A group of students venture into the deep caves of remote Texas to locate a favorite archaeology professor who inexplicably has gone missing while searching for the Fountain of Youth. In the course of their pursuit, the group unwittingly rappels into a break in the space-time continuum, where time passes much slower than on the surface. With no hope for rescue, they descend further into the cave and uncover the most coveted urban legend in history and find themselves in the crossfire for its control.

My husband and I took a gamble (it always is with Netflix movies) on Time Trap and this time we came up winners. There's nothing spectacular about the movie. It was just entertaining. The whole time travel aspect was interesting. You'll have to hop over a few plot holes...well, maybe a lot of them but (Channels Elsa - Let it go!) The movie goes at a good pace and there is a lot of suspense and things don't go the way you think they will. They avoid those cliches.

If you are looking for something to watch one night then check this one out. Don't over-analyze it...cause what archeologist would go spelunking without telling anyone where they were? (Let it go!) And it gets bonus points for the Goonies reference.

If you've seen it, or after you see it, come back here and let me know what you think!

Tes Hilaire's Deliver Me From Temptation giveaway

Tes Hilaire's Paladin Warrior series hits the spot (hmm, I wonder what spot she is talking about Baaart?) for PNR lovers. You got tortured alpha males, strong heroines, sexy covers and did I mention... tortured alpha male? <G>. Check out my review of the latest release Deliver Me from Temptation. I will now turn the blog over to Tes so she can talk about unbelievable $hit... no really...<G>

Can You Believe this $hit?
Have you ever come face to face with something that you just didn’t want to believe? Did it feel kind of like getting punched in the gut? Or maybe like the ground had been swiped out from under your feet? Well here is a little scene where that happened to my heroine—literally. As a tough-as-nails NYC homicide detective, she’s used to lots of harrowing situations and always seems to come out on top. But things change when the enemy she has to face is a force of evil that she’s been reluctant to believe in…

The doors swished open in front of her. She stepped out onto the pitted cement of the parking garage, squaring her shoulders. She took five steps when the first scuff of shoe announced she was not as alone as she’d thought. Trying not to look obvious, she twisted her head around.

Two men. Two sets of eyes. Watching her. Intently.

Crap.

She spun, planting her feet as she pulled her jacket back, making sure they got a good look at her Sig. “You gentlemen aren’t following me, are you?”

Instead of answering, the men spread apart, one staying between her and the way out and one flanking her.

She took a step back, and the man in front of her took his own step to follow. Her scalp prickled. Something about this seemed damn familiar.

She shook the feeling off, flicking the strap off her gun. “Come on, boys. You don’t really want to end tonight in lockup do you?”

The one in front of her smiled, his lips curling back slowly to expose a dentist’s dream set of pearlies. Nice and even and…What the hell? Something was seriously fucked up with his canines.

Probably just caps. Some sort of cosmetic dentistry. Even so, those teeth, more than the flickering lighting of the garage, or the two bulky thugs surrounding her, is what had perspiration coating the palm on the butt of her gun. Stop it, Jessica, you don’t believe in this shit.

A shiver ran over her exposed skin, sweat chilling in the cool night, but she forced herself to move, popping the gun from its holster. She hadn’t even gotten the gun level when the second thug lunged, coming in at her from the side. Still, she should’ve been able to spin into the attack, even if she didn’t get a chance at a clear shot, she should have been prepared for the impact, yet she barely blinked and he was on her, his hand slamming against her already abused wrist and sending her weapon sailing.

Fine. She could play, too.

She turned into the attack, knuckles skimming off an iron jaw. He laughed, a thick hand snaking into her hair and jerking her back against him. Jessica twisted, trying to get a good elbow into his ribs, but the action had no force and achieved nothing. She went for the instep but he released his grip on her hair, pushing her away. She stumbled, trying to spin, but a booted foot slammed into her spine sending her toward the ground. Pavement raced up to meet her, and smacked her hard in the jaw as she strained to keep her face from scrubbing the asphalt. Even that reprieve was minimal as her assailant followed her down, his weight enough to knock the air out of her lungs and send her face back into the pavement. Pain radiated across her cheekbone. The already dim garage faded out, and darkness tunneled in, contorting the edges of her vision.

“Aren’t you going to be a nice treat?” Heat seared across the nape of her neck by her ear; his words, contorted and slow as she struggled against the dark, against the heavy weight smothering her.

The reality of what was happening spiraled Jessica further into panic. Not possible. His speed, his strength. The way he tossed her around like a rag doll? None of it made sense. She was a better fighter than this. This couldn’t be happening.

And then it wasn’t. Abruptly the weight lifted off her with a ground shaking roar.

Book Review: Deliver Me From Temptation by Tes Hilaire

Deliver Me from Temptation by Tes Hilaire

Logan Calhoun is the last full-blooded Paladin, the future leader of a race of immortal warrior angels. The heavy responsibility of continuing the Paladin line falls to him, and the last thing he should do is get involved with a human. Then fate throws Jessica Waters, a homicide detective who doesn't believe in fate or divine intervention, into his path. Her devotion lies in her Glock and a good set of handcuffs. Like Logan, she's a warrior for her people, and she awakens within him something he'd never thought he'd feel. But she's also as human as they come

I read the first book of this series, Deliver Me from Darkness, and immediately knew I would be following this series to its conclusion. I loved the Paladin mythos created and the author’s writing style. It is classified as a PNR, but there are enough urban fantasy elements to grab my attention. I was pleasantly surprised to find Deliver Me from Temptation had a much stronger urban fantasy element than the first book. The book is still a PNR with a forbidden love theme (hubba, hubba), but there was much more substance to the story and overall series arc. To top it all off there is a good murder mystery that isn't eclipsed by the romance.

I was desperately hoping book two would be Valin’s story; he pushes all my dark, mysterious outcast buttons. But Deliver Me from Temptation is Logan’s story. He wasn't my favorite of the Paladin warriors we meet in the first book. There is nothing wrong with him, he just didn't push those buttons I was talking about. I still enjoyed his story because Detective Jessica Waters is a smart, rock solid heroine with her own personal demons (heehee, pun intended) she must defeat in order to fulfill a surprising destiny.

There is also an anti-hero introduced and I can’t wait to see where his story is going. Valin is up to his usual mischievous self, but we still don’t know anything about the darkness that keeps him from feeling like he belongs to the Paladin Brotherhood. He knows who his mate is, but she disappeared at the end of book one. The next book will be his story, squeee!

The Paladin series is a great combination of PNR and urban fantasy and will appeal to both readers.

4 “freaky angel spawn” sheep

Sharon Stogner (edit Kalpar)

About the Author:
While growing up Tes Hilaire always wanted to see a ghost. Or meet an angel. Or dine with a vampire. Despite her vivid imagination, none of these things ever happened… yet. In the meantime, she writes about them from her home in North Carolina where she lives with her hero, her cats, a son and two daughters–one of whom claims to actually have seen a ghost (Tes is very jealous). She hates lima beans, loves spaghetti, and still believes in the impossible.
