Emerald City Comic Con pics!

At the beginning of the year Katie and I (Sharon) went to ECCC. This was my first time in Seattle. What a wonderful city! We had a great time at the con too. I could only find these pics, but I know I have a ton more... Here is a quick photo tour of some of our weekend.

There are a lot of me in my cosplay. Kate preferred to stay behind the camera so... I am Lady Killer from the Dark Horse comic. I met all the Disney princesses and they said I could be one too!

 

 We met both Thors and RossPool.

Claire and Jamie where there! So much detail went into these cosplays.

It isn't a con without Batman. This is Batman of Seattle. He has a FB page I think. And this guy nailed Tony Stark.

 There was another Lady Killer and we finally met. We both went over to the Dark Hose booth and had pictures made.

 The Funko booth was very popular.

  We spent an evening at the waterfront. Ate seafood. This is our rickshaw driver Ravi. We called him whenever we wanted a ride...he was so much fun.

If there is a carousel you are obligated to take a pic in front of it.

I am missing over half of my pics...lots with Baaart...if I find them I'll share. If I can't then I will cry cause there were so many cool things.

It was another year of fun and nerd-ery at the MystiCon

SciFi/Horror/Fantasy Convention in Roanoke, VA. Special shout out to Barbara DeBary-Kesner and Carl Kesner. I see them at all the conventions in my area promoting MystiCon and then running all over the place at MystiCon making sure things are running smoothly.

The original MystiCon, which took place over July 4th weekend in 1980 was considered a big party by most, but has recently been revived to take place in our favorite Roanoke, VA location, the Tanglewood Holiday Inn. The location and time of year that MystiCon takes place is one that fans, family and friends alike have come to rely on for an awesome weekend of SciFi, Fantasy and Pop Culture.

This convention was resurrected in 2010 by a collection of cool zany and passionatepeople that wanted to keep the family-friendly traditions of open gaming, enjoyment of different literature, arts, imaginations and camaraderie any Con-goer will surely enjoy!

Creep Show Costume Contest!!! Send your photos!

Who doesn't love Halloween?! Okay maybe some folks don't like it, but at I Smell Sheep we LOVE Halloween!!! So this year we thought we'd have a fun Creep Show Contest and get everyone involved. Here's what we are doing and if you want to enter keep reading.

We are having a Halloween photo contest (categories listed below). You can enter as many as you like. All you have to do is send us a picture (taken within the last 3 years) and that's it! We will pool all the entries and see how many we get. Depending on the number of photos we receive we may only have one category, but we could get enough to fill all. We just don't know! Once we get ALL the entries we will pick out the finalists to be posted online.

What will you get? Good question! I Smell Sheep is putting together some fun Spooky prizes to give away which include:

Spooky pens, pencils, erasers, stickers

Undead mini note books, sticky notes

Gummy body part candies, maggot mints, brain lollipops

Your choice of horror flick with titles like "Saw"

Moon pies & Kool-Aid plus much more!

Please don't take someones baby for this one. lol Your child or a family member's child will work.

4. Spookiest house decorations...BOO!

Now, Better Homes and Gardens sure has nice pictures but that would be cheating! A photo of your house, room, yard etc.

Ohio Renaissance Festival

Okay, so Labor Day I got to go to the Ohio Renaissance Festival, and Katie asked me to take some pictures while I was there for the blog.

 There are a lot of bad puns that Katie probably will love. Anyway expect some more

Ooooh, lots and lots of shiny weapons. 

 

Om nom nom nom, tasty turkey leg. 

 One of the great things about Renaissance Festivals is getting to see people doing different crafts like blacksmithing and glassblowing.

 

I didn't actually watch this guy and his "Renaissance Heavy Metal", but I could hear him from all the way across the field. 

 I always enjoy watching people who do fencing exhibitions at the Faire. They told me to take a picture at this point.

 Some pretty chainmail. I didn't get any this year, but maybe someday.

As well as performances, there are always musicians playing period music. An important thing to remember is that they get most of their income in tips, so if they do a good job, tip generously!

 

My favorite event at the Faire every year is the joust. I talked to one of the knights afterwards and he said that the Knights of Valour, the organization of jousters, work to rescue horses and use them as warhorses. Apparently the horses really love the festivals because they get all sorts of attention and they find the jousts really fun. 

Uhhhh, did someone let Katie out of her box? Great, now I'm going to have to hunt her down.
