Alpha Male Diner: Serving WOLF SHIFTER prepared by A. Mariposa + a taste test

Welcome to ALPHA MALE DINER!
Meet “Heart of the Wolf’s” male lead, Gareth Delarosa, an Alpha wolf without a pack.

Welcome to Alpha Male Diner, a neat little cuisine off Highway 20, just outside the small town of Black River, NY. It’s a real backwoods kind of place, lots of mountains and trees and weird little gravel roads leading to nowhere. But you know, a lone Alpha wolf has to run his car garage somewhere.

Serving up a steamy “WOLF SHIFTER” on a silver platter, Gareth Delarosa is part Latin Lover, part Army vet, and 100% freak in the sheets. Order him up with extra HOT sauce:

Gareth Delarosa

Recipe created by
A. Mariposa
Heart of the Wolf

2. Moody, protective scowl and sensual lips.

Waking Up in Your Forbidden Crush’s House. Wearing His Shirt. You know, Normal Things™.

“Hey.”

Maddy stiffened. Her heart gave a little flutter. She knew that voice. His deep, husky baritone was unmistakable.

She looked back over her shoulder.

It was him.

Oh good lord.

He stood at the entrance to the kitchen, a towel over one shoulder.

Their eyes met.

She felt a little zap of lightning.

She swallowed. Hard.

Maddy turned around to face him. She was shocked. He was her secret. Secrets were supposed to remain hidden. Not standing before her, face-to-face.

This was her first time standing so close to him outside of work, in broad daylight, without a dark moonlit forest obscuring his physique. His honey-hazel eyes glimmered beneath stern brows. His black hair, a warm tone like rich earthen humus, fell freely past his shoulders.

His massive chest made two little mountains under his white T-shirt. He was very tall and packed with muscle; she guessed him to be three or four inches over six feet.

A full sleeve of tattoos covered each arm. She had never really looked at them before. Up near his left shoulder, partly hidden by his shirt, she saw a vibrant, grinning skull in the sinister style of Dios de Los Muertos. The word LOBO in rustic Southwest font ran down his right forearm, while LOCO ran down the left. If his arms were both down, it read “lobo loco.” His right arm also carried the astrological symbol of a Scorpio, or maybe it was just a big fucking scorpion. The rest of the sleeve was too intricate for her to really appreciate at a glance.

His skin was deep tan. He wore blue jeans and steel-toed work boots. Something like car grease stained his shirt. She wondered, not for the first time, if he worked at a garage.

Maddy realized she was staring with her mouth slightly open. She shut it. She met his eyes again. She really didn't know what to say.

“You hungry?” he asked.

Then he walked back into the kitchen.

Maddy followed him with some hesitation. She felt like a stray cat who had wandered into someone’s house. He set a plate of bacon down on the kitchen table, and she pulled out a chair and sat down. Next to the bacon was a plate of scrambled eggs and two big waffles with maple syrup.

“I didn’t know what you liked,” he said, like he needed to explain why he’d served her an entire breakfast buffet. “Eat up. I’ll finish the rest.”

“Uh . . . thank you,” she mumbled.

She picked up her fork and speared one of the waffles onto her plate. The sight of so much food made her suddenly ravenous. She felt like she had burned ten-thousand calories the night before. She started shoving warm, syrup-covered waffles straight into her mouth.

He continued washing the dishes. The voice on the TV droned on. Maddy’s ears suddenly perked when she heard her name. “Now on local news, five bodies were found in the woods just outside Black River, NY . . . Police are saying animal attack . . . nearby mobilehome abandoned . . . currently searching for Madeline Donovan, a student at Black River High School. If you have any information about her whereabouts, please call . . . .”

So the police were looking for her. Wow. Color her impressed. Someone must have reported her missing. Maybe because of the gunshots? Certainly not her father, it sounded like Dean still hadn’t come home.

Another voice interrupted Maddy’s thoughts, a memory from the night before: “Rough up the guy. . . Toss his place . . . Leave a message.”

Maddy’s hands started to shake.

Her fork slipped through her clumsy fingers. It clattered to her plate. Then to the floor. It made a lot of noise.

The man turned to look at her.

“Sorry, uh . . . sorry,” she muttered.

Her hands clutched the bottom of her shirt as she tried to stop trembling.

He was still watching her. That made it worse. This isn’t normal. Nothing about this is normal. She was in his house. Her head was bandaged, and she was sitting in his boxers and a T-shirt. She felt a weird sense of vertigo. Everything was surreal.

