It feels good to be bad... Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself?

First off, Rotten Tomatoes, you be tripping. Holly (15 year-old daughter) and I saw Suicide Squad in IMAX 3D. Neither of us knew anything  about the characters of story going in (we be Marvel people). We had a blast. It is everything a big action superhero movie should be. Was it as good as Civil War? Naw...but Suicide Squad showed better in 3D, if that is your thing.

It had its flaws...they tried to get in too much backstory for each squad member, so things we a little choppy in the beginning. Don't know if different editing decisions could have fixed that issue.

I liked Leto's Joker...dude took old school Joker and brought out the psycho aspect. The Enchantress is bad ass, but a little over dramatic like all super-villains end up being. I thought Margot Robbie (Harley) and Will Smith (Deadshot) did the best job of portraying their characters.

All in all, it is worth seeing if you enjoy superhero movies. Be sure to stay for the extra scene...there is only one :)

Holly gives it 4.5 "Just getting you there" Sheep or "Pudding" Sheep (she couldn't decide)

I give it 4.25 "Staying Evil" Sheep

  1. Wow I'm surprised it was good. I've seen the trailers and clips and wasn't all that impressed. I'm cautiously excited about Justice League really. Glad to know this one wasn't a total did like I had heard.

    1. DC just hasn't been able to duplicate what Marvel has been able to produce...but Justice League does look good! And even if it isn't...Aquaman will make up for it :)

  2. I'm so glad you liked it! I've been dying to see it--Harley is one of my favorite villains ever!--but all I've read are terrible reviews. It's nice to hear someone whose taste I trust enjoyed it!

    1. One of the best scenes in the movie is one with Harley...can't give spoilers, but it is the one where she is waiting for the rest of the gang to show up after her failed attempt to get away with the Joker.

  5. I am a Marvel person too! I saw the movie yesterday and absolutely loved it. I got the choppy feeling also. I wish they would have expanded the back story scenes and maybe it wouldn't have felt so rushed. I thought the movie had a lot of heart.

    1. Exactly! There were enough great scenes to make up for the silly stuff. I was really surprised with Harley...the actress did a great job with her... I was afraid she would come off as just a pair of boobs for the male audience. I mean she is supposed to be sexual, but there was a bad ass side that that let you know she used her sexuality as a weapon...like Black Widow.

  6. I thought the story and action scenes were good but the dialogue was aweful, and bad acting too! I could use a good mind bleaching now. I do give props to the only two actors in it that were good, that you mention, but that's it. I expect awesomeness from a movie that spent over 250 million dollars to make.

  7. I loved the movie. You didn't have to sit through 2 minutes of opening credits. The start immediately with the movie. Action packed from the get go. Completely different than the previous marvel movies (Superman and Batman v Superman) that made you sit through an hour and a half of talking before any real fighting began.
A lot of people criticized Joker's lack of screen time. The movie is called Suicide Squad not Here's Joker. It's going to focus on the creation of the Suicide Squad rather than Joker's back story.
Margot Robbie did a great Job with Harley Quinn and Will Smith with Deadshot. Viola Davis made you want to hate Amanda Waller and applaud her for being such a badass.
I loved it. Now we just has to impatiently await the arrival of the Justice League.
