Welcome to Sugar Maple . . .

When pregnant army wife Mallory and her young daughter go missing in a sudden snowstorm after a knitting workshop, Sticks & Strings owner and sorceress-in-training Chloe Hobbs springs into action. If Chloe and her human cousin Wendy can’t locate them ASAP, the magickal Vermont town will become Ground Zero for every news organization in the country.

And it couldn’t be happening at a worse time. Rohesia and the Old World magicks are making the transition to the earthly dimension and it isn’t going smoothly. Old friends are becoming new enemies and time may be running out on bringing peace back to Sugar Maple.

With three lives at stake and her beloved hometown’s future hanging in the balance, Chloe needs all the help she can get to make things right before it’s too late.

Chloe decides to host a parent/child knitting class at her shop Sticks and Strings. What she didn’t consider was how hectic it would be and that most kids have short attention spans. Mallory’s daughter Ava, took an instant liking to Laria and was teaching Laria how to knit. When a sudden snowstorm interrupts the fun, the workshop is cut short and everyone goes on their way. When Mallory and Ava go missing in the storm Chloe, Gavan and Wendy start trying to figure out where the two could be located.

The introduction of the new clan of Old World magicks stirs up trouble between the townspeople and the new inhabitants that lends a new angle to the people of Sugar Maple. Rohesia and her people have never been in the early realm and are having trouble fitting in, whereas the people of Sugar Maple want them gone asap causing a riff to build between friends that may never be repaired.

Bretton has created a beautiful town filled with supernatural beings that you want to know about after reading each book. Her knowledge of knitting is obvious and has the ability to make any reader want to learn to knit too! The story is filled with fun, laughter, love, and tears which is the recipe needed to keep a reader interested book after book.

In the month of February 1982 I wrote and sold my first novel. And no, I wouldn't believe it either if it hadn't happened to me. I sent in my manuscript on Thursday February 21, 1982 and four days later the telephone rang and I heard the amazing words, "We want to buy your book." How I wish you could have seen me. I was standing by the kitchen door of our North Babylon house, the picture of cool sophistication, as I listened to Vivian Stephens explain the terms of the deal to me. You would have thought I'd sold a first book every single day of my life. Yes, I said. Sounds wonderful. Thank you so much for calling. I look forward to our association. That cool sophistication hung on until I hung up the phone, took a deep breath, then promptly threw up on my shoes.

I was thirty-one years old, unagented, unschooled, unfamiliar with anything to do with the business of publishing. To put it mildly, I was in shock. My husband was working in Manhattan at the time (and finishing up his degree at night) so it would be hours until I could break the news to him. This was too exciting to waste on a phone call. I wanted to see his face when I told him that my dream had finally come true -- and came with a $6000 advance!

He pulled into the driveway at midnight. I was waiting in the doorway, holding a bottle of champagne and two glasses. I didn't have to say a word. He knew right away and the look of joy and pride in his eyes warms me now, years later, long after the advance faded into memory.

Welcome to Sugar Maple . . .

Sugar Maple may look like your postcard-perfect Vermont town but that’s where the similarity ends. Our librarian is a beautiful Norwegian troll. The funeral parlor is run by a family of vampires. The Sugar Maple Inn is owned by Fae while the werewolves keep our hardware store well-stocked. For centuries we have been home to house sprites, witches, selkies, spirits, shapeshifters, and elves.

And who could forget Forbes, our lovable Mountain Giant?

I’m Chloe Hobbs, the half-human/half-magick owner of Sticks & String, the most popular knit shop in New England, where your yarn never tangles, you always get gauge, and the knitter sitting next to you only comes out after dark. And did I mention that I’m almost thirty, single, and with no prospects in sight? My friends and neighbors have been casting spells to help me find Mr. Right but so far their efforts have been all wrong.

Who'd have guessed I'd find my soulmate in Luke MacKenzie, a cop investigating Sugar Maple's very first murder? Bad news is he's 100% human which could spell disaster for a normal future with a paranormal woman like me--in love, in danger, and in way over my head.

So here we are, two years and one baby daughter later, about to get married. They say nothing good comes from unions between mortals and magicks, but Luke and I are determined to prove them wrong.

But a beautiful antique ring may hold the key to a promise that could tear us apart forever.

It is finally time for Chloe and Luke to tie the knot and the MacKenzie clan is driving Chloe nuts. Bunny, Luke’s mom means well but is very nosy and is asking a lot of questions about Chloe’s family which she is worried will somehow bring to light that she is a sorceress. The love that Chloe, Luke and Laria have for each other is heart melting and brings a smile to my face. It may not be reality, but I always appreciate a good love story.

This was a quick read that focuses on the wedding of Chloe and Luke and paves the way for the next book with the introduction of a mysterious ring that causes all kinds of trouble for Chloe and her future. The Sugar Maple Chronicles are a delight to read and if you haven’t checked out the first books in the series make sure to check them out, you won’t be disappointed.

Welcome back to Sugar Maple.

I’m Chloe Hobbs, the half-human/half-magick owner of Sticks & String, the most popular knit shop in New England, where your yarn never tangles, you always, get gauge, and the knitter sitting next to you only comes out after dark

I've faced powerful Fae enemies, fought demon snakes, and stared down the fiery flames of eternal hell, but nothing scared me more than meeting Luke's big, 100% human family. Falling in love with a mortal is one thing; finding a way to hide my magick from his family is something else again. When they descend on Sugar Maple en masse to celebrate my pregnancy, it's all I can do to keep magick from breaking out all over.

But when Baby Laria decides to arrive early, my best-laid plans go up in smoke. A banished enemy is hell-bent on revenge and might take Luke's family with her if I can't find a way to save us all.

Chloe and Luke only have a few weeks before welcoming their daughter into the world and hoped to avoid the MacKenzie clan until then, but what you want isn’t always what you get. Chloe is super nervous about meeting his big family, especially since they are human, and her hormones are wreaking havoc on her magick. When the baby decides to make an early arrival, someone is set on changing Laria’s life forever.

Getting to meet some of Luke’s family was something that the series needed which brought a sense of warmth and insight into Luke and his upbringing. Chloe lost her blood family at a very young age and didn’t realize how much she missed that until meeting Luke’s family. The sense of belonging, family, and love is just some of what Sugar Maple has to offer.

Welcome back to Sugar Maple!

I’m Chloe Hobbs, the half-human/half-magick owner of Sticks & String, the most popular knit shop in New England, where your yarn never tangles, you always, get gauge, and the knitter sitting next to you only comes out after dark.

Now that I'd found my soulmate in 100% human police chief Luke MacKenzie and come into my magick, I thought my life would get easier but I was wrong.

The last thing I expected was to lose an entire town! Sugar Maple was gone, taken beyond the mist by my Fae enemies and it's up to me to rescue it or lose my birthright forever.

Even the Book of Spells, my lifeline to magick, can't help me now. If I'm going to bring Sugar Maple back, I must return to Salem where my family's story began and face the secrets and centuries-old feuds that threaten the life of the man I love and the town where I belong.

Chloe has found her soulmate in Luke MacKenzie and she is hoping that he will stay on as chief of police and live in Sugar Maple with her and a town full of magick. What she did not expect is to lose the entire town. Sugar Maple has disappeared, and Chloe is at a complete loss of how to bring it back. She may be half-human/half-magick and still trying to come into her magick but she is sure that there has to be some way to rescue the town and return things to normal.

Sugar Maple is the perfect town, filled with all different types of supernatural beings which make this book series one you don’t want to miss. There’s love, fighting, feuds, knitting and more! This series will bring a smile to your face and happiness in your heart.