She stared at her plate. Her cheeks were burning. She tried not to think of the unnegotiable fact that she was wearing his clothes, which meant someone must have undressed her the night before, which meant he absolutely saw her naked.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah.”

He shut off the sink. Then he passed through the kitchen and into the living room, where he picked up the remote. He turned off the TV.

“Sorry if that bothered you,” he said.

“It’s alright,” she said.

She turned in the chair. She could see him clearly; he was only about ten feet away. She studied his face again. The light from the window cast shadows beneath his high cheekbones.

Devilish. He had a masculine neck, a cleft chin, a straight nose and a slightly prominent brow that gave his face a stern appearance. His lips were firm and sensual. His lashes were long and dark. His eyes were a bright, unusual hazel color. Sometimes they were green, and sometimes they were gold. She couldn’t tell if he was Native American, Mexican, Brazilian or a little bit of everything. To her, he looked like an exotic model from somewhere warm and tropical.

She felt a flutter in her stomach. It was not a shy tickle, but a steroid-enhanced butterfly striking her ribcage. She liked him so much. But . . . he was an adult, and she was only nineteen.

So, like, probably too young for him. God, she could not stop blushing.

“So what happened last night?” he asked.

Alpha Male Diner: Serving Prince of Atlantis prepared by Kristina Streva + giveaway

Prince of Atlantis
Recipe created by Kristina Streva
The Inked (The Inked Series Book One)

Ingredients:
· Six-foot tall, muscular merman
· Cheeky smile, dimples, and strong arms
· Sculpted body, soft heart
· Equal portions of playful and protective

Seasoning:
· A sense of exploration & adventure
· A strong grip for holding weapons and kissing
· Determined to win the throne
· Jealous twin brother

After tossing the ingredients well, carefully fold in the following:
· Sarcasm
· Cocky confidence
· Soft kissable lips
· Sharp jawline

Turn on the heat and let it simmer. This meal is best when cooked slowly to allow a nice juicy build-up.

Prior to serving this mouthwatering dish, add a dash of conflict and a heaping spoonful of hero mentality.

This recipe is sometimes confused with a very similar recipe that looks the same but tastes quite sour. Be careful which one you follow.

TASTE TEST
“He grabbed the back of her head, his fingers intertwining with her long, silky, gray strands as he pushed his lips up against hers.

She did not struggle—but neither did she really return the kiss. His soft lips kissed Yuri with such force that it left her temporarily stunned. As she shut her wide eyes, his hands traveled to her waist. He gripped his fingers around her hips, pushing her against the boulder as he continued to kiss her with a starved sense of passion that needed to be quenched.”

Taste Test
Excerpt:
Our suite is on the second floor of the hotel. As soon as we get inside, Nick switches on the lights, and I feel a flutter of apprehension. My legs are weak and it’s a struggle to put one foot in front of the other. I can’t believe I’m about to do something I’ve dreamed of constantly since the first day we met. And yet, a part of me is petrified I’ll end up disappointing him. It’s been so long, and I’m so out of practice. What if this is all a big mistake?

Folding my arms across my chest, I step into the bedroom area of our suite. It’s breathtaking, with a king-size bed, leather-panelled walls, a plasma-screen TV and a balcony with a panoramic view of the River Thames. By the window is a large cocktail cabinet, a gas fire and an ornately carved walk-in wardrobe. To my right, a glass partition slides back to reveal a spectacular bathroom with marbled walls, a huge stone bath and a gold-plated shower.

Suddenly, I start to panic; things are moving too fast.

“I’m sorry. I don’t think I can do this.” I turn to go, but before I reach the door, Nick’s in front of me, barring my exit.

“Please don’t go,” he begs, slipping his finger under my chin so he can see my eyes. “Nothing’s going to happen if you don’t want it to. We can just sit here and talk, or watch a movie. I don’t want this night to be over. Please, stay. Is that too much to ask?” I stare up at him and for the first time, I see a desperation that almost matches my own. “Nothing’s going to happen,” he repeats. “Scout’s honour, I promise to be on my best behaviour. I just want to spend some time with you, Carly.”

My head is screaming for me to get out of there, but his eyes hold me entranced and my body is refusing to take instruction.

At last, I let out a sigh. “All right, I’ll stay.”

Bowing my head, I allow him to lead me over to the bed, and for what seems like forever, the two of us sit side by side, looking away from each other, the air thick with unspoken tension. My arms are still folded across my chest, putting up an invisible barrier between us. The screeching silence pulsates through the room like an electric current.

