The wife and son of a Mexican drug lord embark on a vengeful quest to kill all those involved in his trial and imprisonment -- including Miami Detective Mike Lowrey. But the old-school, wisecracking cops must soon learn to get along with their new elite counterparts if they are to take down the vicious cartel that threatens their lives.

Went to see Bad Boys for Life with my husband. I loved the first two movies and went in with high expectations... unfortunately I didn't love the movie. There was a ton of big-screen action which is normally all I need to have a good time. But the storyline was...dumb. You can pretty much predict what's going to happen, which isn't unusual in action movies and something I can overlook most of the time. All the funny scenes are in the trailer so those moments didn't hit as hard during the movie...I already knew they were coming.

The action scenes are over the top, bordering on silly but who doesn't love a helicopter blowing up (the hallmark of any respectable action movie)?

I'm not sure I was able to give Bad Boys for Life a fair shake. I expected too much--not on the action--but from the story. My husband, who can be won over with enough car chases, also wasn't as impressed. We actually agreed on our rating this time!

This is more of a rental for us. It definitely has big-screen action sequences but they are glued together with an eye-rolling story.

Super spy Lance Sterling (Will Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is...not. But when events take an unexpected turn, this unlikely duo is forced to team up for the ultimate mission that will require an almost impossible disguise - transforming Lance into the brave, fierce, majestic...pigeon. Walter and Lance suddenly have to work as a team, or the whole world is in peril.

I went to see Spies in Disguise with my husband and 18-year-old daughter. We all laughed and giggled throughout the movie. It was a formulaic kid's animated film but the characters were fun (let's hear it for Jeff!) and the villain was super-villainous.

Definitely worth the big screen price if you enjoy this kind of movie.

I give Bright 3 ½ sheep.

To me, this urban fantasy is a would-be Men in Black meets Bad Boys meets Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, shown not on the big screen, but on Netflix. Critics haven’t received it well, while Netflix users either love it or hate it.

This action-thriller was directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad, End of Watch, writer of Training Day) and it follows two cops from very different backgrounds  Ward (Will Smith) is human and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton) is an orc. The two men are fighting their own personal differences as well as enemies in their own police force and from human and orc civilians. When they find a young elf woman they need to work together to protect her and a mythical magical wand. If the wand falls into the wrong hands, a Dark Lord, once defeated by a legendary orc, can be brought back and the world can be destroyed.

The film fell a bit short of the genre themes it referenced: fantasy, cop drama, and social commentary. The reason could be all the missing backstory that might show us why this is happening and why we should fear Leilah’s wand wanted by everyone—some for good reasons, more for the wrong reasons—and so forth. Netflix released a documentary that explains this world and its history of magic. Filling in some details, making the events more understandable. Too bad this wasn’t put out before the film was released, or even a short bit included in the show—like where the Dark Lord is defeated by the orc.

I thought Will Smith was too tough, more stone than human. On occasion, he would say something intended to be funny but fell short. I did enjoy Joel Edgarton’s role as the orc cop. And Noomi Rapace who played the bad-ass, vicious elf, Leilah, did the villain role well. I admit being curious why she wanted the Dark Lord brought back instead of taking the power for herself.

3 1/2 "Bright" Sheep

I agree with the things Pamela pointed out. I enjoyed the movie. There were some well-done action scenes but...and I can't believe I'm gonna say this...there were too many action scenes! They tried to shove in way too much action. It was exhausting. Some of that time could have been used to fill in some of those backstory gaps instead of putting them in the YouTube special. And on the subject of shoving... I get the writers wanted to address the very real social issue of discrimination but they were too heavy handed with it.

There is a pivotal scene where Ward and Jakoby are confronted by some crooked cops and it was one of the best drama/action scenes I've seen. It had a strong emotional impact.

They are making a sequel which I will definitely be watching. I want to know more about Ward's background and see some more elves, RAWR!

First off, Rotten Tomatoes, you be tripping. Holly (15 year-old daughter) and I saw Suicide Squad in IMAX 3D. Neither of us knew anything  about the characters of story going in (we be Marvel people). We had a blast. It is everything a big action superhero movie should be. Was it as good as Civil War? Naw...but Suicide Squad showed better in 3D, if that is your thing.

It had its flaws...they tried to get in too much backstory for each squad member, so things we a little choppy in the beginning. Don't know if different editing decisions could have fixed that issue.

I liked Leto's Joker...dude took old school Joker and brought out the psycho aspect. The Enchantress is bad ass, but a little over dramatic like all super-villains end up being. I thought Margot Robbie (Harley) and Will Smith (Deadshot) did the best job of portraying their characters.

All in all, it is worth seeing if you enjoy superhero movies. Be sure to stay for the extra scene...there is only one :)

Everyone wants to know…is it worth seeing? Yes! At least I think so, but it started out a little awkward for me. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones have aged a lot since the last film. It was kind of jarring, but they didn’t try and pretend the movie happens right after the end of the second one; Agents K and J have been working together 15 years when this movie begins. I think the writers came up with a clever story angle with this one and pulled it off beautifully. Watching Josh Brolin as a younger Agent K was definitely worth the price of admission. Agent K of the past is much more lighthearted and optimistic than future K and Agent J has always wondered why K acts the way he does. The answer was touching and added a nice twist to the story.

 One thing to be careful is taking younger kids if they get scared. The bad guy, Boris the Animal, is pretty bad and he kills lots of aliens and people by impaling them with spikes...in the head. I like the darker edge to the villain but small children might not. One of my favorite characters was Griffin, he is the last of his kind and can see infinite futures. He is such a lovable character and even though he dresses and acts silly, there is a deeper message there.

The film is full of snarky one liners, lots of action and a great ending that will warm your heart. I feel it was worth the matinee price. I don’t think seeing it in 3D would have enhanced my experience though so you might want to save that money.
