male glory, has a solution to their dilemma; why have only one mate when he can have two? And so the concept of spinning a three-way dragon’s web of love is born.

As previously mentioned, this book is fairly short in length. The love story unfolds amidst a murderous family plot threatening Nyna and the happiness of her two would-be lovers. It immediately appeared to me as though a lot of action occurred prior the start of this story, making me feel like I’d missed the boat. But, try as I might, I couldn’t find any information on a previous book featuring these characters. Although the author explains the back story, what has happened in the past seems to be more interesting than the present.

This story’s romance arc is fairly fresh. I’d never read a paranormal romance with this kind of love-twist and was eager to see how it played out. Sadly, I was fairly disappointed. The trio just didn’t ring true as a loving, respectful match; more like an opportunistic experiment for the male alpha. Overall, Dragon’s Web is a good idea, but not ideal. I will, however, give the Woodland Creek Series another shot. I’m fairly invested in those maps.

They are sworn to protect her. They tell her of her birth place, vampires and rulers and it just doesn’t seem real. 

Great new series! Anything is possible with magic and new worlds. This book is filled with all those things that I would like to experience. Sweet romance intermixed with danger keeps you turning the pages for more. A definite keep read for this series.

Ortello Nodin and his brothers, Andonis and Nikias are airbornes and their law stated that all brothers had to agree on a wife and she had to marry all of them or none of them. But Ortello died in a mission and Chandra was injured very badly and is having a hard time getting over his death. Andonis and Nikias had been getting closer to Chandra before their brothers death but have all but pulled away afterwards which was hard for Chandra.

Chandra Lamar was a dirt dweller spy with the power to mind travel and was in love with Ortello but he followed her on one of her missions and he died in an explosion along with a lot of others. Chandra is having a really hard time getting her life back in order because her heart is so filled with grief and the fact that Andonis and Nikias no longer act like they want to be around her anymore.

Fighting through her own grief as well as realistic feeling nightmares about her dead boyfriend Ortello, Chandra isn't doing well emotionally and what she really needs are Andonis and Nikias to help her though this awful time but they have pulled away from her and she doesn't know how to reach out to them.

I have to admit, when Ortello's ghost first showed up in the book, I thought Chandra was losing her mind. Get the girl some psychological help, stat! I kept reading and he showed up again and again and I was having a hard time believing this story had a ghost in it. Why? I have no idea, but it seemed like it was all her imagination at first. I read books with vampires, werewolves and zombies but a ghost pops up in a book and I'm looking for some logical reason why she's imaging him there and then the title of the book dawned on me..Duh!

When Chandra decides to leave on a mission Andonis and Nikias try to talk her out of it because they don't want her to get hurt or worst, die. I really loved the interaction between these three characters. The arguments, misunderstandings and hurt feelings are true to life and makes them very believable characters.

There are a couple of huge twists that I didn't see coming at all as well as a great surprise. The MMF sex is so erotic at times, this books might need a cold shower warning.

If you like ghosts, a heroine who can kick ass and heroes who are exotic as well as erotic, then this is the book for you.

Fold in carefully the magic of shared dreams, the fear of unrealized passion, and the hopes of love against all odds. Beat until just lightly mixed, then set aside.

Frosting (the BEST part!): Add together sultry, wanton conversation, the electrical charge of hot flesh meeting cool skin, and the satisfying lusciousness of orgasm (this ingredient may be doubled or even tripled, according to taste). Taste Test

Devlin stepped off the bike, and came toward me. I was lost from the moment I looked into his golden eyes.

The garage remote dropped from my nerveless hand as I moved toward him, shaking slightly. I stretched out my arms to him, winding them around his neck, pulling him down to kiss me. He kissed me lightly, nibbling the edge of my lips with his fangs.

“Miss me?” he said seductively.

I pushed my body tight against his, desire pouring through me. He groaned and clasped me to him, his soft kiss becoming intent and reckless. Suddenly he lifted me, his leather creaking as he carried me into the basement bedroom. He laid me on the bed, kissing my mouth passionately, delving into me with his tongue, then began to kiss his way down my body. I felt the brush of his fangs on my bare skin and shivered, letting out a wild cry.

He drew back suddenly to look at me, his eyes molten. He paused for a second as if he was going to speak, then seemed to reconsider his words. Instead, he kissed me again on my throat and shoulders, pulling down my loose sweater so he could run his fangs over my bare skin.

I tried to unzip his jacket so I could touch him, but my hands couldn’t seem to clasp the zipper. Devlin gently pushed my hands back, and unzipped it, throwing it to one side. He had on a black T-shirt underneath and I ran my hands underneath it, into his chest hair. His skin was cool under my hands, and my desire increased tenfold. He shut his eyes at the feel of my hands on his skin, his lips parting slightly in pleasure.

The sight of his fang tips made me sigh in eagerness, my rapid breathing speeding up still more. “Please.” I tried to pull him onto me.

Devlin looked down at me through lowered eyelids. “Danial was right,” he said seductively. Oddly, there was a sad undercurrent beneath the desire.

“Don’t be sad,” I murmured eagerly. “I want you. God, I want you so much!”

Devlin pressed his body to me. I felt his shaft hard against my groin, so wonderfully long and ready for me, and instantly forgot everything else. I arched my back, trying to push my body that much closer to him, baring my throat to him.

“Don’t worry, Sar,” he murmured to me between kisses. “I’ll give you what you’ve been wanting.” He bit me gently, not breaking the skin. At once, my lust roared up inside of me as I gasped, writhing beneath him. I hadn’t felt The Lust in months, not like this. The pills had kept it at bay, but I’d gone off them…

“Please,” I gasped. “Please, Dev, I need you!”

“I know what you need, Sar,” he murmured. He held me to the bed with one hand and began to kiss me, running his fangs over my neck. He breathing quickened as he pulled up my shirt, and unclasped my bra, moving it aside as his mouth came down over my breasts, his fangs pressing down slightly as he kissed and sucked at my skin.

It was sweet torture. No matter how I begged and writhed, he seemed to foresee my movements, speedily avoiding my efforts to impale myself on his fangs. Finally, I was near tears with frustration, crying out repeatedly in desperate need.

“No,” he said teasingly, drawing his lips from my reddened breast. “I’m not done with the foreplay, Love. You’ll have to wait.”