I start getting heart palpitations; Nick’s giving me long, lingering looks that make my body tingle. He’s probing me deep, reading my face like my features are hieroglyphics.

Suddenly, he leans forward and whispers, “You’re so beautiful. Can I touch you?”

I catch my breath then nod slowly.

Cautiously, he reaches out and tenderly caresses my cheek with the back of his hand. Then he gently strokes my hair and the dip and hollow of my ears, his fingers warm and slightly shaky. With a shock, I realise he’s just as scared as I am, and this knowledge makes me feel a little less insecure.

Slowly, his hand travels down the side of my face, then down to my neck, and lightly caresses the sculpted base of my throat. As he works his way back up, tracing the outline of my veins, I marvel at the silky softness of his fingers.

“Shall I take off your jacket?” he breathes.

I swallow hard. “Y-yes.”

With deliberate slowness, Nick eases off my coat and drops it to the floor. Then he takes off his own and I find myself becoming aroused as he fixes me with an expression so hungry, it’s like he’s got me paralysed. Desire spreads under my skin and burns me all over as he sits back down next to me. His sweet cologne is making my head spin.

“You’re trembling,” he observes.

I drop my hands into my lap. Damn. He wasn’t supposed to see that.

“Don’t be afraid …” He reaches out again and delicately touches my lips, my nose, my eyelids. I arch my back and moan softly as his strong hands slither down to my waist and pull me closer to him.

“Can I kiss you?”

I nod mutely.

Tentatively, Nick presses his lips against my cheek and breathes in my scent. Lightly, he kisses his way from the corner of my mouth to my neck and runs his hot tongue in and out of my ear hole. The heat from his breath makes me crazy and I utter a low groan of pleasure.

Goaded by my desire, he gently but firmly tilts my face toward him. His lips brush the periphery of my cupid’s bow, teasing me into a frenzy that shoots straight to my crotch. With trembling hands, he cups my cheeks and takes my mouth in his, pulling on my lower lip with his teeth. I whimper as he kisses me hard and deep, his long, agile tongue plunging down my throat with reckless abandon, igniting an inferno of longing inside me. The force of his need leaves me breathless, his soft lips eating me out like he wants to consume every piece of me. No one has ever kissed me this way before, and the depth of his passion tips me to the brink of insanity.

For what seems forever, our tongues glide together in a flurry of unrelenting lust. Finally we pause for air, and the room is quiet except for the sound of our heavy breathing. Nick stares down at me, his body shuddering in a way that indicates he’s trying mighty hard not to act on a violent impulse.

Instinctively, I raise my fingers to my lips; they feel all puckered and bruised.

“It’s been so long,” he murmurs. “So very long …” His hand snakes around my back and starts to lower the zipper of my dress. I moan as he brings his face level with mine and whispers, “I promise I won’t go too crazy.”

Taste Test:
Evanora picked the pastry up and examined it, her forehead creased in puzzlement before her attention returned to me. “What is it?”

“The mortals call them doughnuts. They are fried pastry filled with custards and jams and covered in sugar.”

She glanced down at the box filled with various flavours. “And you eat them?”

I nodded, and she gingerly took a small bite of the pink iced doughnut with strawberry custard inside. I watched her expression change from sceptical to bemused to pleasured. Sugar coated her fingertips, and custard oozed out through them.

In the dark palace, it had occurred to me that she had never sampled the sugary fast foods of the modern age.

Her tongue poked out and lapped at the cream in the doughnut, and the muscles in my stomach tightened at the action. My eyes never left her as she devoured the doughnut. I feasted on every expression that crossed her face. She managed to get sugar on her nose, and I resisted the urge to lean forward and brush it off.

Ruben said she was shattered, and sometimes a look entered her eyes that spoke of hidden pain, but her aura was bright and whole. Somehow, Evanora had found the strength to survive her captivity, to detach herself from the world Cyrus created. She found a place to hide in the horrifying world she’d been thrust into.

Evanora sat back with a small smile on her face and said, “I like doughnuts.” Her gaze flickered to the box on the table.

“I chose different flavours for you to try, so you can pick your favourite,” I explained, and her head dipped, cheeks flushing.

Alpha Male Diner: Darren, King of the Lycans by Candace Blackburn + giveaway

The door opens and you step in, walking immediately into a wall of muscle with a mustache, goatee and a scowl. Despite the scowl, you’re taken back by his physical presence. Until he leans down and sniffs you. Sniffs. You. You’re tempted to leave. Meeting supernatural royalty is not worth this magnitude of rudeness.

“Liam! Front and center, now! Pat this girl down before she gets any further inside the door. I’ve got to pick up Elizabeth’s ice cream.”

You open your mouth to unleash every curse word you’ve ever learned when a set of long, jeans-clad legs descends the large staircase. He fills out his shirt (which makes lewd references to Thor’s Hammer) like he was poured into it. His smile is crazy sexy, and his red hair makes you officially a new member of Team Ginger.

Huffing, he waves a hand. “Go. I’ve got this.” The scowler walks out the door muttering to himself. The sexy dude waves his hand toward the now closed door. “Sorry about that. Seems that we all tend to be assholes around here periodically. But, enough of that. I’m Darren. Welcome to our home.”

Taste Test
She removed her pants, tossing them to the side, keeping her gaze firmly fixed on his. She repeated the motion with her shirt, and, damn. The sight of this woman laying so invitingly on the bed, clad in tiny scraps of lace almost caused Darren to spill himself in his pants.

At this point, I won't last two thrusts.

Darren lifted her ankle and placed a kiss on her foot. Cass sucked in a breath.

"I...I didn't realize that was an erogenous zone."

"Princess, I'm going to find them all before we leave this room."

"Have you ever even tasted alcohol?" he asked.

"Of course."

"Then you know one drink won't corrupt you." He advanced closer. Her eyes focused on his lips. A drink wouldn't corrupt her, but another kiss might.

"No, thank you," she whispered again. Why wasn't she feeling for the doorknob? Why wasn't she backing her way to safety? Because she couldn't seem to drag her eyes away from his lips, which moved toward hers as inexorably as a grass fire. He stopped a scant few inches away. She could feel the heat coming off his body.

"Shall I kiss you?" he asked.

For a moment, she was confused. Was he asking for consent? Or was he asking himself if kissing her would yield a reward worth the effort? His scent and his heat and those perfectly sculpted lips enticed her toward him. Say no, she ordered herself. This man is a danger. He's out to harm you, to destroy your clinic, to steal your soul.

"Yes," she said.

His lips touched hers and the world seemed to whirl around them. His hands cupped her jaw and his mouth massaged hers, encouraging her to open to him. Tantalizing touches on her lips from his tongue seconded the invitation. Although it felt as though every organ in her torso had liquefied, some shred of common sense kept her lips stubbornly closed. He kissed along her cheekbone, his mouth seeming to melt flesh from bone.

His hand moved behind her head, trapping it in place.

"Kiss me," he murmured against her ear. His warm, damp breath brought out gooseflesh all the way to her ankles. "Forget about your clinic for a moment and kiss me the way a woman kisses a man."

But he wasn't a man. He was a demon. With that, the spell was broken. She pushed him away and pointed at the Ducati. "Go."

He tried to draw her into his arms again. "That's not what you want."

He was right, but she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of admitting it. She pulled her cell phone from the pocket of her shorts. "Go or I call nine-one-one."

On the dark stretch of road that lay between Alexandria and beach, Belial crouched over the Ducati, taking it through its gears until it roared to maximum speed. The wind slipped inside the back of his t-shirt, and for a dizzying moment, it felt as though he were flying.

There was no question in his mind that he'd touched something in Dara's core, something that had been in abeyance since the death of her husband. At the thought of her beneath him, his loins burned. Sex with her would be a moment of rapture in an eternity of damnation.

Her rounded body was on his mind far more than it should be. He needed to bed her, so that he could slot her back into the category where she belonged—prey.

Jeanne Oates Estridge wrote her first short story in third grade, a tale of birth-control-challenged bunnies who named their children in alphabetical order—Alice, Benjamin, Cathy, Dexter—all the way down to baby Zachary. Later that year, when given an assignment to depict what she wanted to be when she grew up, Jeanne drew herself in a floor-length, crayon-blue dress, sitting at a typewriter.

Life has a way of handing us detours, though, and Jeanne wound up earning her degree, and her living, as a computer analyst. She continued to write at night and on weekends, but she could never quite manage to write anything that satisfied her.

But she didn’t give up. In 2012, she returned to college to earn a Master’s Certificate in Creative Writing at the Nora Roberts’ School of Romance Writing at McDaniel College. Working under the mentorship of NYT Bestseller and former high school English teacher Jenny Crusie, Jeanne wrote a paranormal romance that went on to win the 2015 RWA® Golden Heart®.

The Demon Always Wins, the first book of her Touched by a Demon trilogy of paranormal romances, will debut in September 2018.
